94. KBTU – former Government House

This is a grand five-storied building on a high pedestal. Today this building is the Kazakh-British Technical University. It is located on the street Tole bi, 59, on the square of Astana, between streets of Abylaikhan, Panfilov, Tole bi and Kazybek bi. Over the years it has been Government House of the Kazakh SSR, the Parliament House of the Republic of Kazakhstan and akimat of Almaty region. The story of this architectural monument is as follows. When Alma-Ata became the capital of KazSSR they had used pre-revolutionary buildings under government agencies, and in 1930 they started to design new buildings embodied the ideology of power and might of the Soviet state. Drafts of Government House by Moscow architect Boris Rubanenko was ready in the spring of 1938, but only after the war, in 1946, its construction began, which lasted for 9 years. In 1958, the Leningrad architect Eugene Levinson designed the area around the government building. Four round fountain of pink granite with color lights decorated squares from the west and east. Fountain Thousands of jets on the north side was designed by architect V. Panin in 1968. There is an urban legend, according to which, if the bride will run between the fountain jets, without wetting her dress, it will stay faithful forever to her beloved one.

From 23rd through 25th of April the 5th International Exhibition of Flowers, Landscape Architecture and Design «AstanaFloraExpo-2014» was held successfully at the exhibition center “Korme” in Astana. The event was organized by exhibition company «Astana-Expo KS» (Kazakhstan) and exhibition company «GreenExpo» (Russia).
Official support of the exhibition was provided by the Forestry and Hunting Committee of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimat of Astana city. The official sponsor of the exhibition – «3D Flowers KZ».

Kazakhstan suspends Communist Party

In Kazakhstan a court ruling has suspended the activities of the Communist Party for six months.



Its leaders claim the action has been taken because they joined with the Alga party who have been fiercely critical of the country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev.



The suspension means the parties could be excluded from a probable early parliamentary poll.

Бакытжан Сагинтаев поделился историей об отдыхе с семьей на горнолыжном курорте Шымбулак. Тогда внучка акима, восхищенная красотой алматинских гор, буквально поручила ему сохранить природу в мегаполисе.

Однажды мы поехали на Шымбулак, походили там, затем пошли в кафешку пообедать. Сели возле окна. У меня внучка, ей 10 лет. Смотрит она через окно - там красивые горы, деревья, сосны, ели. Она мне говорит: Ата, ты должен все это сохранить, - рассказал аким Алматы Бакытжан Сагинтаев.
Он отметил, что проблема экологии касается каждого алматинца, ведь если 10-летний ребенок говорит об этом, то такую задачу должны решить все вместе.

Semipalatinsk Orphanages

This section never made it into the film. It shows the situation at Ayagus orphanage. Filming took place with full permission of the Ayagus akimat and the deputy director of the orphanage. The girl in the film, Rufina, got her operation in the end, but died as a result of complications.

Let us protect Kok-Jailau

Let us protect Kok-Jailau -- one of the most popular spots in the Ile-Alatau National Park!

Ecological Society Green Salvation has started collecting signatures under a petition for protection of Kok-Jailau. Kok-Jailau valley is located on the territory of Ile-Alatau National Park. Akimat (Mayor's Office) of the city of Almaty is planning on developing a new ski resort in this area.

The project includes construction of an international resort with a total length of the ski tracks of over 100 km, construction of ski tows, hotels, restaurants, retail and entertainment centers; development of infrastructure -- auto road, auto parking, electrical and water supply facilities! All of this is going to be developed at the expense of the state budget! With a consideration that private investors will build-up the resort with commercial and residential estate later on!

Thus, very soon Almaty residents can lose their beloved place of recreation where the quite and beautiful wild nature will be at first replaced by the roar of machinery, and later - by the ski resort with endless fences all-around the private land plots.

We call everybody who cares about the future of the National Park to support the Petition for protection of Kok-Jailau, which will be sent to the President, members of the Parliament, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Tourism and Sport, Ministry of Environmental Protection, Akimat (Mayor's Office) of the city of Almaty, and political parties of the country.

Полет на вингсьютах. Часть 2. Теперь над БАО.
Команда воздушных акробатов Red Bull Skydive Team осуществила второй полет – над Большим Алматинским Озером. Атлеты совершили прыжок с высоты 4 000 метров с юго-восточной стороны озера, пересекли его в свободном полете и успешно приземлились. Полет состоялся 21 июня 2019г. ⠀
Полеты были организованы при поддержке Visit Almaty, Акимата г.Алматы и Управления Туризма г.Алматы @kikimov_maksat. ⠀
Red Bull Skydive Team – интернациональная команда. Марко Вальтеншпиль и Марко Фюрст живут и тренируются в Австрии, Даниэль Дэ Ла Бланка – в Испании. ⠀
«Мы проводим совместные тренировки каждый месяц. Тренируемся во всех дисциплинах скайдайвинга, фокусируемся на полете. Очень важно знать, как действуют члены твоей команды в полете. Ведь во время свободного падения вы не можете общаться, так что надо знать всех так же хорошо, как самого себя», - поделился секретами авиаакробатической кухни Марко Вюрст. ⠀
Разработка полетов над Кок-Тобе и БАО проводилась в течение полутора месяцев. И тем не менее, до момента взлета в любую минуту проект мог быть отменен. ⠀
К зиме наступит время разработки новых проектов, в том числе, спортсмены планируют вернуться к обсуждению нового амбициозного проекта в Алматы, детали которого пока не раскрывают.

Astana (; Kazakh and Russian: Астана, translit. Astana; Kazakh pronunciation: [ɑstɑˈnɑ]; Russian pronunciation: [ɐstɐˈna]) is the capital city of Kazakhstan. It is located on the banks of the Ishim River in the north portion of Kazakhstan, within the Akmola Region, though administered separately from the region as a city with special status. The 2017 official estimate reported a population of 1,029,556 within the city limits, making it the second-largest city in Kazakhstan, behind Almaty.Astana became the capital city of Kazakhstan in 1997, and since then has developed economically into one of the most modernized cities in Central Asia. Modern Astana is a planned city, like Brasília in Brazil, Canberra in Australia, Washington, D.C. in the United States and other planned capitals.
