I've grown up traveling to Asia multiple times with my family and wanted to have an experience of going abroad alone and this has probably been the best travel I've ever had. Ise is located in the country side of Japan. It was truly a traditional Japanese experience where I stayed in a ryokan and tried tons of unfamiliar Japanese food. This is only PART of my experience in Japan but stay tuned for Tokyo.

Visiting Ise Jingu, part 1: the Outer Shrine
People have been visiting Ise Jingu from all over Japan for well over 1000 years. Originally it was pilgrims drawn to the most sacred site in Shinto, the indigenous Japanese religion. Today, mostly tourists drawn to serene atmosphere of the shrine area, as well as the historical hospitality district adjacent to the shrine. Or has it always been some combination of the two? Let's ponder that question on the walk from Ise-shi station to Geku -- the outher shine. Once there, you can experience the proper way to visit a Shinto shrine, while enjoying the peaceful energy of the surrounding forest.

Lyrics:
They say I'm a Shinto guy
All the pilgrims see the shrine
they always praying next to it
always praying next to it
tryna offer it food, food
praying at the shrine, shrine
you can look but you can't enter
if you enter ima call the priestess
you will fear the priestess
fear, the priestess, fear, fear, fear, the priestess
so leave Ise alone, boy
I'm just tryna pray boy
and learn my kami
my shrine, my shrine, my shrine, my shrine
my shrine, my shrine,my shrine, my shrine,my shrine, my shrine
My lovely Ise shrine
My lovely Ise shrine
My lovely Ise shrine
In the Kofun period of Japan
My Ise got you
She's got me chigi

THE PATH OF WILDNESS
The Path of Wildness is easy to find
The course of a stream
Leaves blown in the wind
A beast's track through the brush
And the direction of our first inclination
The Path of Wildness is an answer and response to a prescribed way of life which may leave some individuals with a sense that their living is little more than a series of pre-determined, step-like episodes between birth and death. The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don't bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone.

Lonely Japan Shrine shrine ロンリー日本神社神社 - Abandoned Japan 日本の廃墟
I found this beautiful old shrine after following an overgrown trail leading off from a small road in the mountains of central Japan. The shrine passed an old cemetery and stone statues of Jizo and followed the course of a very old stone water channel where small black salamanders swam lazily in the slow current. The shrine was made up of two buildings including a small balcony structure at the front where community members likely gather during festivals as well as the main shrine structure in back. The shrine structure housed five separate wooden shrines enclosed beneath a protective structure which is open in the front. The inside of the shrine building was very dark and I do apologize for the poor quality of the video.

Yutaki Waterfall & Lake Yuno-ko - Tochigi - 湯滝 湯ノ湖 - 4K Ultra HD
A few weeks ago we uploaded a small video of Lake Yuno-ko during a strong snow storm or blizzard (take your pick) which prevented us to take the time to shoot a nice video of the place, its bridge and its waterfall… So we decided to wait for better weather conditions in order to give you the chance to fully enjoy the place in winter.
The Yuno-Ko lake and its waterfall, also known as Yutaki/Yudaki or Yu Falls, are two very famous tourist spots further away from Nikko and Chuzenji and often ignored by many. To be fair, both places are the most gorgeous in early spring, autumn and our favorite season : in Winter. Indeed, due to a huge amount of snow, most of the place is closed to the public but still accessible if you are ready to walk in the snow and equipped for it, giving you a unique chance to enjoy the place… ALONE without any other visitors around that could detract from your time there.
There is always something magical about snow and seeing such huge falls (70 meters highs and 110 meters long) surrounded by ice, snow-covered trees and the silence that always comes with snowy places, turns an already beautiful place into something surreal that can only be truly appreciated in winter.
