Granada, Spain: The Exquisite Alhambra
More info about travel to Granada: Granada's dominant sight is the Alhambra, the last and greatest Moorish palace. For two centuries, until 1492, Granada reigned as the capital of a dwindling Moorish empire. As Christian forces pushed the Moors farther and farther south, this palace was the last hurrah of a sophisticated civilization.

ALHAMBRA PALACE - SPAIN [ HD ]
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain.
It was originally constructed as a small fortress in AD 889 on the remains of Roman fortifications, and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the mid-13th century by the Nasrid emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar of the Emirate of Granada, who built its current palace and walls. It was converted into a royal palace in 1333 by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada. After the conclusion of the Christian Reconquista in 1492, the site became the Royal Court of Ferdinand and Isabella (where Christopher Columbus received royal endorsement for his expedition), and the palaces were partially altered in the Renaissance style. In 1526 Charles I & V commissioned a new Renaissance palace better befitting the Holy Roman Emperor in the revolutionary Mannerist style influenced by Humanist philosophy in direct juxtaposition with the Nasrid Andalusian architecture, but it was ultimately never completed due to Morisco rebellions in Granada.
Visiting Alhambra in Granada, Spain
Come join us as we visit the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Some places or attractions you visit don't live up to the hype; however, the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء) certainly does and having an opportunity to see its splendor from afar and up close is one of the greatest travel moment we've experienced in recent memory. As impressive as the Alhambra is from certain lookout points in Granada it is once you enter its grounds up close and person that you have a real appreciation for the intricate details and sheer size of the place. Our biggest suggestion when visiting the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء) is to give yourself plenty of time to take it all in. It is an attraction that is so impressive and massive that spending anything less than half a day does not do it justice.

Visiting Alhambra in Granada, Spain Travel Video Transcript:
Good morning guys. As you can tell from the way we are dressed it is fill in the blank cold this morning. We're really excited to be exploring the Alhambra here in Granada. We are up bright and early. We sure are. We have tickets for 10 am to visit the Nasrid Palaces but we've come in early. We're going to have a look around visit the gardens. There is two reasons why we decided to come so early this morning. And it was actually minus temperatures this morning. That is why I'm dressed the way we are. We have our hats, we have our toques and we have our scarves on. Apparently there is the best light in the morning. And you beat the crowds a little bit. Let's do this.
The Alhambra is one of the most impressive sights in all of Spain and it receives over 2 million tourists every year. This complex of palaces, gardens and fortresses once formed the citadel that was part of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada, which was the last Muslim dynasty to rule along the Iberian Peninsula from the years 1230 to 1492.
The Nasrid Palaces are a collection of rooms, courtyards, and spaces that were used for business, administration, and for private living quarters.
The architecture is characterized by its carved arabic inscriptions, its intricate cedar wood ceilings, and its colourful tiles arranged in geometric patterns.
Inside the Nasrid Palaces, we visited the Court of the Myrtles, whose key feature is a pool fed by two marble fountains. Not only did this help cool the palace, but it also acted as a symbol of power since water was usually in short supply.
From there we continued to the Hall of Ambassadors, which is the largest room in the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء). This was the grand reception room where the sultan’s throne was located. One of the most impressive aspects of this room is the carved wooden ceiling, which is a representation of the Seven Heavens of the Islamic Paradise.
Our next stop was the Palace of Charles the V, which stands out from the rest of the constructions at the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء). Construction of this palace was ordered by Charles the V who was Holy Roman Emperor at the time. He wanted to establish his residence close to the Alhambra palaces, though there is no evidence he ever lived here.
There was still plenty left to see in the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء), so our next stop was the Alcazaba. This is the oldest part of the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء) which was built as a stronghold for surveillance and defence. We climbed up the two towers, which offer some of the best views of Granada.
And that’s pretty much a wrap for our visit to the Alhambra (الْحَمْرَاء). We only spent a half day touring the grounds, but you could easily spend a full day there - especially if you visit in the spring or summer once the gardens are already in bloom. Our parting tips for the Alhambra are to visit with plenty of time, and to wear comfortable shoes because you will be walking around a lot! That’s it for now, and we’ll see you in the next video.
This is part of our Travel in Spain video series showcasing Spanish food, Spanish culture and Spanish cuisine.

Visiting Alhambra in Granada, Spain!
For for visiting Alhambra tips and information, please visit:
The Alhambra is one of Europe's most visited attractions.
Located in southern Spain, in the city of Granada, the original Alhambra complex was built in the 9th century, then rebuilt by the moors in the 11th century.
Slowly the Alhambra was transformed and by the mid-1300's was a palace as well as a fortress.
After the moors were defeated, the Alhambra continually evolved under subsequent monarchs and therefore boasts both Muslim and Christian architecture.
The detail throughout the Alhambra is undeniably extraordinary but delicate.
Because of this, the number of visitors to the Alhambra are limited so you will need to get your ticket in advance and you must have the printed copy with the barcode. Each visitor to Alhambra's palace has an allotted time that you are allowed to enter, make sure you don't miss it.
Please visit our website for more useful tips and information.
Also, when your finished your tour be sure to take a seat in one of Granada's many cafe's to enjoy a view of the Alhambra from a distance!

Al'Hambra Palaces, Spain Part 4 الحمرا (Travel Documentary in Urdu Hindi)
The Alhambra الْحَمْرَاء The Red One, the complete Arabic form of which was Qalat Al-Hamra) is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain.
Alhambra's last flowering of Islamic palaces were built for the last Muslim emirs in Spain during the decline of the Nasrid dynasty, who were increasingly subject to the Christian Kings of Castile. After being allowed to fall into disrepair for centuries, the buildings occupied by squatters, Alhambra was rediscovered following the defeat of Napoleon, who had conducted retaliatory destruction of the site. The rediscoverers were first British intellectuals and then other north European Romantic travelers. It is now one of Spain's major tourist attractions, exhibiting the country's most significant and well-known Islamic architecture, together with 16th-century and later Christian building and garden interventions. The Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the inspiration for many songs and stories.

Alhambra in Granada, Andalusia - Spain 4K Travel Channel
The Alhambra, an impressive palace and fortress complex on the hill in Granada, is undoubtedly one of the most famous buildings in Spain and one of the most visited attractions in Andalusia.
The Sabikah Hill of Granada was already inhabited in pre-Roman times. After the conquest of the Iberian Peninsula by the Moors, they built a castle here. The castle withstands some wars against the caliphate of Cordoba and uprisings of the population. Later, the Almoravids and Almohads took control and further extended the castle to a fortress.
When Muhammad ibn Yusuf ibn Nasr had to escape under the pressure of Castille and Leon to the south, he could conquer Granada and made it the capital of his new empire. This resulted in a huge flow of refugees, that caused an economic and cultural upswing. After disputes with Ibn Hud of Murcia, he pledged himself to a vassalage of Ferdinand III of Kastilien, in order to retain his empire. As Emir Mohammed I ibn Nasr, he founded the Nazarite dynasty and ordered the construction of the citadel (Alcazaba) and the expansion of the Alhambra as the residence.
As the interface between the Christian kingdoms and North Africa, the following sovereigns had to form shifting alliances in order to keep the country independent. Often the Strait of Gibraltar was at the center of conflicts of interest. Some rulers were dethroned, others killed. Intrigue, coups, and assassinations were almost normal.
Under Yussuf I, the Nazari kingdom reached its peak despite the turmoil. The influence of the Moroccans was stopped, but Granada had no allies against Castile. Yussuf I built the Nasrid Palace and the Comares Tower, the heart of the Alhambra.
The country could be consolidated again and given a new lease of life only under Muhammad V. Muhammad was friends with Peter of Castile (the Cruel), who was weakened even in the Castilian civil war. A cultural single combat developed. Peter of Castile commissioned to built the Alcazar in Seville in the Moorish style, with master builders from Granada. In turn, Muhammad built the Lion's Palace in the Alhambra which is the masterpiece of Moorish architecture in Europe to this day.
The Nasrid Palaces also include the summer palace Generalife.
Later, the Alhambra still was supplemented with the palace of Charles V, which was never completed.

please read more:

The Adhan is Called at Alhambra Palace
This is the moment a man called the Adhan at the Alhambra palace in Spain.
The Adhan was called by Mouaz Al-Nass who is of Syrian Origin. He told IlmFeed he felt the walls had missed 'hearing the call to Allah'.
Muslims came to Spain in 711 and ruled for almost 800 years and the Alhambra palace was built by the Muslim Rulers of Granada.
In 1492, Granada came under Christian rule and Muslims were forced to convert to Christianity or risked facing torture. Many converted outwardly but practiced Islam secretly.
By 1501, no Muslims officially remained in Granada.
