It was my first time doing a homestay experience in the countryside of Japan but it sure was a very memorable and eye opening experience for me.

Here are all the activities I did in Akita:
I hope this video gave you some insight on what life can be like in the countryside of Japan! I love the countryside more as it's less explored by tourists so you really can see this raw kind of Japan and understand the local culture and history more.
Each prefecture has it's own speciality and history so what better way to immerse yourself in the culture than to try a homestay experience? :) I know a lot of you are worried if you can't speak Japanese but honestly you will be fine! It's not the language that matters, it's the connection between two people so step out of your comfort zone and try it. Japanese people in the countryside tend to be very friendly too and I'm sure they will give you a helping hand if you are lost even if they don't speak English.
If you do decide to go, let me know how your experience was and also tell Ishigaki-san I said hi! Hopefully she remembers me?! LOL

Kita the Akita - just a gal looking for a home! (ADOPTED)
This is Kita the Akita. She is a 3 year old Akita up for adoption through Blue Moon Akita Rescue and she is in Kansas City. Kita lived with a family and is just wonderful. She walks beautifully on leash, knows her basic commands and is great with other dogs. However, she does not like kitty cats. Watch the whole video for some great shots of her with Tsunami and Jade her buddies. This video also shows some great dog to dog interactions and group training. If you mention you saw her on Youtube, I will pay for her adoption fee!
