18 февраля 1935 года Мустафа Кемаль Ататюрк посетил Аланью, прибыв сюда по морю. Во время своего визита он остановился в доме Тефвика Азакоглу, где прогостил несколько дней. В память о великом вожде и об этом его визите в Аланью владелец дома спустя определенное время передал этотдом министерству культуры Турции в качестве подарка, и в 1987 году после проведения здесь реставрационных работ и подбора экспозиции в этом здании был открыт для посетителей Дом-музей Ататюрка в Аланьи.

Городом остались довольны. Хоть в Алании конечно развит по большей части только пляжный туризм, культурные программы оставляют желать лучшего.
В Алании живёт много русских, примерно 1-2 % населения. Около 4000 человек. Встречаются повсеместно, и это ещё не сезон.

Atatürk was in Izmir where the weather was very cold at the beginning of March 1930, so he decided to take a break in Antalya's warmer weather. He passed through Isparta and Burdur before arring to Antalya on 6 March.
The streets from Kepez all the way to the city centre were lined with people excited to catch a glimpse of their great leader. He was presented with a Villa by the people of Antalya and from the balcony he gave a speech to offer his thanks.
He stayed in the villa for one week until the 12 March, visiting various museums, historical ruins and farm lands before returning to Ankara after his rest.
