Imports & Exports in Brazil - A look inside the port
Importing and exporting in Brazil is a complicated process. The Port of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil is a deep seaport located in All Saints Bay, the oldest port in South America. We came down to the port to get a glimpse inside and take a look at the process.
We are opening a trampoline park with many components. There will be over 30 trampolines, a ninja course, climbing wall, foam pit, soft park for infants with a second story slide. Two shipping containers full of our trampoline equipment have just arrived at this port. It has been a long process but here are some tips we learned about importation into Brazil along the way.
1. Do your homework. Find out what taxes apply to the type of products you are shipping but plan on paying around 100% tariffs and fees for your shipment.
2. Choosing a competent supplier who understands the import/export processes is crucial. We did our research. It was more economical to import trampolines into Brazil than to buy them in country. Even with the high tariffs.
3. The three most important documents for customs are Commercial Invoice, Parts List with material composition and Bill of Lading. I cannot stress how important is to make sure these documents are correct.
4. Find a good freight forwarder. A freight forwarder takes care of the shipment from the time it arrives in the port to moving it to your final destination. Before your containers arrive in the port, plan all the logistics. We have about 10 tons of equipment to get from the port to our park in Piata. There are many steps in the process but a good freight forwarder will help you with every detail. We used HC Logistica and are very happy with their services.
HC Logística Importação e Exportação LTDA.
Endereço: Av. Luis Viana, 6462, Wall Street Empresarial, Sala 107, Torre East (A), Patamares - Paralela, Salvador Bahia - CEP 41.680-400
The largest exports are petro-chemicals and paper. There is a highway dedicated exclusively to the transportation of the petrochemicals from the refinery to the port. No cars are allowed on this road. There are about 300-400 containers of paper that are shipped to China out of this port every month.
We were very impressed at how clean, organized and structured this port was. The employees were kind, skilled and educated. They all spoke English very well. There are big plans to double the size of this port in the next 3 to 5 years. Video 53

Florianopolis Travel Guide - Brazil Magical Atmosphere
Florianopolis Travel Guide - Brazil Magical Atmosphere
Florianopolis (Portuguese: Florianópolis) is the capital of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. Half of the city is on the mainland of Brazil while the other half is on the Santa Catarina Island. It has some of Brazil's most beautiful beaches. Recently, Florianopolis has become one of the most popular destinations in Brazil for people who are looking for superb beaches, beautiful scenery, interesting culture and friendly people. It has also experienced a real estate boom, with Brazilians looking for a better quality of life away from the chaos of the big cities, especially from the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul. The city proper currently has an estimated population of 420,000 people. The Greater Florianopolis Metro area is home to about 1 million people.
The northern beach resorts Jurerê, Daniela, Canasvieiras, Brava and Ingleses get very busy during the summer and there are plenty of hotels, restaurants and other conveniences for the tourist. Eastern beaches, like Joaquina, Mole and Moçambique are among the best surfing beaches and popular with young people. Beaches heading south include Campeche, Armação and Morro das Pedras, which are all very beautiful and also good for surfing.
Isolated and unspoiled beaches, like Lagoinha do Leste and Naufragados, can be found at the southern end of the island and can only be reached by trail. Lagoa da Conceição is a famous natural attraction, and the centerpiece of the island; it is relatively shallow, with high winds making it a world-class location for windsurfing. Peri Lagoon is quieter on the other hand, and great for nature walks. The city of Florianopolis is quite modern, with large shopping malls, chain and high-end restaurants and many glamorous bars and nightclubs. The highway system serving the city is very good.
A lot to see in Florianopolis such as :
Catedral Metropolitana - One of the most beautiful buildings in the city, located at Praça XV de Novembro.
Municipal Market - Formerly used as the city market place, this market on Largo da Alfândega still holds some interesting sights.
Hercílio Luz Bridge - The postcard symbol of the city, inaugurated in 1926 linking the island to the mainland.
Lagoa da Conceição - A large beautiful lake in the center of the island.

The centre of Florianópolis, with its alleys, rows of typical houses, churches and museums, contains many examples of colonial architecture. Among these are the former government palace, nowadays the Cruz e Souza Museum (which took its name from the famous poet from Santa Catarina who formed the symbolist movement) and the Public Market built in 1898 which sells food and local handicrafts under the shade of a one-hundred-year-old fig tree.

Finisher Video at Ironman Brazil (Florianopolis) 2019
IRONMAN Brazil offers a scenic course and sparkling beaches, which have been attracting athletes from all over the world for over 17 years.
On May 28, 2017 Tim Don posted the incredible 7:40:23 finishing time and broke the World record. Many athletes did also break their personal records turning the race into one of the fastest in the world.
Called the place to be and a mixture of St. Tropez and Ibiza without the attitude by the New York Times, Florianopolis, Brazil on the Island of Santa Catarina boasts world-class entertainment, beaches and restaurants. The sun-soaked stretches of coastline in Floripa, as locals affectionately call it, make up forty-two beaches in total. Athletes lining up for the event will find themselves in a sanctuary for sports, natural life and tourism from around the globe.
The 2.4-mile mass swim start is located at Jurere Internacional Beach – in front of La Serena Restaurant. Expect the two-loop swim to be in an average temperature of 70F (21C), while the mostly flat two-loop 112-mile bike course will challenge athletes with four major climbs and descents while athletes will finish with a 26.2-mile run 4 looped flat run course.
The temperate climate with low humidity also makes Florianopolis a perfect location for an IRONMAN, and a vacation.
Headquarters vs Foreign Subsidiary: The 20-80-100 Rule | Luca Orlassino
International Business Challenges. Have you ever witnessed a headquarters manager - if not an entire delegation - visiting a foreign subsidiary of a multinational company? What was your role in the game? Were you the visiting manager, part of the host team, an independent observer, or the big boss expecting results in the Headquarters?
Depending on your answer, you may have a very different story to tell. I’ll tell you mine. It took place many, many years ago. Its main character is Simon.
International business dynamics are as complex to manage as they are compelling and rewarding. Good cross-cultural management is always a key success factor and a high-return investment.

2- Usina do Gasômetro
A vista do Guaíba é sensacional.
