Akiyama Saneyuki (秋山 真之?, April 12, 1868 -- February 4, 1918) was a Meiji-period career officer in the Imperial Japanese Navy. He was famous as a planner of Battle of Tsushima in the Russo-Japanese War. The Japanese general Akiyama Yoshifuru was his elder brother[2] and the Japanese politician Hisako Ōishi was his granddaughter.

Saka no Ue no Kumo , or Clouds Above the Hill is a Japanese historical novel by Shiba Ryōtarō originally published serially from 1968 to 1972 in eight volumes.A three-year NHK television special drama series based on the novel and also entitled Saka no Ue no Kumo was shown in thirteen episodes from 2009 to 2011.The novel is set in the Meiji period and focuses on three characters from the city of Matsuyama: Akiyama Yoshifuru, his brother Akiyama Saneyuki, and their friend, Masaoka Tsunenori, better known as Masaoka Shiki.The novel follows their lives from childhood through the First Sino-Japanese War, culminating in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–05.

My grandfather and Akiyama Yosifuru principal
The grandfather on father's side entered the attack on the Lushun fort, and the maternal grandfather was building the monument of Akiyama Yoshifuru with people of the village.
The grandfather was summoned on September 1, Meiji 37(1904), went over the continent on November 28, and entered the attack on the Lushun fort. It got injured by the Tung-chi-kuan-shan North Fort on January 1, Meiji 38. It was hospitalized in the first-aid center in Dalian on January 6, and hospital was left on May 7.Military service was exempted on September 16, Meiji 38.
The monument which Akiyama Yoshifuru wrote stands. It is near the house where the mother was born.Here, Akiyama was respected as an educator.This monument was built by people of Yamanouthi-Koyama area in Showa 3(1928).There is a maternal grandfather's name.
By the way, Tatsuki photo studio is foundation in Meiji 16 (1883), and is a parents' home of one of the photographers representing Japan Tatsuki Yoshihiro.
Satomi Announcement of NHK's Saka no Ue no Kumo
On the 15th was a press event for NHK's special dorama Saka no Ue no Kumo.
It was the first announcement of Ishihara Satomi playing the wife Sueko of Akiyama Saneyuki played by Motoki Masahiro.

愛媛県松山市からです。坂の上の雲の三人、秋山真之、秋山好古、正岡子規の名言を追ってみようという旅です。まず今回は秋山真之の言葉を素読してみましょう。軍人さんですが、時の大事さを経済とかけて語っているところが面白いです。元来優しい方であったようで、本木雅弘さんの雰囲気はまさに適役だったと私は感じました。GWに旅行を設定して楽しみにしていましたが、直前で風邪をひいてしまい大幅に予定を変更し、体力温存の旅になりました。それでも得るものは多く、あながち病も悪いことばかりではないとつくづく感じましたね。何はともあれ、また来たくなるような魅力満点の松山へ、皆さんもどうぞ。
