Going vacation in Karpathos is like doing a time travel. Karpathos, majestic and mountainous is located in the Carpathian Sea, between Crete and Rhodes. It is an island with very strong traditions - so this is probably one of the few islands where you can still feel the hospitality of Greece as it was 50 years ago! Although the capital of the island is bustling with many cafes, bakeries and restaurants, the island has not yet been mass tourism, so you can find small deserted beaches where you're really on your own. Be sure to visit the village of Olympos, where women are wearing the local traditional costumes. Karpathos is the ideal place for a quiet holiday. Karpathos or Pigadia is the island's capital and main port. The ancient name was Potideo or Poseideio. The city is builted on the edge of Vrondis Bay, a sandy beach of 4 km. where you can swim or enjoy water sports. On the beach are the remains of the proto-Christian church of Agia Fotini.
Melissa Travel - Karpathos - hlavni mesto 2012
Agia Fotini), archeologická muzea a jiné.
