Bisate Lodge Wilderness Safari Villas, Republic of Rwanda
Wilderness Safaris Bisate Lodge, situated next to Rwanda’s renowned Volcanoes National Park, is on track to open for guests on 1 June 2017. Comprising just six forest villas, Bisate Lodge will offer a luxurious base from which to enjoy an extraordinary gorilla conservation experience and a holistic exploration of this beautiful region.
Situated within the amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone, the 27-hectare Bisate site is incomparable in terms of its natural splendour, with sweeping views towards the Karisimbi, Bisoke and Mikeno volcanoes. It is close enough to Kinigi (the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters) to be convenient for guests’ morning gorilla treks, but far enough away so as to feel remote and even – as a result of the onsite indigenous reforestation project – part of the spectacular Park.
Featuring six luxurious forest villas, the real generosity of Bisate in the Rwandan context will be the amount of private and exclusive space that surrounds the Lodge, cosseting it in a rare natural landscape brimming with Albertine Rift biodiversity and beauty. Each spacious forest villa will comprise a generous yet intimate combination of bedroom, reception space and bathroom, all warmed by a central fireplace and with breathtaking views out across a private deck towards Mount Bisoke.
Bisate’s sophisticated architectural and interior design will be rooted in Rwandan building tradition as exemplified in the design of the Royal Palace of the traditional monarch. This spherical, thatched structure echoes the thousands of hills that dot the Rwandan landscape, while the richly-detailed interiors will exhibit surfaces and screens made from a variety of woven materials with strong resonance in Rwandan culture. Book: US$ 1,100+/Night.

OIL ROADS - UNRA needs 600MUSD to construct 600KM of roads
Government will need close to 600M USD to facilitate the construction of critical roads in the oil rich albertine region.
These roads are to aide in the transportation of crucial machinery needed for oil exploration and refining.
Uganda National roads authority executive director Allen Kagina says these roads have been prioritized by government and must be ready by 2020.
Samuel Ssenono reports.
Sabyinyo Exploration
They say Sabyinyo Volcano, where Rwanda, DRCongo, and Uganda meet, has never been climbed from the Rwandan side as it is too steep and dangerous. A Frenchman fell to his death in 1982 trying to reach the first peak from Rurambo Ridge. After 4 days of blazing trails, trying different routes, some rappelling (abseiling) climbing and rope ascending but mostly scrambling, 4 of us reached the highest of the 3 prominent peaks of Sabyinyo; myself, my son Daniel, and 2 Rwandan colleagues, Kambogo and Emmanuel. Keep your eye on the Volcanos Park website for when this gem will be open for tourists to climb it for the most beautiful climb in East Africa. or

Rwanda 2011 Pt 3 Nyungwe National Park
Rwanda 2011 Pt 2 -- Nyungwe National Park
Another re-edited portion of the video of our trip to Rwanda. This one features the canopy walk near the Uwinka Outlook.
Located in the Albertine Rift, Nyungwe Forest is a high-altitude, mountainous rainforest in southern Rwanda. Its area is approximately 970 square kilometres. Nyungwe's biodiversity is astonishing even by Africa's standards and is one of the most endemic species-rich areas in all of Africa. However, like much of natural Africa, Nyungwe is under constant threat from human and environmental stresses.

Nyungwe Park | World's Best Canopy Tour
An above ground forest Canopy tour is a great way to experience a rainforest with an unmatched view of a very special part of the Nyungwe park. This spectacular rainforest is placed in southwestern Rwanda, at the border with Burundi, south, and Lake Kivu and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Nyungwe rainforest is probably the best preserved rainforest in the mountains throughout Central Africa. It is located in the watershed between the basin of the river Congo to the west and the basin of the river Nile to the east. From the east side of the Nyungwe forest comes also one of the branches of the Nile sources. Nyungwe Forest National Park was established in 2004 and covers an area of approximately 970 km² of rainforest, bamboo, grassland, swamps, and bogs. The nearest town is Cyangugu, 54 km to the west. Mount Bigugu is located within the park borders.
Nyungwe forest has a wide diversity of animal species, making it a priority for conservation in Africa. The forest is situated in a region where several large-scale biogeographical zones meet and the variety of terrestrial biomes provide a great span of microhabitats for many different species of plants and animals.
The park contains 13 different primate species (25% of Africa's total), 275 bird species, 1068 plant species, 85 mammal species, 32 amphibian and 38 reptile species. Many of these animals are restricted-range species that are only found in the Albertine Rift montane forests ecoregion in Africa. In fact, the number of endemic species found here is greater than in any other forest in the Albertine Rift Mountains that has been surveyed. The forest, which reaches its maximum altitude of 3000 meters above sea level, is of particular interest for the presence of colonies of chimpanzees. courtesy wikepedia

Mount Bisoke is an active volcano in the Virunga Mountains of the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. It straddles the border of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, but the summit is located in Rwanda. It is located approximately 35 km northeast of the town of Goma and adjacent Lake Kivu.
