Sunrise in ALISHAN | EasyCard Fail, Bento Boxes, Belly Rubs & Kaohsiung Luck | 12 Days in Taiwan EP2
In this second episode, we hit the road and leave Taipei for the famous forests and mountains of Alishan before heading over to Taiwan's second largest city, Kaohsiung.
You never know what's going to happen when you're on the road and these few days are no exception. Just when I thought I had bought the right card for my wife, turns out it wasn't an EasyCard at all. icash2.0 didn't work on the bus we were taking up to Alishan and we learned the hard way. Once up in Alishan, we woke up ridiculously early for the sunrise and while it looked like it was going to happen, that ended up being a fail as well. Still, we had a great time hiking through the forest the reminded me a lot of Lord of the Rings (Entwood or Mirkwood, take your pick). When we finally made it to Kaohsiung, we were pleasantly surprised by a city that is much less hectic and crowded than Taipei. This allowed us to freely explore places like the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, and the super artsy Pier-2.

Taiwan Alishan Forest Railway, 23rd November 2016
A trip on the Alishan Forest Railway between Chiayi and Fenqihu on 23rd November 2016. The weather was rain and clouds so the view was poor most of the time. The train is formed of five air conditioned coaches with the locomotive at the rear pushing the train uphill. The leading coach is fitted with driving equipment to control the locomotive. Its not the best video but it is worth travelling to Taiwan to experience. At Fenqihu there is a museum with steam engines and a diesel. When I visited the line was closed beyond Fenqihu due to storm damage on the line. I have no idea if it will reopen.
2005/06/02 衝上阿里山(Alishan National Scenic Area ,Chiayi County, Taiwan)
阿里山國家森林遊樂區位於台灣嘉義縣阿里山鄉，是由林務局規劃與管理的一座國家森林遊樂區，也就是傳統上阿里山風景區的所在地。
阿里山實際上並不是一座山的名稱，只是特定範圍的統稱，正確說法應是「阿里山區」，地理上屬於阿里山山脈主山脈的一部份，東鄰玉山山脈，北接雪山山脈（註：許多資料指稱阿里山又名塔山，標高2,484公尺，實則不然。）。
阿里山自然景觀極為豐富，日出、雲海、晚霞、神木與鐵道（阿里山森林鐵路）並列為「阿里山五奇」，而「阿里雲海」更是台灣八景之一[1]。
2001年交通部觀光局規劃成立阿里山國家風景區，其範圍涵蓋原有的阿里山國家森林遊樂區之外，並擴大至阿里山鄉、梅山鄉、竹崎鄉和番路鄉的其他風景區[2]，但阿里山國家森林遊樂區及阿里山森林鐵路仍由林務局持續營運管理。
阿里山區的林相豐富，從亞熱帶的闊葉林到寒帶的針葉林都有。800公尺以下丘陵為熱帶林相，主要由相思樹、構樹構成。800～1,000公尺是以樟樹、楓樹、楠樹和殼斗科植為為主的暖帶林林相。1,800～3,000公尺左右的林相為溫帶林，紅檜、台灣扁柏、臺灣杉、鐵杉及華山松稱為阿里山五木在此大量生長，阿里山的千年檜木群是目前台灣最密集的巨木群。3,000～3,500公尺主要是台灣冷杉，呈現寒帶林的林相
居住在阿里山山區的鄒族（Tsou）原住民，目前有達邦（Tapango）與特富野（T'fuya）兩個大社，兩社各有自己的頭目與長老、發展領域與文化傳統
「阿里山神木」原本指的是阿里山森林鐵路旁一棵樹齡達到三千餘年的紅檜。該樹木為日本人小笠原富二郎於1906年11月發現，被尊稱為「神木」。發現時樹高53公尺，樹齡達三千年以上，樹幹在距地面一公尺半高處的直徑是4公尺66公分，樹幹接者地面處的週圍達23公尺，材積達五百立方公尺，阿里山森林鐵路通車後，成為聞名中外的台灣地標之一。
1956年6月7日清晨，神木遭到雷擊，樹心油脂被焚燬。雖然後來樹頂曾經生出嫩枝，卻在不久後即告枯萎，被林業專家宣布復育無望。在雷擊後，玉山國家公園管理處在神木殘軀上種植紅檜幼苗，以保持其綠意盎然的樣子。
1997年7月1日，神木本身因連日大雨，根部腐朽嚴重，一半的樹身迸裂傾倒在森林鐵路上，壓壞了鐵軌。在經過專家評估後，認為有安全之虞。1998年6月29日，林務局正式放倒神木，阿里山神木也因此走入歷史[2]，傾倒的樹身就此橫置於原地，成為遺蹟，供人瞻仰。
The Alishan National Scenic Area (traditional Chinese: 阿里山國家風景區; simplified Chinese: 阿里山国家风景区; pinyin: Ālǐshān guójiā fēngjǐng qū) is a mountain resort and natural preserve located in the mountains of Chiayi County in Taiwan. It is 415 km² in area. It includes, among other things, mountain wilderness, four villages, waterfalls, high altitude tea plantations, the Alishan Forest Railway and several hiking trails. The area is popular among tourists and mountain climbers, and Alishan or Mount Ali (Chinese: 阿里山; pinyin: Ālǐshān) itself has become one of the major landmarks associated with Taiwan. The area is also famous for its production of high mountain tea and wasabi.
阿里山（ありさん）とは、台湾嘉義県にある15の山々の総称である。 最高峰は大塔山の2663m。面積は約32700ヘクタールで、そのすべてが国家風景区（国定公園）に指定されている。その内1400ヘクタールが「阿里山国家森林遊楽区」に指定されており、日の出・夕霞・雲海・鉄道・神木の「五大奇観」が有名である。
戦前の日本統治下、1934年に隣接する玉山とともに、新高阿里山国立公園として日本の国立公園に指定されていた。
阿里山の森林が初めて日本人に発見されたのは1900年のことで、1904年から林学博士である琴山河合により調査が始められた。
植物は、熱帯・暖帯・温帯の植物が見られる。1800m以上になると樹齢1000年を超えるタイワンヒノキ（中国語 紅檜）が多く自生しており、靖国神社の神門や橿原神宮の神門と外拝殿、東大寺大仏殿の垂木など、日本の多くの神社仏閣に阿里山のタイワンヒノキが使われている。さらに明治神宮の一代目大鳥居にも使われていたが、1966年7月22日の落雷で破損し、現在大宮氷川神社の鳥居として第二のお役に立っている。 また、3・4月には桜が満開となり「桜の名所」としても名高い。

Bicara soal trip ke Alishan, aku dan 3 temen sekampus aku yang mengikuti program student exchange ke Taiwan meluangkan waktu 2 hari untuk menjelajah kota Alishan ini.
Sebagai pendatang tentunya kita perlu banyak persiapan dikarenakan kita ngga terlalu lancar berbahasa mandarin dan uang kita pas-pas an XD jadi perlu banget untuk persiapan.

The Memory of Alishan
The forests of Alishan had been developed as early as Dutchmen Rule and Qing Dynasty, but the development scale wasn't significant until Japanese Rule. At that time, the Alishan Forest Railway was established for the purpose of developing forestry and has existed for a century by now. Because a large number of manpowers, materials and financial resources were used for the construction; plus the technical difficulties, the project of Alishan Forest Railway was once considered as a crazy thing by some experts. Today, Alishan Forest Railway is one of the famous mountain railways in the world. Although its total length is only 71.4 km; it climbs up to altitude 2274 m from the level ground, passing by tropical, subtropical and temperate forest successively, letting you appreciate beautiful sceneries along the way.

Hi guys, kembali lagi bersama gw, abraham.. Di video ini gw dan istri gw sudah 2 hari di taiwan. Dan hari ke 2 kita menghabiskan waktu ke gunung alishan dan makan-makan di ruifeng night market dikota kaohsiung..
Secara singkat, gunung alishan adalah gunung bekas pertambangan pada tahun 1900an awal.. Disana masih tersimpan kereta uap untuk membawa bahan tambang. Disana kita juga melihat pepohonan yang usianya sudah ratusan tahun. Dan disana ternyata dingin dengan suhu 11 derajat celcius..
