It's almost done! A project that aims to provide jobs for the local community. A floating restaurant right by the Agusan River in Butuan City :) The restaurant is inspired by the floating houses found in Agusan Marsh. This project is spearheaded by one of the guys we look up to when it comes to responsible tourism, Mr. Ruel Hipulan :) Can't wait to come back as soon as it is up and running!

Agusan Marsh Diaries (HD)
NOTE: A few months after we wrapped shooting, Lolong, the largest crocodile in captivity, was captured in the very same waters we shot in. Blame it on stars not aligning because it would've been really awesome if we had footage of the giant reptile. Nevertheless this film serves as an introduction to one of the most beautiful places in the Philippines. Shooting this film was a really amazing experience.

Historical Philippines Adventure , Butuan City
Before the Philippines there was Butuan!
That is a common saying in this city full of history! From learning about the Balangay, to topboating down the river, to eating Palagsing...
I could go on and on...
But this city on the North Coast of Mindanao is truly a great place to explore!
This is my adventure!
Super Apir!

AGUSAN MARSH Crocodile close encounter | CARAGA | Region 13 | XIII | Agusan Del Sur Day 8 to 9
Agusan Marsh is a protected area in Mindanao where you can find species and aquatic plants that thrive only in this area. It's definitely a journey to reach the marsh. It took a 2 hour drive to head to the port, then taking a 1.5 hour boat ride headed to the marsh. It was all worth it.
Agusan Marsh is home to the Manobo tribe. They live on floating houses, high enough to withstand the changing tides. To go back and forth in different areas of the marsh, they use canoes called barotos. After we took part in the thanksgiving ritual, we began our exploration.
Take a look.

Abayan Festival 2018 Butuan City Agusan River
Witnessed the fluvial parade in the #MightyAgusanRiver as Butuanons celebrated the #AbayanFestival today. It was such an honor to be one of the judges today and to have 24 Barangays perform for us. How I wish a lot more #Butuanons could also see these performances for themselves so that they too can be proud of what we have in our very own backyard. The Agusan River is so special to Butuanons as it holds so many of our (YOUR) stories!
I still have hope that someday, when visitors ask us what is there to see in #Butuan City, we can proudly lead them to the Mighty Agusan River :)

Butuan City Cinematics - Cities: Skylines - Philippine Cities
Butuan City, is a 1st class highly urbanized city and regional center of the Caraga Region in the Philippines. It served as the former capital of the Rajahnate of Butuan from before 1000 A.D. until 1756. The city used to be known during that time as the best in gold and boat manufacturing in the entire Philippine archipelago, having traded with as far as Champa, Ming, Srivijaya, Majapahit, and the Bengali coasts.
It is located at the northeastern part of the Agusan Valley, Mindanao, sprawling across the Agusan River. Butuan City was the capital of Agusan del Norte until 2000, when Republic Act 8811 transferred the capital to Cabadbaran City. For statistical and geographical purposes, Butuan City is grouped with Agusan del Norte but governed administratively independent from the province.
Butuan City is the commercial, industrial, and administrative center of the Caraga region. It is a strategic trading hub in Northern Mindanao with major roads connecting it to other main cities in the island such as Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Malaybalay City, Surigao City, and soon, Tandag City. It hosts one of the busiest airports in the country, the Bancasi Domestic Airport, serving around 525,000 passengers in 2012. Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines are flying to and from Butuan City. Meanwhile, the nearby Nasipit International Port and in-city Masao Port are providing for its shipping and cargo needs.

The Php2.2 Billion Macapagal Bridge in Butuan City // The Longest Bridge in Mindanao
Macapagal Bridge (Filipino: Tulay ng Macapagal) is a steel cable-stayed bridge along Mayor Democrito Plaza II Avenue (also known as the Butuan Bypass Road) in Butuan, Agusan del Norte that crosses the Agusan River. It has a length of 908 m (2,979 ft), making it the longest bridge in Mindanao, and the second-longest cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines after the Marcelo Fernan Bridge that connects Cebu City and Mactan Island.
Initially named the Second Magsaysay Bridge during construction (referring to the nearby Magsaysay Bridge), the bridge was officially named after Philippine President Diosdado Macapagal when it was inaugurated in 2007.
The bridge was constructed along with the 13.1 km (8.1 mi) Butuan Bypass Road, which aims to decongest traffic along the Agusan-Misamis Oriental Road in downtown Butuan, through official development assistance from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation worth PH₱2.2 billion.
