We can tell you off the bat, Albania is absolutely epic! Before we chat about the country, in our first vlog we take a food tour in Tirana to get a feel for Albanian cuisine and to get situated in Tirana itself. Albanian cuisine is pretty unique, clearly delicious as well, taking inspiration from a lot of similar known balkan tastes but with it's own special twists. As you'll see in the video, we really enjoyed all the food we tried and Albanian Food Tours actually took us to more places than we showed - in one video there's only so many meals you can share! The video probably only covers half of the full Tirana tour typically on offer, as I mentioned at the end of this vlog.

Hello guys! I'm an American girl named Nwando. Welcome to my Tirana vlog / diary. I hope this Tirana vlog can help guide your travel!
Besides the Tirana nightlife experience, I didn't really do anything in Tirana! It was just 2 days of chilling honestly. I just wanted to check out the nightlife in Tirana and relax because by the time I arrived in Tirana, I had already been to Norway, Greece, and 2 cities in southern Albania in a matter of 5 days! So I was really exhausted honestly. So yeah, I didn't really do anything. I had plans to visit nearby Kruja/Krujë and I really wanted to make a Kruja vlog, but I was just soo tired and decided to just relax in Tirana and do nothing honestly.
I arrived in Tirana from Dhermi and it took about 4 hours. I took an 8 am bus so I arrived around 12pm.
Even though I did not do much in Tirana, you should know that there is stuff to do in Tirana. Many of the people I met at my hostel went on a tour of the city to see sites relevant to Tirana's communist past. One of the main attractions in Tirana is visiting a huge bunker built by the communist dictator Enver Hoxha. When I go back to Tirana, I definitely plan to see more of these things.
And the last thing I want to say is... because everyone asks me, but there is no problem being black in Albania as a traveler. I have experienced ZERO racism in Albania. The Balkans is the most friendly place I have ever traveled to and a traveler being black in Albania is not an issue AT ALL. VISIT ALBANIA!!! :)

Albania Travel Vlog: Exploring the Albanian Riviera
Frida and Luna start their journey back up the coast of the Albanian Riviera from Ksamil, Saranda. Along the way we visit Porto Palermo, and fly the drone over the Ali Pasha castle. Then we stop for coffee at the Panorama Cafe in Dhermi before heading down to Drimadh Beach for a swim. As we continued our drive up the coast, we stopped for lunch at Llogara National Park where we tried to buy honey in Orikum, but they were sold out from high demand. Our journey continued north through Vlore heading back to Tirane. Then I'm not sure if I burned through all my batteries or if I passed out from the glass of raki I had for lunch because this is where this story ended. mEow!

Today we finally travel to what's known as the Albanian riviera - the stretch of coast in South Albania known for it's beaches ( Gjipe beach being one of the most well known) , coast line and incredible views. Our first few days exploring around Albania by car has been amazing, travel in this country is so varied and random that we really should have expected the beaches would be the same!
Gjipe beach is something special, part of the reason is possibly it's location on the coast - being such a mission to walk to it likely puts some people of their travel to reach it. For us it was worth the walk in the sun to see the beach itself, incredibly clear water, insane views, bars and not too crowded at all.

We've had such an epic time exploring Albania, but sadly we had to cut our road trip short to get to Macedonia to fix Staceys laptop. In this vlog we take a bus from Tirana to Skopje with a lot of randomness and the odd unexpected stop over haha. That's travel days for ya.

Now is probably a good time to address something controversial around the correct name for the country of Macedonia. While Google Maps shows the country is called North Macedonia, there's still huge debate about what's 'correct'. It seems to vary depending on nationality, geography, political stance and personal opinions — in the conversations we've had in Serbia, Greece, Macedonia and Albania the opinions are strong and the tension between these 4 in different combinations is still alive (based on our perception from the intense comments on our videos anyway). As tourists we try to be as respectful as possible but there's absolutely no way we can please everyone. All we know now is the people living here want to be known as Macedonia, so it seems respectful to call them as they wish in their country.
Regardless, Albania we loved you and hope to be back to travel around more next time and get up north also!
