How To Get There

The car-free island is located on Khalid Lagoon, across the water from Al Majaz Island and opposite the majestic Al Noor Mosque. You can access the island via a pedestrian bridge behind the mosque.

Calm and peaceful island surrounding greenary and beach area

Al Noor Island - Sharjah, Butterfly Garden

Serene Island picnic spot calmly located unnoticed within the busy Sharjah Metropolitan. This cool spot is the Al Noor Island located at Khalid Lagoon across Al Majaz waterfront in Sharjah. The entry to the island is through a bridge located at the rear of Al Noor Mosque. The walk on the bridge itself gives a sense of tranquillity.
The attractions at the Al Noor Island are as follows
*Butterfly House
*Art & Sculpture
*Literature Pavilion
*Radiant Art of Lighting
*Lushy Landscapes
*Cafe

The island houses a Butterfly Garden with 20 plus species of colourful dream flyers. The butterfly garden is located in a building that is having very unique architectural facade. The butterfly house is truly nature inspired with live plants grown inside and the butterflies are freely flying inside in a controlled temperatures.

The walk around the island is very calm and intriguing, surrounding with nature. Numerous plants and trees are planted in the island that attracts various types of birds.

Apart from the nature lovers, the island offers treat to the Art Lovers as well. Traditional and modern artistic sculptures are located everywhere in the island. The sculptures like Torus, Fossil Rocks are a treat to watch.

The Literature Pavilion provides a comfy seats for the literature and Poetry lovers to sit and read in the comforts of the smooth and mild background music.

The Island's magic is at its strongest between dusk and midnight. The Radiant vibrant light shows around the trees shows its true colors. It is real treat to watch. The Night sky can also be watched through the powerful telescope located in the Island.

To quench the thirst and have light refreshments after the walk around the island, the island's Cafe is a place.

Even Though I have covered majority of the attractions, I encourage viewers to visit the island, and I bet it will be quality time well spent.

The best time to visit the island is during the winter time.

Noor Island Sharjah - Entrance Fee - AED 35 per person aged 13 and above; AED 20 per kid aged 3 – 12

Al Noor Island Working Hours:
Weekdays: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Weekends: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight

Butterfly House Working Hours: Daily 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Since its opening in December 2015, Al Noor Island has won a host of prestigious international awards. The Island was named Best Leisure Architecture in Africa and Arabia 2016 as part of the International Property Awards, and was also the recipient of the IF Design Award 2017 and German Design Award 2018.



The Butterfly House was awarded the WAN Metal in Architecture Award 2016 in appreciation of its unique design in using metal in an innovative way, and in the same year was recognised in the Iconic Awards 2016, one of the largest independent international awards on architecture and design, in the Best Architectural Design category. Also in 2016, this inspirational destination won at the Arabian Property Awards and was a finalist in the WAF 2016 Awards. In 2017, it won the German Design Award and the A Design Award.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I was in Sharjah in Feb for the 9th Annual Sharjah Light Festival.

We covered so many places in 5 days and also 3 evenings were dedicated to the Sharjah Light Festival where different city landmarks were lit up with the light shows created by an array of international artists.

And the Grand Finale was amazing, the fireworks were spectacular.

It was quite a different and unique experience, and I loved being a part of it.

A big thank you to Visit Sharjah for having me, it was quite a memorable trip. I am glad I could capture it all for you guys through this vlog.

I had footage of 80-82 mins, and I have cut it short to 40 mins. I know it's a long vlog, but I wanted to show everything and I didn't want to make two parts of it and cut the flow.
