Scuba diving from the Grand Palladium Colonial Resort with Aqua Excursions who are based at the resort. Ten dives with pretty good visibility. Water temperature was 27C dipping down to 26C degrees. Filmed with a Go Pro3+, red filter, occasional use of lights and macro lens.

We Got Kicked Out of The Ocean - Akumal, Mexico (18)
February 2017 Update - Snorkeling with the sea turtles has been suspended until further notice. This is due to the environmental impact on the turtles and their habitat by the Environmental Protection Agency of Mexico (Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente
The ocean floor at Akumal is covered with sea grass, one of the gree sea turtles’ favorite foods. They’ll linger for hours in the bay, casually munching on the grass, and giving you a chance to get up close.
GETTING THERE
There's a huge sign and overpass to get into Playa del Akumal. You can't miss it driving South on 307.
Head 35 km south of Playa in a rental car, taxi or the most economical option, the public bus: COLECTIVO.
From Playa take the colectivo vans that are lined up on Calle 2 between Avenidas 15 and 20. The coordinator will point you to the van to get into. Remind the driver where you want to stop. Look for the white walkway to cross HWY 307 then walk about 10 minutes down the main street to the bay. The drivers pick up and drop off local residents, workers and tourists alike anywhere along the highway from Cancun to Tulum. The cost depends on the distance, about 25-30 pesos per person from Playa to Akumal. When returning just stand on the side of the highway in the direction needed and a colectivo van will be along shortly to pick you up. For getting back to Playa, do not cross the walkway but wait in the shelter on the highway just past the road to Akumal Bay.
The best advice is to arrive before 9am, when the waves of Scuba divers arrive and muddy up the waters.
Remember to use only baby sunscreen or no sunscreen at all to protect the turtles and their habitats.

My favorite beach (on this planet). Our family has gone on hundreds of Scuba dives out of the Akumal Dive Shop from this beach. Great people work at the Akumal Dive Shop. Great people. Great place.

*NEW* Akumal - Swimming with Turtles, Mexico 2014
Swimming with the turtles in Akumal, Mexico. If you rent out a life jacket and take your own snorkel you WILL see plenty of turtles. I saw 4-5 in the short amount of time I was in the sea. Stunning place to visit, just get a taxi there, cost us about £35 return from the Riu Tequila.
This was shot with a Qumox SJ4000. Its basically a GoPro, its compatible with GoPro attachments, but its a fraction of the cost. I paid around £70 and whilst the quality is not quite as good as a £250-£350 GoPro its more than adequate.
