Lew's News Extra - The Tiverton High School Prom 2012
Crowds gathered at Tiverton Hotel this Friday to welcome former Tiverton High School pupils to their prom.
Limousines and flashy cars rolled up to the red carpet as the ex year 11 pupils celebrated the end of five years of life at the school in style.
When everybody had escaped the rain and entered the hotel, it soon time for prom king and queen to be announced.
Come the end of the evening, it was time for members of staff to say goodbye to pupils and reflect on the five years they've spent together.
And a reminder that GCSE results day is on August 23rd and good luck to all of you collecting yours and all the best for the future.

The Tiverton Carnival 2009
I shameless plug tivertonpeople.co.uk on this video - so please register FOR FREE, and have your say on this year's carnival - and ANYTHING else in Tiverton!!
A REVITALISED Tiverton Carnival drew crowds - including Trevor Maunder to the centre of the town to marvel at a procession of imaginative floats and colourful walking entries.
There were 50 entries in total to this years Tiverton Community Carnival, an significant increase on previous years.
Among those taking part were a whole bunch of Tiverton's majorette goups, and primary schools from across the town added some fun and cheer to the event.
Despite heavy showers throughout Saturday (November 21), the weather dried up for the procession itself which set off from Blundells Road shortly after 7pm.
Spectators lined the route through the town centre to watch the noise and spectacle, while some took advantage of first and second floor flats to enjoy a great vantage point to admire the parade.
Schools got involved with the carnival in a big way this year, with six different entries from town schools.
Michelle Clarke, organising the carnival for the first time, said:
We have received a fantastic community response which marks a great turnaround for the carnival.
Mayor of Tiverton Cllr Paul Graham who viewed the carnival from an open top bus, said it had been a great event, which he was pleased to see had been well supported by the community.

Tiverton High School World Record Cream Tea
Students and staff at TivertonHigh School are claiming the world record for the biggest ever cream tea.
They played host to 559 guests for a proper cream tea today.
The current world record for the biggest cream tea is 403 people but an event earlier this year claimed 430.
Pupils from local primary schools, Tiverton students and staff and special guests from the community all joined in to swell the record-breaking numbers which have still to be ratified by Guinness World Records.
Officials from GWR were present at the attempt today.
It was the brainchild of staff members Kirsty Pritchard and Mandy Slevin.
It follows on from a Scottish food tasting they put on for St Andrew's Day last year.
Kirsty said: We have had some wonderful support from lots of local and national companies which have donated the food free of charge and it's really brought the community together.

Key steps for systematically observing Plasmoid anomalies:
1- Infrared and/or short radiowaves(radar) spotting.
2- The use of very high optical magnification able to resolve distant object details, dual or triple optical system.
3- Direct signaling to the anomalies spotted. Anomalies will change behaviour and body geometry in response to smart signals.
In the same way that stars are masked by the sky scattering of visible light in daylight many small objects in the atmosphere are also masked. This masking effect is lower in the infrared portion of the spectrum and even lower in the short radio wave portion. Dual or triple optical systems exploit this fact:
Dynamic camouflage is used by cephalopods in marine environments but Plasmoid Anomalies are the real kings of camouflage:
From video footage data the best that we can imply is the anomalous character of a given manifestation and further comprehensive research is needed to expand this basic claim. Plasmoid Anomalies manifestations are a local phenomena and local phenomena usually have local explanations or causes.
The observational data available on plasmoid anomalies and recent research results on the physics of complex plasmas strongly suggest that some Plasmoid anomalies could be plasma based lifeforms.
Some anomalies respond with flares to direct light signals in daylight or at night showing with that clearly their anomalous character. Some anomalies had responded by morphing into digit shapes correlated to the signals sent to them:
A pragmatic and objective approach to Reality can only be bounded by Reality itself: fresh consistent observational data takes precedence over any preexisting ideas, theories, any particular individual, organization/institution and over older data. The reality of Anomalies is a claim supported by multiple consistent independent observations. This reality is independent of any possible explanation that we may have of it.
Accepting uncritically what is mainstream or common sense is a clear expression of complacency, unquestionable and immutable dogmas are the domain of cults and religions but not Science, mainstream Science had been overrun by complacency and dogmatism.
The study/analysis of flying patterns allows to discern when a flying object has autonomous flying like a drone, the reality of man made drones in many shapes made these studies extremely relevant.
For example any elongated or irregular drifting/floating object in the atmosphere always will present a tumbling movement, this simple fact automatically implies that an elongated or irregular flying object without any tumbling movement has an autonomous movement, in particular a balloon-like object moving without tumbling and with rigid tether has autonomous movement so it is a drone or something else.
Watch Balloons Dynamics vs. Drones Dynamics:
We define Anomaly as any object or manifestation that exhibit anomalous properties or behavior that indicates some form of autonomy or aliveness.
These are some frequently observed anomalous properties/behaviors:
1- A rigid elongated flying object showing zero tumbling, including a rigid tether.
2- Any object with Variable surface topology: like for example changing from a 0 to a 5.
3- Any object that responded to direct signals by flaring.
5- Any object that released secondary objects or split in multiple parts and then these objects/parts continue to move autonomously.
This channel reflects an ongoing research effort studying Plasmoid Anomalies and as result of these observations new knowledge and insights are being added cumulatively, we expect people to follow this development as it is impossible to re-explain everything in any new video-post, playlists can help with that.
The nature of this subject forced us to use Youtube as the best output for these studies and we thanks Google for that, real Science can be done anywhere and nobody have exclusivity on it.
Knowledge should be passed on and even if you are not doing direct observations you can make your contribution by sharing this knowledge with people that could be interested in it.
