Places To Visit In Agra | Where To Go Other Than Taj Mahal | DesiGirl Traveller
In this video, I have explored several monuments of Agra. We all know that Taj Mahal (one of the world’s wonders) is in Agra and many people come to the city to witness this beauty. However, the beauty of Agra city is not just limited to Taj Mahal. There’s a lot to explore in this city. I have visited a few of the beautiful monuments and forts in Agra including Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpuri Masjid, Mehtab Bagh etc. Everyone knows about Taj Mahal. It doesn’t need an introduction. We know that this monument is one amongst the World’s Wonders, one amongst the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a legend of eternal love of an Emperor for his favourite Queen. Well, Taj Mahal has distinctions much beyond just these. Therefore, it surely deserves your visit once and more.
.
Agra Fort is another monument which you must visit when you are in Agra. This fort was built in the year 1573 by the king Akbar - one of the greatest Mughal Emperors. It is said that in-total 4000 workers worked for 8 years to complete the construction of this fort. This fort was built with an idea to make it the main residence of the Mughals. The architecture of Agra Fort which is also known as Red Fort of Agra is simply brilliant. This fort houses many impressive structures inside it including Khas Mahal, Jahangir Mahal, Diwan-e-Aaam, Diwan-e-Khaas, Moti Masjid, Machchhi Bhawan and a lot more. This fort is just 2.5 kilometers away from the Taj Mahal and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
.
Other than Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, Fatehpuri Masjid and Mehtab Bagh are the few places where tourist can visit in Agra. So, guys, that was all from my trip to Agra. I have done a few other videos on Agra, putting the links below. I hope you enjoy this video. Keep spreading love and share your travel stories with me. Loads of Love.

Agra fort is the place where Mughal emperor Shah jahan was put under house arrest by his son Aurangzeb during 1658 to 1666.

Agra Tourist Places | Best Places to visit in Agra
The tourist places in Agra are second to none.
Agra Ka Taj Mahal
It houses one of the seven wonders of the world, Taj Mahal and even has two other unesco world heritage sites.
So here is what I visited in Agra :-
1) TAJ MAHAL -
Words can not express it's beauty, one has to visit Taj Mahal to admire this monument of love.
Taj Mahal is closed during Friday's and opens from sunrise to sunset.
Foreign nationals fees is ₹ 1100/- and if one wants to visit the mausoleum he has to pay a additional fee of ₹200/-
I feel one should visit the Taj Mahal in the morning to avoid the rush.
One needs to hop on a Electric tuk tuk from the car parking area, charges are ₹10/- per person.
Shoe covers are also needed which will cost ₹10/-
Bag packs or any other carry bags are not allowed inside the Taj Mahal.
Regular Entry Fees for Indians ₹50
Location :-
2) AGRA FORT -
It's the residence of the Mughal Empire, it houses Sheesh Mahal, Akbar Mahal, diwan E Aam and a masque.
This red sandstone fort was even ruled by the Maratha Empire before coming under the British Empire.
Entry Fees for Indians ₹40
Location :-
3) FETHPUR SIKRI -
A town made by mughal emperor Akbar on the outskirts of Agra, it acted as it's second capital.
It houses a dargah of sufi saint Salim Chishti.
One has to park his car at the designated govt car parking at ₹100/- for visiting Fethpur Sikri.
There is a CNG bus that takes you to the fort for ₹10/- per person.
Entry Fees for indians ₹50
Location :-
4) AGRA SHOE MARKET -
Agra is the biggest footwear manufacturing hub in India. So one can shop for surplus goods from Sadar Bazaar and buy leather footwear at extremely reasonable prices.
Do watch my dedicated agra shoe shopping for reference.
5) AGRA STREET FOOD -
One can not miss Agra street food if one visits the Taj City.
I recommend you to savour Bedhai Puri, Alu Tikki Chat and Petha during your visit.

AGRA CITY TOUR, INDIA ????????
There's a lot more to Agra than just the Taj Mahal, and in this video I aim to delve further into what else the city has to offer. I begin at the well preserved Agra Fort, and continue on towards the chaotic yet vibrant backstreets surrounding the stunning Jama Masjid mosque, known as Kinari Bazaar. I finish the video off with a sunset trip to Itmad-ud-Daula, also nicknamed the 'Baby Taj'.

THE TAJ MAHAL | AGRA | INDIA + Agra Fort and train journey to Jaipur
The Taj Mahal in Agra is perhaps the most iconic building in all of India, and in this video we really explore the Taj Mahal in full detail - including some secret viewpoints to see the Taj Mahal! Agra also offers a few other tourist places to visit such as Agra Fort, a massive structure that can be seen from miles away! After our 2 days in Agra, we then caught the AF to AJMER superfast train from Agra fort station to Jaipur Junction to being the next leg of our journey.
Some tips for Agra!
1. The secret viewpoint where we had lunch is called Saniya Palace. It also had amazing food!
2. AF to AJMER superfast train was really comfortable and we really enjoyed it! We booked AC Chair coach tickets at a very reasonable price. We booked all our train tickets using 12go Asia website.
3. The Taj Mahal cost 1300rs each to enter. We highly recommend paying 1300rs to enter the mousoleum as well. The 1100rs ticket will only allow you to walk around the gardens. You won't be able to walk up to the actual building without the more expensive ticket!!!
4. We had friends visit Agra 2 days after we were there and they said the Agra fort was well worth the money! Bugger we missed out :( so if you have the time we also recommend checking out the fort too!

...ABOUT US...
Hi, we are Erin and Francis, aka the Honeymooners! We are a couple travelling the world for a year on our honeymoon.
In 2016 we travelled throughout South East Asia, and trekked all over the Himalayas of Nepal. We documented the entire trip on our GoPro for our family and friends, but decided to post it all onto YouTube just for a bit of fun as well.
We are newlyweds, happily married since June 2019, and are now living out our dream goal we have had since our last overseas trip, of travelling the world for an entire year on our honeymoon. We have worked so hard towards this goal and want to document the entire journey with you all, so you can join us as we leave our footprints all over this beautiful world.
The world we live in is so diverse and rich with culture, yet the more we travel and the more people we meet along the way, we realise that people share so many similarities no matter what their background is. We love showing these similarities while expressing their cultural differences and hope to capture those moments and show the world.

India Vlog: Agra Fort, Baby Taj, Taj Mahal Sunset!
February 14, 2015
instagram.com/timandglo
We were up early to catch our 6:00 am train from New Delhi Railway Station to Agra Fort Railway Station in Agra, Uttar Pradesh! Agra is home to what is arguably India's most famous cultural site: Taj Mahal! We didn't actually visit Taj Mahal on this day, opting to save it for a sunrise visit the following day. But we visited a couple other amazing places in Agra, which provided stunning view of Taj Mahal!
We booked our train tickets online before we arrived in India. You can create an account with IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation), which runs India's train e-ticketing system at You'll need an IRCTC account to book trains on sites like ClearTrip and MakeMyTrip. Hint: You don't need an Indian telephone number to register an account. Just make one up. ;)
We sat in the AC Chair Car Cabin, which was extremely comfortable. Cozy seats and free water, newspapers, and a hot meal!
Once in Agra, we took a rickshaw to the Radisson Blu. This is a beautiful hotel close to the east gate of Taj Mahal. They provide an excellent buffet breakfast!
We paid 1,850 rupees for an all day 4x4 car rental and guide, which we split with our friends. We used the car to see three sites: Agra Fort, the Tomb of I'timad-ud-Daulah (aka. baby Taj or little Taj), and Mehtab Bagh.
Of all the forts we saw in India on this trip, Agra Fort was our favorite! You can get amazing views of Taj Mahal from Agra Fort! Baby Taj is also worth a visit!
Finally we went to to Mehtab Bagh, a park located across the river from Taj Mahal. The way the light hits the Taj during the sunset is very romantic.
Traffic leaving Mehtab Bagh was horrible! It literally took an hour to drive a couple hundred meters. You've been warned. :p But it's worth it! :)
We were exhausted, so we had dinner at the restaurant in the lobby of Radisson Blu. We went for hearty burgers. Glo had chicken burger and Tim had a buffalo burger. Because cows are sacred in India, beef burgers are impossible to find. Fortunately, our chicken and buffalo burgers were delicious!
We hope everyone had a happy Valentine's Day!!
As always, thank you for watching!!

Agra City Guide | Taj Mahal Travel Video in Uttar Pradesh, India Video Transcript:
Well good morning good morning. Today we are in Agra (आगरा). How excited are you? Super excited. I mean 'hey guess what' there is a little kind of tiny attraction here we might be visiting. Maybe the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल). The Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) is actually closed on Fridays and we didn't realize that until we got here. So we can't visit today but instead we're going to visit Agra Fort (आगरा का किला). Yeah. And maybe the Baby Taj Mahal. Yeah, and the good news is that I've actually been to Agra (آگرہ) before and I've been to Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) and it is one of the most impressive I've ever visited in India. If this fort was outside of Agra (आगरा) it would be a standalone attraction in another city. So we're going to go check that out today and maybe check out the Taj from across the river. And then we have to buy tickets for the Taj. Right so busy day actually. Let's begin.
Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that draws big numbers, especially on a Friday when the Taj is closed. Admission to Agra Fort (आगरा का किला) is through the Amar Singh Gate, which is the south gate. Outside the gates you’ll find guides offering their services, so that’s something you can keep in mind if you’re looking to learn about the fort’s history and architecture.
So we've been getting all of these like teaser views of the Taj. Last night we had it during dinner and today we have this. And I think we're going to get one more vantage point later on in the day. And then finally tomorrow we actually visit it.
Once you walk through a series of gates, you’ll find yourself in a giant complex of marble palaces, inner courtyards and gardens, complete with wild monkeys running along the fort’s walls.
You also get some pretty cool views of the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) off in the distance - but we’ll show you an even better lookout point later in this video.
The Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) was built by Shah Jahan as a memorial for his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their 14th child in 1631. He wrote that the beauty of the structure made “the sun and the moon shed tears from their eyes”, and while I may not have shed a tear, it’s a sight that did not disappoint.
So we made it to the Baby Taj Mahal (Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah - اعتماد الدولہ کا مقبر).
So our last stop of the day is the Mehtab Gardens (मेहताब बाग़ - مہتاب باغ,) which are directly behind the Taj Mahal (ताजमहल) so you get some pretty cool views.
so that is a wrap from Agra (आगरा).
