Ahupe ghat is a pass which starts in Khopivali in Konkan to Ahupe village in the ghats. Ahupe ghat is based at 3855 feet above sea level. Ahupe ghat is considered a much sought trek as well can be reached by road. The Ahupe village offers a panoramic view of the majestic valley. The dwarfed Machindragad fort and Gorakhgad fort pop in between the panoramic view. Monsoons are the best time to be here, albeit, winters and summers could also surprise you with the beautiful landscapes. In early morning, the valley remains covered in dense fog all through the year.

Ahupe ghat is a one day medium level trek and can be started by reaching base village Khopivali. Khopivali can be reached from Mumbai through Murbad. State transport buses ply from Murbad at scheduled intervals. Private jeeps also ferry along the road from Murbad.
Alternately, Ahupe ghat can be reached through Bhimashankar at not much effort. 50 kms. from Ghodegaon, Bhimashankar, on the way to Dimbhe Dam a right turn leads to Ahupe ghat. The beautiful mountain road is certainly a delight with captivating landscapes.

या अहुपे घाटाच्या पायथ्याशी #खोपिवली गाव आहे तर माथ्यावर अहुपे गाव वसलेले आहे.
#ज्योतिर्लिंग #भीमाशंकर #अभयारण्य, तर #भट्टीचे_रान जे अनेक जीवचर, वनसंपदेने नटलेले, प्राण्यांनी भरलेले हे अहुपे गावाजवळील दाट जंगलाने भरलेले आहे. अहुपे करून पुढे भीमाशंकर ला जात येत.
#मुरबाड वरून खोपिवली गावी आलं कि समोरच गावामागे अफाट बेभान, बलदंड,बेलाग सह्याद्रीचे कडे खुणावतात. पावसाच्या दिवसात पांढऱ्या ढगांनी वेढलेले सुंदर आकार असलेले डोंगर व त्यामधून वर देशावर जाणारी अहुपे घाटवाट.
ओढ्यांच्या भरलेल्या वाटेने, शेतीच्या बांधाने पायवाटेने व कधी उभी छातीवर येणारी चढण चढत आपण जात असतो.
आजूबाजूचे हिरवेगार मखमली गालिचा तर सोबतीला मागेच गोरख व मश्चिंद्रगड हाकेला ओ देतील असे जवळच दिसतात.
घाट चढून आलो कि खोल दूर दरी व छोटस सपाट खडकाळ पठार. सर्वांपासून थोडं दूर बसून फक्त समोर निसरगाने त्याचा उधळलेला चमत्कार पाहत बसावं.
बेभान वारा तर कधी गवतावर पडलेलं मोती झालेले पाणी, रिकाम्या झालेल्या पांढऱ्या शुभ्र ढगांचा लपंडाव हिरव्यागर डोंगरात कोणाला मन हरवून जायला लावते, कोणाला नजर हटवता हातात नाही तर कोणी हे स्वर्गदृश आपल्या आपल्या अँगल ने कॅमेरा मध्ये सामावू पाहतो. काहीतरी कुठेतरे आत जीव सुखावलेला असतो, अश्या या निसर्गाला आपल्याकडून तरी काही गालबोट लागू नये असं वाटत.
कुठेतरी वाचलेले आठवते निसर्ग स्वतःच खेळकर असल्यामुळे स्वतःच 'चमत्कार' करून माणसाला खेळवतो ,रिझवतो तसाच तो त्याला विचार पण करावयास लावतो

TheZRides- Ahupe Ghat

Some destinations throw a challenge both to the bike and the biker. Ahupe ghat is one such destination. The route throws everything at you, including city traffic, potholes, gravel, mud, animal dung, sand, water, narrow blind turns, dense vegetation, and right at the end - no road at all. We ran out of road and had to take our bikes off-road to reach the edge of the cliff. It was worth it at the end, cause the sights along the way and at the cliff edge were simply breathtaking. The experience we gained was well worth the sore bums we obtained.

Recorded during the end of Monsoon Season 2018. Ahupe Ghat is located in Thane District in Maharashtra State of India is well-known trek route for going towards Ahupe Village located 3800 feets above sea level. Set amidst Western Ghats, this pathway offers great view of twin forts 'Gorakhgad' & 'Machindragad'. Base village of Khopivali is located 02 hours drive away from northern end of Mumbai.

From Kalyan railway station, you can get a jeep or st bus till Murbad and from there another jeep/bus till Khopivali.
Kalyan to Murbad- 50mins
Murbad to Khopivali- 30 mins
Initial trail is a bit confusing...but rest of the trail is well marked.
Ascent time- 3.45hrs
Descent time- 2hrs

Trek to mighty Ahupe Ghat!

The Mountains older than the Himalayas, the western ghats represents complex geographical features of immense importance with biophysical and ecological systems. The Ghats runs parallel to the western coast of the Indian peninsula traversing the States of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the eight hottest hot-spots of biological diversity in the world.The topography of the Western Ghats have major influence in the rainfall pattern in monsoon season in western India.

The Western ghats in rainy season are like heaven on earth. Starting from mid of june till Sept end, weather is so good that you can not resist yourself to miss any chance to enjoy nature's beauty.

We planned to trek one such destination into the Ghats.The mighty Ahupe!

Ahupe lies in the Malshej ghat region of Maharashtra near Murbad. The Ghat is a pass leading from Khopiwali village in Konkan, to Ahupe village on the deccan plateau. The Ghat drops vertically for almost 4000 feets to the Konkan below and there are many narrow gorges, with waterfalls. The climb from Khopiwali to Ahupe, near its upper reaches, is very narrow, and almost a gorge.The region witness extremely heavy rainfall in the monsoon season.
Ahupe village is very picturesque. It looks like a remote hamlet because on one side, is the steep drop to the Konkan, and on the remaining three sides, there is a mountain range enclosing it, cutting it off from the Deccan plateau proper!

Gorakhgad trek - unedited

Gorakhgad is one of the numerous forts situated in Thane district. It is located in Murbad region, on the extended range of Bhimashankar mountains. You can see Ahupe region of Bhimashankar forest from this fort. Also there is an old route which climbs to Ahupe and proceeds further towards Junnar.

This fort does not stand alone. Its a trio. Siddhagad, Gorakhgad and Macchindragad are the trio forts with Siddhagad as the biggest among three. Gorakhgad and Macchindragad are joined by a common ridge from which Gorakhgad is possible to climb Route to Macchindragad is so much broken that it is now unapproachable fort. While reaching up to Gorakhgad caves where we find water has a rock patch but easily manageable. The top of the rock passes through a bit tough route. Though not a technical climb, it has high exposure.
