I decided to shoot this video while my clients were Tasting Wine at White Oak Winery in the Alexander Valley wine region in Northern California. White Oak Winery is a small production boutique winery in North of the Town of Healdsburg. Whit Oak is a client favorite of mine because of the beautiful grounds, the amazing wine, and the value pricing. The locals love White Oak as well.
Healdsburg Wine Country Travel Tips
Healdsburg is one of the great wine towns of California and is the perfect place to make your home base for exploring this western part of Sonoma County. Nearby are three famous wine Appellations: The Alexander Valley, the Dry Creek Valley, and the Russian River Valley. On WCG we have wine trails and maps for each of these spectacular wine growing regions. Healdsburg backroads are breathtaking. You will see Redwood Trees, the Russian River, rolling hills of vineyards, and of course wineries. What a delight! In Healdsburg and surrounding its famous Plaza, there are many wine tasting rooms. You can spend an entire afternoon sipping wine walking from one wine tasting bar to the next.
For dining, the Healdsburg restaurant scene is fantastic. Food critics rave about the varied cuisines and the fresh ingredients supplied by local purveyors. Outside of the town you find other favorites restaurants including the Farmhouse Inn and the Madrone Manor. There is plenty of lodging in town, but be sure to book early, Healdsburg is a popular destination for wine and foods lovers.
Most of the wineries in Sonoma have picnic areas. What fun it is to pack a lunch and picnic in the vineyards. Choices for buying your picnic goodies are Big John’s Market and the Oakville Grocery in Healdsburg, the historic General Store on Dry Creek Road, and the funky Jimtown Store on Highway 128 in the Alexander Valley.
There is much more to do in this area than exploring food and wine. Healdsburg has many boutique shops and art galleries. There are two golf courses or you can head to the resort town of Guerneville and hike among the Redwoods in Armstrong Grove State Park. During the summer months, the Russian River beaches are popular and a fun family activity. Many wineries have Bocce Courts, and that’s always another exciting thing to do.
Our Healdsburg planning guide is packed with all this information and much more. Spend some time with the manual planning your trip, and you are sure to have a fantastic time in Healdsburg wine country.

Sonoma Valley is anchored by Santa Rosa on the north end and the little mission town of Sonoma with its beautiful plaza on the south end. Between the two towns are a couple dozen wineries - all of them interesting. They range from tiny tasting rooms to some of the most beautiful monumental wineries anywhere. The wines are generally full of flavor and nose with long finishes that make wine tasting a treat. Inexpensive to high-end lodging and fine dining is available in Santa Rosa but for small town wine country ambiance try Sonoma.

#KincadeFire
Kincade Fire and firestorm Sonoma County CA, October 2019 #kincadefire
The Kincade Fire burned in Sonoma County California from October 23-31, 2019. This video is about two nights and one day of this fire, filming on the front lines with fire crews from across California, working to to defend homes and wineries of Geyserville, Alexander Valley, and Windsor, California. Filmed on the first night up Geyser Road above Geyserville and then filming again on Saturday-Sunday from Pine Flats Road, Hwy 128 in Alexander Valley and in Windsor. A huge thanks to CalFire for their professional crews in the field and to every mutual aid fire-crew and contractor that assisted on this fire. Special thanks to the photographers of the Press Democrat and specifically Kent Porter for his support during this disaster.
Discover Russian River Wineries HD 2012
WineQuesters.com brings you a brief overview of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley wineries. See what is there and why visit this wonderful wine region.
The Russian River Valley is a large area of low hills and agriculture influenced by cool coastal breezes and fog. It is perfect for Pinot. Exploring this region involves driving quiet country roads and exploring small towns. If you want to walk instead of drive you have that option in Healdsburg. Healdsburg has a beautiful town plaza in the center with quality shopping and restaurants in the town core. There are also a LOT of tasting rooms, over 20, to keep you busy for days, or even years.
Traveler services are centered in Santa Rosa and Healdsburg with some services in Windsor. Healdsburg is a wonderful small town to hang out in but is more expensive than Santa Rosa. Santa Rosa has a wide range of hotels and restaurants and the downtown has been nicely redeveloped. You can't go wrong staying anywhere in the region.

Venge Vineyards - Calistoga, California
The Venge (ven-ghee) family has farmed vitis viniferra varieties in Napa Valley for nearly a half-century. The family's viticultural roots flourished in 1976 with the purchase of a 17-acre vineyard in the Oakville District that was planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Nils' son, Kirk Venge, gravitated to winemaking at an early age. He proved to be as talented a winemaker as his father, making wines in his own style, with a vision to build his own legacy in the valley. In 2008, Kirk achieved his lifelong dream and acquired full ownership of Venge Vineyards from his family. Today, Kirk continues the Napa Valley heritage, focusing on select vineyard sites that produce fruit worthy of bearing the Venge family name.
