Al Zubara Fort is a great tourist attraction in Qatar. It was originally built by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani in 1938 to serve as a Coast Guard Station. It was later renovated into a museum to display exhibits and art works.
Qatar Ministry of Tourism controlled by 1938 to present.
Zubara is the largest archaeological site in the whole Qatari Peninsula.
Qatar has only one UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as Al Zubara Fort.
It is one of the best preserved examples of an 18th and 19th century Gulf merchant town.
It is located in the northern part of Qatar at 1 hour drive from Doha.
It was made by limestone, compressed mud, wood and masonry.
