Inside Aklak Air's hangar in Inuvik, Northwest Territories
On September 29, I was fortunate enough to be given a quick tour of Aklak Air's hangar at Inuvik Mike Zubko Airport. Aklak Air is an Inuvialuit owned airline based in Inuvik in the Northwest Territories in Canada. They operate year-round and seasonal scheduled services, as well as charter flights throughout the western Arctic.
I hope you enjoy!

TRIP REPORT | Canadian North Boeing 737-200 COMBI Edmonton to Yellowknife
Canadian North is an airline that operates vital services for people in two of Canada's territories, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, and they happen to operate a particularly unique aircraft out of Edmonton to Yellowknife on Mondays - the Boeing 737-200 Combi! At the end of June, a fellow enthusiast and I took a day trip up to the capital of the Northwest Territories to experience this classic aircraft and visit one of the largest cities in Canada's North. This trip has been something that's been on my bucket list for a while, and I'm so happy to be able to cross it off! This trip report consists of the first half of the journey, from Edmonton International Airport to Yellowknife Airport on a 38-year-old 737-200 Combi, C-GOPW. Hope you enjoy this unique trip report!
Thanks for watching!

GRAVEL RUNWAY 737-200 Landing in 2018, Dawson Yukon - Air North
June 29, 2018 - 6:00am to 7:15am
On my way to a wedding on June 29th, 2018, I got the chance to fly one of the last remaining passenger Boeing 737-200s still in operation.
The flight departed at 6am Pacific Time from Whitehorse (YXY), Yukon’s capital city. The hour long flight took us to Dawson, Yukon (YDA).
I was fairly lucky, because this flight from Whitehorse to Dawson is typically flown by an ATR-42. I believe they put the 737-200 on the route this day because the aircraft flew a cruise ship charter to Fairbanks this next day. Alaskan cruise ship tourists come to Dawson due to the city’s association with the Klondike Gold rush.
The plane is equipped for gravel runways, which means it’s the only Air North jet that can fly to Dawson, Yukon. Air North’s 737-500s are not gravel equipped.
Only about 30 passengers on the flight.
The aircraft is officially a 737-200 Combi, but was in a full passenger configuration. It’s the only 737-200 in the Air North fleet. Registration is C-GANV.
There was no assigned seating, so I grabbed the front row (1F) for takeoff and near the back for landing and a good view of the unique thrust reversers.
I returned from Dawson to Whitehorse on an ATR-42 the next day:
(UPDATE: the runway has since been paved, and the Air North 737-200 retired)
If you like the 737-200, check out some others I caught in the past few years
Enjoy!

First Air ATR 42-512 [C-FTIL] Landing at Edmonton Airport ᴴᴰ
First Air is a small airline that serves Northern Canada with a fleet of Boeing 737-400s and ATR 42/72s primarily from bases in Yellowknife and Iqaluit. One of their busier routes is the Edmonton to Yellowknife route, sometimes operating two flights a day in competition with Canadian North. Here's one of their flights operated by the ATR 42 (my first time filming one, incidentally) arriving on runway 20 at Edmonton International Airport back in May. ATC is included, enjoy this short clip!
Thanks for watching!
