Nagoya Basho 201807
Every year Nagoya hosts the Grand Summer Sumo Tournament (Nagoya Basho), one of the six major sumo tournaments held in Japan. This Grand Sumo Tournament is held in July at the Dolphins Arena (Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium), next to Nagoya Castle. Each tournament (Basho) lasts 15 days, during which the wrestlers compete to win the “basho”, which will be determined by the number of victories and defeats accumulated.
If you are in Nagoya in mid-July, take the opportunity to see the tournament!

Fun run brings Asian Games flavor to Nagoya
2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games Fun Run has brought Asian Games flavour to 2026 Asian Games hosting city Nagoya Aichi Prefectural on Saturday. Although it is till 8 years to 2026 games, local citizens, Aichi prefectural and Nagoya city government have shown great enthusiasm to welcome Asian Games. Around 300 people attended 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games Fun Run held in Nagoya Meijo Park.

Cyclists race through former city hall in Aichi - The Japan News
SHINSHIRO, Aichi — Cyclists “raided” a city hall in Aichi Prefecture on June 10, racing through the building between desks and shelves.
The cyclists were taking part in the Shinshiro X (Shinshiro Cross) event using a 1956 building that had until early May housed the city hall of Shinshiro, about 60 kilometers southeast of Nagoya. The city hall’s functions had already been moved to a new adjacent building and other facilities.

Nagoya (or 名古屋 in Japanese) is an important city in Central Japan. There are many things to do in Nagoya City, and we start our visit enjoying the Nagoya Castle (名古屋城). Nagoya Castle was very important historically and contributed to Nagoya's growth over the centuries.
This is the first video of our Nagoya, Japan trip. The entire series will be available here:
After the Nagoya castle, we went for a walk in the neighborhood to explore the Cultural Path. It joins various historical constructions, like the former residence of Sasuke Toyoda. Yes, the Toyoda family (founders of Toyota Motors) is from this region. We returned to the castle area to see Meijo Park before getting back to the hotel.
