Alberni Pacific steam train ride Port Alberni, Vancouver island 2007
Take a train ride on the Alberni Pacific railway located on Vancouver island, Canada. The train leaves Port Alberni and ends at the McLean mill which is Canada's only steam powered sawmill. The steam locomotive is a 1929, Baldwin, 2-8-2T, built for use as a logging locomotive. Canada's is know for it's beautiful steam locomotives and this one is no exception. This locomotive has stainless steel side rods probably due to the constant rain on Vancouver island. Sorry I didn't get to film the saw mill more but my camcorder battery died. Filmed in August, 2007.

ALWAYS PLAY SAFE WHILE RAILFANNING. I had permission from the crew, and paid extra fare to ride along in the cab. All trackside shots were taken a proper distance from the right of way as well.
