Historical Javed Manzil or the Allama Iqbal Museum
#GREATIQBAL #AllamaIqbal @historical
The Javed Manzil or the Allama Iqbal Museum is a national monument and museum in Lahore, Pakistan.[1] Muhammad Iqbal lived there for three years, and died there.[2] It was listed as a Tentative UNESCO site, and was protected under the Punjab Antiquities Act of 1975,[3] and declared a Pakistani national monument in 1977. In honour of Iqbal, a Pakistani national poet,[4] it was converted into a museum, inaugurated in December 1984.[2]
The building's construction was undertaken by Iqbal, to serve as his residence. The building was European in style and was completed in 1935. The cost of construction was 42,025 British Indian Rupees.[1] The site was built on a plot purchased by Iqbal in 1934 for Rs. 25,025, covering an area of 7 kanals, 31,500 square feet (2,930 m2). Iqbal named the residence Javed Manzil after his son Javid Iqbal.[5] Of all Iqbal's residences in Lahore, only the Javed Manzil belonged to him.[6]
On 10 May 1961 the Government of Pakistan announced plans to convert the site into a museum to preserve Iqbal's belongings and the display of his famous works and manuscripts. The Pakistani government bought the residence from Iqbal's son for ₨3.5 million (equivalent to ₨11 million or US$100,000 in 2013).[2] The museum covers the historical period from 1877 to 1938, and contains handwritten drafts of Iqbal's works, photographs, certificates, awards and medals and educational degrees. Javid Iqbal also donated six hundred objects belonging to his father to the museum. There is also a library and nine galleries in the museum.[1] The museum was renovated and was inaugurated in December 1984 by Pakistani President Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq.[2]

About Yasir Pirzada
Yasir Pirzada, a career civil servant (CSS officer), is one of the leading Urdu columnists who have built a wide readership over a very short period of time. His weekly column, Zara Hat Kay – “off the beaten track” – in Jang, Pakistan’s most widely circulated Urdu daily, addresses issues of an ordinary citizen in a unique and humorous style which is original and quite distinctive. The All Pakistan Newspaper Society has awarded him with the Best Columnist Award twice in a row. Apart from this, Yasir has also identified a new dimension in the Self-Help theories and has come up with some unique and innovative ideas for young men and women who aim to improve their lives in a country like Pakistan. He is a public speaker and delivers motivational and inspirational lectures on self-help, success, happiness, critical thinking, peace, personal growth, leadership, stress management, spiritualism and rationalism, communication skills, positive thinking and similar other areas of life for every age group including businessmen, corporate executive, employees, students, housewives, networkers, sportsmen etc.
Yasir appeared in the Central Superior Services Examination (CSS) and passed that exam as youngest ever candidate and stood 78 all over Pakistan. He completed his Masters degree afterwards and then joined Civil Services Academy in 1996. As a federal officer, he has served as Commissioner Income Tax and Member Administration Capital Development Authority.
Yasir approaches his typically serious subjects in a uniquely poignant manner, using an idiom of subtle humour and satirical innuendo. His columns approach a variety of social issues directly relevant to the human condition and Pakistan’s emerging bittersweet psyche. Yasir has inherited this light-hearted yet serious mood of writing from his father, Ata ul Haq Qasmi, himself a respected literary figure. Yasir is probably the only Urdu columnist who has consistently written on those issues, which were alien to the Urdu press earlier, including topics like feminism, gender discrimination, religious extremism, radicalism etc.
Yasir has so far written three books which are compilation of his columns. He has also written, apart from many other satirical scripts for different TV channels, a comedy drama serial Afsar Bekar e Khaas for PTV that was aired for more than two years continuously from 2009 to 2011 and was widely appreciated.

Inside Javid Manzil Allama Iqbal Museum in 4k
A film of me inside Javid Manzil Allama Iqbal Museum, on 5th November 2015, with glimpses of Allama Iqbal relics and items on display there.
Named after my father Dr Javid Iqbal, Javid Manzil was Allama sbs last residence and my childhood home. Constructed with my Dadis (paternal grandmother) life savings, this house was completed in 1935, a few days before my grandmothers death. Allama sb lived here as a tenant of my father for the last 3 years of his life. The room where he passed away is preserved as it was the last night of his life.
The property was acquired by the Government of Pakistan to convert into Allama Iqbal Museum when I was 12, in 1977. Almost all Allama sb relics and items on display are on loan by my father and now owned by me.
The Museum was closed for renovations and repairs in January 2016, and has yet to reopen......
This was the first time I visited Javid Manzil after my fathers passing......

Allama Iqbal's Life | A Documentary
Allama Muhammad Iqbal, also known as Sir Muhammad Iqbal, was a prominent poet, philosopher, lawyer and politician from British India. He was born on November 9, 1877 in Sialkot, Punjab, India (now in Pakistan) and died on April 21, 1938 in Lahore, Punjab. He is quite famous for his seminal attempts to lead his fellow Muslims in British-governed India towards the foundation of a distinct Muslim state; these efforts finally came to fruition and realization in the country of Pakistan. As an enthusiastic and passionate Muslim, Allama Iqbal believed that human beings' future lies in a union of Islamic nations, unrestricted by the bonds of distinct nationhood, and completely emancipated from imperialism and colonialism. In Press TV's gripping and riveting Iqbal: The Eastern Wisdom, through interviews with Javid Iqbal, Allama Iqbal's deceased son, and other individuals, we take you to the past into Allama Iqbal's childhood and educational/academic life. You will be also familiarized with Allama Iqbal's philosophy and poetry by being exposed to some of his thought-provoking poems.
