Afteli beachJust after the picturesque village of Evgiros, the road continues 3km down to the romantic beach of Afteli, which is not lengthy, though pretty charming. Framed by green surroundings and with splendid view of coastline turns out to be a super alternative destination. Mostly rocky but with perfectly clear waters. Families will find it quite accommodating and the presence of the bar enhances long stays.
Due to the fact there are no specific attractions which can lure tourists, this beach offers the opportunity to snorkel along the rocky coast in a tranquil setting.

Afteli Beach Lefkada on map:Lefkada has many beautiful beaches that you could explore. It makes no sense to visit Lefkada and just go to the beach near to your accomodation. Try to go to as many beaches as you can, Afteli Beach could be one of them. It's a special place that I love, that's why I made this video with pictures and my personal opinion about it.
Afteli Beach is one of my favorites is Lefkada. It’s a small quiet bay, with clear turquoise water, away from big crowds, a place that is a good holiday starting point for me.
Afteli Beach is located in the South of Lefkada. From Vasiliki, the windsurfer’s spot it is 10 km away, that is around 18 minutes by car, from Nidri, the largest touristic region of Lefkada it is 18 km away, meaning a half an hour ride and from Lefkada City, the capital, you are 34 km away, that is around a 45-minute ride by car. From the main road to Afteli Bay you have 4 km of road to ride, so it’s best if you have a car, scooter or ATV. I don’t recommend walking. The road is pretty good, maybe except a small portion which is through Evgiros Village, it’s a bit tight here. As you descend to the beach the road is a little steeper and curvy.
The area feels like a botanical garden, being surrounded by trees which gives you that cozy feeling of being surrounded by nature. Usually, there are few people here, just enough so you don’t feel lonely and less to make you feel claustrophobic. The guys who take care of Afteli Beach live here in this house and also own a bar and a restaurant, where you can drink beers and grab a meal. The olive trees on the beach are beautiful to watch and they offer you the privilege of a fresh piece of natural shade.
Afteli Beach is covered with pebbles, so don’t forget to take your beach shoes with you.
Getting closer, you can almost feel the calm and cool state of just being here. No rules other than common sense. Everybody is enjoying their piece of scenery. It’s just my personal opinion that it’s best not to come in big groups here, the place is too small and serene for larger numbers of people. It’s ideal for couples, groups of 4 to 6 people or even families with small children because you can keep an eye on them all the time and the water is protected by the sea currents, so there aren't any big waves.
A little tip: I suggest you go there in the first part of the day. The closer you get to the sunset time the shadier the bay gets.
You have a free shower which is fun to use. Showers on the beach are useful in Lefkada, because the water is pretty salty and it sticks to your skin after you bathe.
You will find the owner’s fishing boats here which are part of the whole landscape. If I was to go there and these boats were gone I would feel that something was missing.
You shouldn't worry about parking places. There are plenty. We could always find a spot. The owners did a pretty good job in this respect. They even painted the stone, so that you will park only on one spot to make room for others to enjoy the place too.
Then there’s the beach bar well equipped with everything you could need to drink. Afteli’s bar has nice outdoor bar furniture where you can relax as much as you want, drinking beers or coffees or whatever you wish. The prices at the bar are reasonable, it’s like everywhere else in Lefkada. If you are keen on reading, taking your book or your kindle here will be a delight for you.

Driving in Lefkada from Nydri to Aftely beach.Just after the picturesque village of Evgiros, the fully surfaced road continues 3km down to the romantic beach of Aftely, which is not very long but is also not often crowded. The only building is a villa, constructed by one occupant near the pebble beach.
Owing to the fact there are no specific attractions which can lure tourists, this beach offers the opportunity to snorkel along the rocky coast, in a peaceful setting.
This small cove offers the perfect opportunity for a romantic picnic or a nice glass of wine, near crystal clear waters, away from lots of people.
There is as well access to fresh waters to clean yourself after a nice bath in the sea. Afteli Bay is really a nice place for a relaxing afternoon.
