The Egyptian Museum in Cairo; Ancient Egyptian Antiquities
The Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egypt. Egypt travel attractions and destinations to reveal with us.
Traveling to Egypt is all about visiting the museums, the Pyramids, the old places, as well as getting the chance to walk through the streets, eat the Egyptian food, enjoy a day by the Nile, and at the same time give yourself the chance to get introduced to the nightlife of this city.
From the most famous Egyptian touristic attractions, the Egyptian Museum is on top of the list, through which you will see the historical Pharaonic pieces. The Egyptian Museum is in Tahrir square, which is considered the middle of the city, Cairo, and thus you will not just enjoy watching the old gems, but will also get the chance to see the old Egypt.
The Egyptian museum is famously called the Museum of Egypt المتحف المصري and it carries a good amount of Egyptian ancient antiquities, about 120,000 items; some of them are already on display while others are kept in store rooms.
This is a must see and visit place during the trip to Egypt because there are different stories to hear inside about the Gods and Goddesses of ancient Egyptian civilization. You might even love the stories that you just wish you could visit the place once again and go through the same things millions of times.
The most important thing about the Egyptian museum in Cairo is to never miss the hall of the mummies in order to see the superior quality of the life that the ancient Egyptians used to live and have an evidence for that.
The moment you enter the Egyptian museum, you will feel that you have been taken and transformed to the old age due to the sculptures that are found inside and the different things you will get the chance to see.
A lot of Egyptian artwork and Egyptian artifacts to come across in this place. We recommend that you either get a trustworthy tour guide who could help you with knowing more about the place and getting the chance to reveal all the stories, or else bring yourself a book or an article from the internet that will help you to know as much as possible, but never wander the place just watching; read everything that is written there.
There are audio guides which you could buy from the kiosk in front of the foyer for 20 EGP and which will be very useful as your guide inside.
There's great history behind this place, not just the Egyptian artifacts, but the mummies, the masks, and actually everything about this place shows how the Egyptians were so good when it came to living like real kings and queens.
We recommend that you take your water with you because it is a little bit hot inside and you might find nowhere to bring yourself water inside during the journey. We also recommend that you take something that will tell you more about the artifacts there because some don't have label and you might find yourself standing in front of something you know nothing about.
Egypt history is like no other place in the world, this country of peace carries a lot to tell the world and the Egyptian museum is where the story starts. The grand Egyptian museum will tell you about the 7 thousand years of history that this country carried and that is the reason why it is considered one of the most important museums to visit in the world.
The Egyptian museum working hours are everyday from 9 AM until 7 PM. The Egyptian museum entrance fee differ according to what you are going to see inside; general admission is for 30 EGP for non-Egyptians, the royal mummies room is for 100 EGP, the centennial gallery for 10 EGP, and all these are reduced by half if you are a student.
Cameras are not allowed inside the place and you will be checked for that by the gates, so you will never get the chance to take photos inside and keep the memory of seeing those artifacts with you. You could only take photos from the outside to prove that you have been there and visited this important museum of Egypt.
This place is so famous, you will be able to reach it by taxi, by the metro, or even by the other transportation tools - but we don't recommend any other way than these two.
The Nile is only five minutes walk away from the Egyptian Museum so you could go for a walk there after you get done with your trip in the museum. There are different things to do in Egypt in general and a lot of things to see, so always plan to see as much as your stay allows you to.
When you visit Egypt, you should plan to visit Muhammad Ali Mosque
You should also visit The National Museum of Egypt
You should give yourself the chance to go to a tour through the Pharaonic Village
And even go to Al Moez street

The Pharaonic Village in Giza; Museum of Egyptian History
The Pharaonic Village in Giza, the tour in the old living museum of Egyptian history which might not be found in so many other countries around the world.
It is not like any kind of museum in which you enter and see the different old treasures being presented and displayed to the visitors, but it is more like a real show in which the workers act and perform the old Egyptian ways of living, giving the visitors the chance to know about the history of the Pharaohs.
The Pharaonic village in Giza covers the 5,000 years of history which the world is astonished by. After the performances that you get to see while being seated in a boat that moves through the Nile, there is also the replica of Tutankhamun's tomb which features the old treasures as well as the tomb.
Once you set your leg in the yacht that will sail down the canals, you will find yourself looking at the ancient Egyptian history wherever you tend to look. The life in ancient Egyptian time was so different that you will get astonished with the history and the old ways of living that is being presented in front of you through wandering across the canal.
This Nile river island kind of museum is very useful and interesting to school children and a very good idea for trips made by schools or even parents because the kids are not going to read lots of things which they might not understand, but they will watch the Pharaonic era daily activities.
Tourists visiting Egypt will also love the Pharaonic Village because they will get the chance to enjoy the tour with the language they could understand because there are different languages which they could choose from during the tour.
Inside the Pharaonic Village, there are different Egyptian exhibitions which help in transferring the 5,000 years of history and civilization which Egypt has gone through. Some of these exhibitions include Modern Egypt Exhibit, Inventors Museum, Cleopatra's Exhibit, Ancient Arts and Beliefs, Boats of Ancient Egypt, The Pyramids & Sphinx Exhibit, Mummification Exhibit, Inventions Exhibit, as well as some exhibitions for the previous leaders of Egypt.
In addition to these different exhibitions that get people more informed about the ancient Egyptian civilization, there is one important Egyptian exhibition to mention here, which is the one related to Dr. Hassan Ragab, the founder of this village. The Pharaonic village came to life through the mind and effort of Dr. Hassan Ragab. The exhibition of Dr. Ragab shows some photos from different periods of his life and also presents some of his personal items, such as his important Cryptograph and Papyrus Restoration machine.
The Pharaonic Village is located on the West bank of the Nile, on Jacob's Island, Al-Bahr Al-A'zam street, which is about six miles from the center of Cairo, and which will probably not be far away from your hotel if you are planning to stay in the downtown area.
The daily working hours of the village are from 9 AM until 5 PM during the whole year but in summer it stays open until 7 PM, which will give you the chance to visit it during the day without having to run through the other tours you are doing, just make sure not to visit it after 4 because you will then have no time to enjoy the tour and see how the ancient Egyptian people used to live their days and the activities they were involved in; give yourself some time.
The time which you will most probably spend inside the Pharaonic Village will vary between one to three hours and this will depend on the things you want to see inside, so it is better to be ready for three hours in this place just in case. There are tour guides who will be responsible for telling you the story while being on the tour and they are usually professional and friendly, so they will help in making the tour much better, interesting, and easier.
The fee of the tour inside the village will differ according to the program you are going to take, there are different options there and it will also depend on the age; children from 3 to 5, children from 5 to 10, and of course adults. The price will also differ from Egyptians to foreigners but the difference is not huge and the entrance fee in the end is not expensive.
If you are searching for more information about Egypt and the old life in ancient Egypt then visiting the Pharaonic village should always be on your to-do list because it will give you a lot of information about ancient Egypt through the Pharaohs activities and life.
Being in Egypt, you could also visit The Giza Zoo with your kids ( ), you should never miss the chance of visiting The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization ( ), and of course you already know that The Pyramids of Giza are a must ( ) and the Nile will be always around you wherever you tend to go around the area of downtown of Cairo ( ).
Young Egyptian academic pegs future success on agricultural
Abdallah Mohamed believes the future of Egypt is in agriculture. Since he was 12, he felt he should do something to help his family. This is what drove him to start working in a garage, learning how to become a mechanic. Years later, he still has the part-time job, even though he's studying agriculture -- the industry he believes will lead Egypt's future economic success. Here is Adel EL Mahrouky with more.

Orman Garden; the Most Famous Big Botanical Gardens in Cairo
Orman Garden in Giza, Cairo, Egypt - A big green area known to be one of the most famous botanical gardens in Cairo.
El Orman Garden in Giza, Cairo, is a green garden built in the time of Khedive Ismail Pasha, who established it on a bigger area than the one found now as part of the Khedive's Palace. Since a long period of time, this garden was transformed into a public botanical garden and was even placed under the Ministry of Agriculture management.
This is considered another proof that there are some Egyptian green areas that people are still taking care of, unlike the normal streets which do not carry much of what the eye needs to see. El Orman garden (which is a Turkish synonym for forest) covers about 28 acres and it contains a herbarium building, rock garden, rose garden, cactus garden, and lotus pond (which is considered one of the most noticeable things about this garden).
The 28 acres (feddans as they are referred to in Arabic) were once 95 but were reduced and cut down due to some plans related to constructing new buildings like the Giza Zoo ( the Cairo University, the Public Surveying Authority at that time, and building Al-Nahda street. If you have been to this area and know the size of each one of those mentioned, you will then realize how big this Orman garden was when it was first established in the days of Khedive Ismail.
This place is not related to the history of Egypt - except that is has been there for a very long period of time - and thus all what you will do there is walk through the passages, maybe sit and enjoy the breeze of these beautiful green trees surrounding you, and get the chance to sit by some of the most beautiful roses found out there.
Orman garden is located in El-Dokki street in Giza, just in front of Cairo University, and it opens its gates for the public everyday from 9 AM to 4 PM. The entrance fee for El Orman Garden is now three Egyptian pounds, which is considered nothing in comparison to the different plants and flowers which you are going to see and which some of them are considered only found in this garden in Egypt as a whole.
Every single year when March approaches, there is a festival known as Spring Festival that is held in Orman garden and which starts on March 22nd. This festival welcomes different companies and suppliers to exhibit their plants and flowers and sell them to the public; this might not be one of the good things for foreigners because they will never be able to go back home with plants and flowers, but it is definitely a good thing for locals because the prices there are considered good when compared to the other suppliers found in the ordinary streets.
It is considered a good choice for families with children because they will have a place to play in, just make sure you are keeping an eye on them, and it is also considered one good destination to stay away from the hassle of the traffic jams. There is a small cafeteria that could offer you some drinks and sandwiches which could help you for the couple of hours you are going to spend there.
With all the history that this places carries, it succeeded in making the process of searching for a green place to enjoy the good weather much easier since Egypt is not filled with those places and might be hard to walk in a street with green areas without the need to be in a garden, but thanks to El Khedive Ismail who was so keen about green areas that he established El Orman garden and even built El Andalus garden, which is found on El Zamalek island, to his wife as w gift (
From the other green options to visit in Cairo, there are some gardens or parks which we should shed the lights on. The first option is Al Azhar park which is considered one of the latest projects done in a vast area just close to the citadel and old Egypt ( There is also another option in El Zamalek area which is El Andalus garden and which was also established in the days of Khedive Ismail. The third option to give here is the aquarium grotto garden and which was mainly established for fish but is also known as a green area where one could enjoy the silence away from the streets (
These gardens might not be the attractions for tourists who want to visit Egypt because they are mainly focused on the other historical places. For those we suggest visiting the pyramids of Giza ( going to Cairo citadel ( visiting the Egyptian museum ( checking the area of old Egypt with its different gems ( and going for Cairo tower to get a nice view from above (
Cairo is actually filled with lots of places to visit and things to do.
