Alexandra Hotel Blue Mountains
Originally built in 1903 and named after Queen Alexandra, the consort of King Edward VII, the Alex incorporates a grandiose, traditional design masterminded by local architect F.C. Goyder, combining it with all the modern features one might expect from a destination hotel.
Amazing town of Leura in Australia
Leura's elevation of 985 metres (3,232 ft) AHD leads to occasional snowfall in winter and a climate that reflects all four seasons distinctly.
The village centre lies on Leura Mall which is divided at this point by a wide grassy median strip planted with flowering cherry trees. The historic streetscape has been largely preserved, although there was local concern regarding the development of a shopping complex on the site of a former distribution warehouse. Redesigned to better suit the Leura Mall ambience after consultations with the wider community, the new shopping complex is now complete, hosting a Woolworths supermarket and liquor store. The historic post office building is now home to a news agency. The Alexandra Hotel, not far from the railway station, offers panoramic views from its back veranda. There are a substantial number of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops along Leura Mall, among the boutiques, gift and antique shops.
Leura is home to many formal, English-style, cool-climate gardens, which provide elegant walks and the opportunity to visit when open to the public in early October each year.
In 2016, Leura was named in the list of top 50 most irresistible, exotic, historic and postcard-worthy small towns in Australia.

Hydro Majestic - $35 million return to the former glory
The Hydro Majestic - An Iconic Historic Landmark, The Jewel Of The Blue Mountains.
Blue Mountains Hydro Majestic hotel makes a $35m return to its former glory.
After being closed for almost a decade, one of Australia's grandest 20th-century hotels rediscovers its renowned grandeur and elegance.
Built in 1904 by retailer Mark Foy, the Hydro Majestic was a hydropathic spa until 1909.
It then became a luxurious hotel which was described as Mr Foy's private lodge.
Mr Foy was very wealthy and philanthropic. He bought luxurious furnishings, fantastic sculptures, great artworks, and brought a lot of very wealthy friends to his private lodge.
The dome in the casino room was bought by Mr Foy and shipped from Chicago to Sydney, then transported by bullock train over the Blue Mountains.
In 1920, the Hydro Majestic made headlines when Australia's first prime minister Edmund Barton had a heart attack and died there.
During World War II it was used as a hospital for American soldiers.
Interior designer Peter Reeve, who has been working to restore the hotel's original look, said the hotel had an incredibly glamorous past:
We want to take people back to a time of incredible decadence and somewhat fun, a bit like an opium den. There were lots of costume parties, there was a permanent band that played every night, there was a changing dinner menu every night, it was dress-for-dinner every night.
The Hydro Majestic Blue Mountains is one of the most historical and iconic hotels in Australia. Situated on the escarpment edge overlooking the Megalong Valley which adjoins the World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains National Park in Medlow Bath, NSW, Australia. With the picturesque Megalong Valley and Majestic lookout, abundant wildlife and a scenic attractions right at your doorstep.
