Cetatea AIUD ✔
➤“În mijlocul orașului Aiud se păstrează una din cele mai vechi cetăți urbane din Transilvania (sec. XIII-XVI), Cetatea Aiudului.
Actuala Cetate are drept principale componente biserica reformată calvină și biserica evanghelică, înconjurate de o incintă fortificată. Cetatea a fost construită în secolul XIV, datorându-și aspectul actual modificărilor din secolele XVI și XVII. Cercetările arheologice au descoperit, sub actuala cetate, o așezare daco-romană, suprapusă de o fortificație de pământ.
Pe acest loc cercetările arheologice au relevat existența unei așezări daco-romane din secolul III, peste care ulterior a fost înălțată o fortificație de pământ. Peste această fortificație, a fost ridicată cetatea în două faze. Cercetările arheologice au decoperit prima fază ca având loc în secolul XIV. Aceste date intră în contradicție cu tradițiile locale săsești care indică ridicarea cetății înainte de marile invazii ale tătarilor din 1241, dar nu a putut fi confirmată această ipoteză. În prima fază cetatea era de fapt o biserică fortificată, similar multor alte biserici fortificate transilvănene.
A doua fază de construcție a cetății Aiudului a avut loc în perioada secolelor XVI-XVII. Forma actuală a cetății a fost definită în cea de-a doua fază de construcție, când zidurile au fost extinse.”

➤ ROM „Cetatea Alba Carolina este o fortăreață cu bastioane de tip Vauban, construită la începutul secolului al XVIII-lea în orașul medieval Alba Iulia pe Dealul Citadelei, având rol de fortificație strategică de apărare a Imperiului Habsburgic împotriva eforturilor militare ale Imperiului Otoman și de consolidare a puterii habsburgice pe plan local.
Anterior epocii în care a fost construită, în același loc s-au mai aflat alte 2 fortificații precedente. Castrul Roman al Legiunii a XIII-a Gemina (106 e.n.) și Cetatea Medievală Bălgrad (secolele XVI-XVII).
Expansiunea militară otomană spre Europa de Vest a luat sfârșit în 1683 sub zidurile Vienei prin biruința armatelor austro-polone. Victorioși, Habsburgii au avansat militar și politic spre est eliberând de sub dominația turcilor în 1687 Ungaria și în 1688 Transilvania, an după care trupele imperiale au ocupat principalele cetăți locale, pe unele reamenajându-le. Mai întâi au fost construite fortificații transilvane noi de mai mică importanță. Edificarea unor mari fortărețe a debutat de abia după ce în 1699 prin tratatul de la Karlowitz, respectiv după 1718 prin cel de la Passarovitz, otomanii au renunțat la teritoriile din Transilvania, Banat și - vremelnic - Oltenia, în favoarea unui protectorat austriac.”

Between 1541 and 1690 it was the capital of the Eastern Hungarian Kingdom and the latter Principality of Transylvania. Alba Iulia is historically important for Romanians, Hungarians and Transylvanian Saxons.”

The romanian painter , Vasile Pascu was born in 1910, in Romania.,
He painted almost 107 churches in the following techniques : oil, fresco and wax.
In April 1971 , the Military High Court condemns him to 10 years of detention. He was accused for propaganda against the communism. Was jailed and tormented in the concentration camp from Aiud , Romania. After he was released he came back to painting until he died, in 1978 . He was a great and brave person... a big name leaved behind.
