Road Trip to Portland, Oregon with friends! Sampling food from the many food trucks (pods) and, of course, local craft beers. A trip to Portland isn't complete without a stop at Voodoo Doughnuts for a maple bacon doughnut! Mississippi Ave and Alberta Street were our favourite places to stroll around.

This Charming Bungalow Home Is To Be Found In The Alberta Arts District Of Portland, Oregon
This charming bungalow home is to be found in the Alberta Arts District of Portland, Oregon. Alberta Arts is a funky neighborhood known for its artist community. The area has been gentrifying in recent years, with many of the older houses being spruced up or completely remodeled. This one was built in 1912 and was extensively renovated a few years ago. It features the exposed rafter tails, broad eaves supported by knee braces, and decorated porch structure that are hallmarks of the Arts & Crafts bungalow style.
The small house has 1,044 ft2 (97 m2) plus a finished basement “bonus” room. There are two bedrooms, one on the main floor and one upstairs tucked under the roof. A new kitchen features cabinetry built from reclaimed Douglas Fir and a countertop that was salvaged from a bakery.
The living area has a large arched opening separating the living room from the dining room. Small Arts & Crafts bungalows typically use some kind of large cased opening to set off the dining and seating areas in what is essentially one modestly-sized space. Dividing up the room may seem like it would make the spaces feel smaller, but in fact the framed opening creates the perception of added depth. The key is to make the opening large, almost the width of the room, so that it doesn’t actually close off either space.

Travel Guide to Portland, Oregon l The Expeditioner
In this travel video tour of Portland, Oregon, I travel to Portland, one of the most unique cities in the United States.
I started my trip off by hopping off a plane and then immediately hopping onto a bus. But not just any bus, a bus operated by Brewvana Brewery Tours, the mostly women-run craft beer brewery tour company. Portland, or know as Beervana to some, is home to 55 breweries within its borders, and is truly a beer-lover's paradise. On my tour we made stops at Rogue Ales & Spirits, Laurelwood Pubic House & Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery and Sidecar Bar, where I had the chance to sit down over a pint with the founder and owner of Brewvana, Ashley Rose Salvitti.
While in Portland, I stayed at the Tiny House Hotel, a hotel made up of, you guessed it, tiny houses. In the next portion of my video guide I give a tour of my crib to show what it's like to live and stay in a tiny house.
Then, in an effort to get a chance to experience the famed brunch scene in Portland, I stopped in at The Tin Shed Garden Cafe, located down the street from where I was staying in the New Alberta Arts District.
In the interest of learning more about food, I headed to the downtown location of the Portland Farmers Market, located in a beautiful stretch of downtown Portland. Here, I got a tour of the grounds with Mona Johnson, then had the opportunity to meet up with some of the vendors, including Matt Choi of Choi's Kimchi Company, and famed chef and artisanal pickle impresario, David Barber of Picklopolis and Bingo! Sandwiches.
In need of a little peace and serenity, I then visited the Lan Su Chinese Garden, a peaceful and beautiful oasis in an otherwise busy and hectic part of downtown.
When visiting Portland, there's no reason to spend all your time in the city, especially with so much to do outside the city limits. The next day I took a road trip with local Matthew Domingo to explore the Columbia River Gorge and the numerous trails and waterfalls just off the road you can check out.
Then, to wrap things up, we stopped in at Hood River Organic near the riverside town of Hood River, an organic orchard and farm run by East Coast ex-pat Dan Thall, who gave us a tour of his land. Once the day ended we then headed out to happy hour at Solera Brewery in the imposing shadow of Mount Hood and then into town for a dinner featuring mushroom pizza with mushrooms Dan had grown and recently delivered to the restaurant.

South Waterfront in Portland, OR Moment V2 Wide Lens Test 4k Video Walking Tour
Walking through the South Waterfront in Portland, Oregon (us state). Testing the Moment V2 18mm Wide Lens with a Smooth Q that isn't properly weight balanced. We start by the Aerial Tram and OHSU, walking to the South Waterfront Greenway looking at the Willamette River then walking back to the Elizabeth Caruthers Park. Recorded with binaural audio.
This is recorded on my first day using the Moment 18mm Wide Angle lens for smartphones. The camera isn't perfectly stabilized and it wobbles slightly when looking straight.. when you add weight to one side of the camera, which is the lens in this case a counterweight needs to be added to the other side. Currently testing how much weight exactly needs to be added to balance everything perfectly and allow me to walk while keeping the camera stabilized. You would think it would be easiest to keep the camera looking straight..
I'm just gonna put the video up as is instead of retaking it. I need to move forward and record all the locations I had planned.
