Exploring the Aga Khan Museum
The Aga Khan Museum located in Toronto, Canada was opened in September 2014. It is the only museum in North America dedicated to the artistic, cultural and intellectual heritage of Islamic civilizations. The museum houses rare and exquisite objects such as Quranic manuscripts, scientific texts, ceramics, glass ware, metal objects, carpets, textiles, wooden objects, and Persian and Mughal paintings. Example from the museum collection include the stunning Blue Qu'ran, a planispheric astrolabe from Andalusia, Persian miniature paintings of the epic Shahnameh and a rare early textbook of medicine of Avicenna. These objects date from the 8th to the 21st century and highlight the rich connections between the Islamic world and Europe, the Far East and Africa. The museum was designed by the renowned Japanese architect, Fumihiko Maki and blends modern Islamic architecture with a Japanese inspired aesthetic. The museum is situated in the Aga Khan Park and neighbours the stunning Ismaili Centre. The Aga Khan Park is inspired by the rich tradition of gardens from the Islamic world and incorporates formal and informal spaces and reflective granite pools.

This is a public you tube channel showcasing random pictures of buildings and design elements pertaining to contemporary architecture that I come across as I travel to different places. Some are widely recognized and famous while some are lesser known. Nevertheless, these architectural beauties caught my eyes and are captured on my iphone7. I do NOT own any copyrights on the building structures, these are simple collection of random pictures of the buildings that I enjoy sharing with people of similar interest in architecture and design.
If anybody has issues, please comment on the video and I will take action as soon as possible.
