UK's first 'poo bus' starts running
The UK's first bus powered entirely by human and food waste has gone into service between Bristol and Bath.
The 40-seat Bio-Bus runs on biomethane gas generated through the treatment of sewage and food waste.
The eco-friendly vehicle can travel up to 300km (186 miles) on one tank of gas, which takes the annual waste of about five people to produce.
It is run by tour operator Bath Bus Company and will shuttle people between Bristol Airport and Bath city centre.
The biomethane gas is generated at Bristol sewage treatment works in Avonmouth, which is run by GENeco, a subsidiary of Wessex Water.
GENeco general manager Mohammed Saddiq said: Gas-powered vehicles have an important role to play in improving air quality in UK cities but the Bio-Bus goes further than that and is actually powered by people living in the local area, including quite possibly those on the bus itself.

Triple decker New England 3rd floor apartment
Everyday is a fruit festiva! A day in a life of a raw vegan family!
This was one of the most original triple decker apartments I have been in.
A three-storey apartment building is often called a triple-decker or three-decker in the USA. These buildings are typically of light-framed, wood construction, where each floor usually consists of a single apartment, although two apartments per floor is not uncommon.
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, tens of thousands of triple-deckers were constructed, mostly in the New England region of the United States, as an economical means of housing the thousands of newly arrived immigrant workers who filled the factories of the area. The economics of the triple-decker are simple: the cost of the land, basement and roof are spread among three or six apartments, which typically have identical floor plans.[1] The triple-decker apartment house was seen as an alternative to the row-housing built in other Northeastern cities of United States during this period, such as in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Three-deckers were most commonly built in the emerging industrial cities of the New England region of the United States between 1870 and 1920. There are large concentrations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. They can also be found in the former industrial cities of New Hampshire, Maine, and Connecticut, as well as the New York City area (particularly in northern New Jersey). They were primarily housing for the working-class and middle-class families, often in multiple rows on narrow lots in the areas surrounding the factories. They were regarded as more livable than their brick and stone tenement and row house counterparts in other Northeastern cities, as they allowed for airflow and light on all four sides of each building.
It is estimated that by 1920, the city of Boston had over 15,000 triple decker houses. Areas such as Dorchester, Roxbury and Jamaica Plain were popular with the emerging middle class, and became streetcar suburbs as transportation systems expanded from the older, core sections of the city. Typically, the affordable triple decker homes attracted live-in landlords who would collect rent from the other two apartments.
In Worcester, Massachusetts sewer connection charges were based on street frontage, so builders favored houses with as little frontage as possible, This is one reason why three-deckers are often situated on narrow lots and are in rectangular shape, with the smaller sides at the front and the rear.[2]
[3]
In the textile mill city of Fall River, Massachusetts, thousands of wood-framed multi-family tenements were built by the mill owners during the boom years of the 1870s to house their workers. Many more were built by private individuals who rented their apartments to the mill workers and their families. This style of housing differed greatly from the well-spaced boardinghouses of the early 19th century built in Lowell and Lawrence, Massachusetts or the cottages of Rhode Island.[4]
The triple-decker style apartment house is also prolific in urban, working class neighborhoods in northern New Jersey (particularly in and around Newark, Jersey City and Paterson). They are sometimes locally referred to as Bayonne Boxes.
Similar brick apartment buildings were built in Chicago in the 1910s and 1920s. They are locally referred to as Three Flats.
Triple-deckers are usually defined by the style of their roofs, being either gable, hip or flat-roofed.[5] While typically lacking the ornamentation found on other homes of the Victorian period, they sometimes were built with certain decorative details, such as porch railings and posts. A typical feature of the triple-decker is a vertical three-sided column of bay windows, usually facing the street side of the house.
It is not uncommon for triple-deckers featuring two apartments per floor, with the units sharing a common wall (with each unit enjoying three sides of external light and air flow).
Each apartment typically has a front and/or back porch for each apartment, and, because the buildings are usually freestanding, windows on all four sides. Some triple deckers feature a single front door, which accesses all three units; others feature two entrances (one accessing the first floor unit externally, with the other leading to a stairwell to units two and three).
Indoor Inflatable playground for Kids | We visit the ALL NEW Inflata Nation Manchester!
Hi Guys!
Today the Three Beans, Charlie, Holly and Oliver, are going back to Inflata Nation Manchester! This place was absolutely awesome before, but, it has just had a huge re-fit, giving it an all-new layout and making it even bigger and better than ever! So, we decided we had to go back to take a second look and show you guys exactly what it's like inside now!
As a parent, we hope you find this video useful in terms of making an informed decision about visiting the centre as it shows how we experienced our time there, from a kids point of view.
The venue re-opened on Saturday 26th October 2019 and we went on Monday 28th October, during the half-term break, to see what it was all about.
Inflata Nation claims to be, The UK’s Original and Best Inflatable Theme Park
It’s two years now since Inflata Nation Manchester opened its doors and was the UK’s First Inflatable Theme Park back in October 2017, and they’re proud to launch the brand-new inflatable arena and all its fun new features.
The new arena features:
- A double decker inflatable arena – dual level inflatables for twice the fun
- Loads of new super slides to choose from
- Two lane slides with a jaw dropping 7m near vertical drop
- Dual bumpy slides
- An incredible tipping slide – this will test your balance and skills, so jump on and hold on for as long as you can because this slide is tipping up with or without you!
- Inflata Freefall – a new freefall activity for all thrill seekers do you dare to take the jump off the 6m platform? You’ll be wearing a harness and clipped to a freefall device to help you land safely.
New ball pit – it's even better and more bonkers with added ball pit guns... crazy fun!
- Improved interactive obstacle course for trying out those challenging ninja style moves, racing against the clock or a friend perhaps?
- Inflata Duel - the ever popular and hilarious gladiator podium is back.
- Inflata Bubbles – A bouncers’ paradise of soft bounciness for leaping, jumping, hopping, bounding, dancing or whatever makes you happy.
Some features were a bit too big and daring for the Beans and they didn't meet the height restrictions for everything, but, they gave it their best shot and will give you a tour of as much of the venue as possible! The most important thing is to see their genuine reactions to the arena and how much fun they had on their visit!
There is a dedicated area for under 4's and this is great! But, though Charlie has only just turned 5, Holly is 3 and Oliver just 2, they weren't entertained by this area for long and were keen to venture into the large arena and try everything else out too! It's worth noting that this is fine to do as all the really high slides are manned by a member of staff so they will not be allowed to go on anything unsuitable, but, they must still be accompanied into the main arena by an adult if they are 4 or under and you will need to watch out for big kids (and other adults!) if you are visiting outside of a specified 'Inflata Tots' session. It is free for the accompanying adult to bounce in the main arena with their toddler during a specified 'Inflata Tots' class, but, the adult must pay at all other times. (Personally, I didn't mind as I had lots of fun too! But, be warned, bouncing is quite hard work and you will also get very hot!) We had an absolute blast! But, I could also see how bouncing in the main arena with such little ones could be quite difficult at busier times, so, would definitely advise sticking to the Tots sessions if you have very young children or outside of 'peak' times, where possible, if you have children spanning several age groups.
All in all though, it was a great day out and made a fantastic change to the typical indoor soft-play areas we usually end up in!
We hope you have as much fun watching this video as we had making it!

Work begins on the UK’s i360, the world’s first ‘vertical cable car’
Work has begun on a massive tower and observation deck in the UK that will be the world’s first vertical cable car, to be called the Brighton i360.
At 162 meters, the i360 will stand taller than the London Eye. Its observation deck will allow visitors a 360 degree view at 138 meters above sea level.
Dubbed the world’s first “vertical cable car,” the 18-meter wide viewing platform will be able to carry 200 people on a 10-minute ride to the top of the tower, where visitors will be treated to a 360-degree view of Brighton and its coastline.
Plans call for a beachside visitor center at the foot of the tower where as many as 400 people could enjoy art shows or host parties or other events.
The i360 will cost over 46 million pounds to build and is slated to open in 2016.
Brighton officials hope the new tower will be a major revenue source and predict it will attract 800,000 visitors a year. Critics, however, bemoan the cost and say the structure will be an eyesore, with some going as far as calling the tower a “visual monstrosity.”

RICHIEFROMBOSTON Mike Decker and Rick Sears...
Seven great reasons to live in a park home
Park home life in Scotland offers a host of benefits, from affordability, strong community and simply beautiful and comfortable interiors.
Now being seen as an increasing popular way to retire or settle down later in life, more and more Scots are getting in on the trend.
I am estate agent Alan Ferguson, and I have compiled my top seven reasons why home hunters should give park home living a shot:
1.AFFORDABLE: You can get a brand new park home in most areas for a considerably lower price than a bricks and mortar home. As an estate agent,I have listed a three bedroomed park home for £74,000 in a neighbourhood where houses sell for more than £200,000. This means you get access to an affluent neighbourhood for a fraction of the price.
2.COMMUNITY: There is a warmth of community at permanent residential parks. Many of those living in the parks are older people who have come to live alongside like-minded people, those at a similar stage in life as them. Many parks are reserved for those older than 45. You’ll meet new friends and neighbours, and never be lonely!
3.SAFE: Park home living is always within a gated area, so security is tight. Residents need not have the fear of strangers loitering around outside their home or passing by. They are contained parks with staff to manage and keep secure. This means crime and disturbances are practically non-existent!
4.LIFESTYLE: Park home living is a way to adopt a whole new change to your lifestyle. It is a breath of fresh air, and opens you to a new world of opportunity to enjoy life. It could be the big positive change you are needing in life! This is perfect for retirement!
5.EASILY MANAGED: Park homes are basically small bungalows and as such easy to look after, clean and maintain when necessary. You won’t have to worry about doing too much hoovering or dusting to keep the home looking and smelling fresh. Modern park homes are designed to last, and easily maintained and fixed. A stress free home!
6.INTERIOR: The interiors of new park homes are second to none. Your whole home comes with brand new furniture, a brand new modern kitchen, bathrooms and beds… Curtains, blinds, carpets… - all matching and looking beautiful together. They are a work of art. These homes are also very easily adapted to the needs of the occupant.
7.ENERGY EFFICIENT: New park homes are well insulted and can stay cosy during the wintry months. They are fitted with gas central heating, which is powered by a boiler, supplied with gas from a refillable LPG cannister to the rear of the home. Modern park homes are praised for how energy efficient they have become!
That’s seven reasons why you should live in a park home! And I’m totally sold! Be sure to check out my listings for available park homes in the west of Scotland.
Double decker bus hits man in Reading
A man who was knocked down by a double decker bus in Reading got back on his feet immediately after the crash. Simon Smith can be seen flying almost 20ft as the bus hits him, but he gets back up as if nothing happened. Reading Buses said an investigation into the crash was under way. The cause of the crash is unclear, but no arrests have been made.
