Living in Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen has long been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico. These days, it's also a major digital nomad hub. We spent six weeks living in Playa del Carmen and sat down to discuss our time there. From coworking at Selina, to taking day trips to Mayan ruins, to experiencing the culinary and nightlife scenes, it was a fun and productive month and a half.

Live Aqua Boutique Resort Playa del Carmen 2019
We spent a week at the Live Aqua Boutique Resort in Playa del Carmen. This all inclusive adult only hotel was very swanky. It might be the best hotel in Playa Del Carmen. It is walking distance to El Fogon, Mega, and Walmart. The Italian restaurant Cenacolo is right next door!
Is Playa del Carmen is the best place to live in Mexico?
As a foreigner considering moving to Mexico, there are a lot of choices available to you... Mexico is a huge country and there are many popular places for expats to set up shop and live their new life abroad.
Your choice should be based on what is important to you and there are many factors that only you can know that ill help you make your decision. It certainly doesn't hurt to travel to prospective locations and check things out to get a feel for the area in which you might be living.

Got a new place in Playa del Carmen.. Living the good life in Mexico

Hey everybody! Just checking in to give you a peek at my new condo here in Playa del Carmen. Living in Playa is exactly what I needed... It's been a little over two years since I left Las Vegas and and my crap nightclub job and moved to Playa del Carmen.
So... the new place is pretty damn awesome. I love being able to walk to the beach in about 5 min and and right in the center of downtown keeps things interesting. The new pad even has a full separate room that we are making into an internet marketing boiler room. Couldn't be happier with the situation.. it even has a park within easy walking distance so I can take Winston for a nice stroll every morning.
Playa del Carmen is very cool little beach town about an hour south of Cancun, directly in the middle of the famous Riviera Maya. White sandy beaches, turquoise blue water and a laid back vibe that is the exact opposite of Las Vegas. Well, almost the exact opposite. Lots of tourists but it's a much different feel and very international...

Known for its gorgeous beaches, Playa del Carmen, Mexico on the Riviera Maya boasts some cool buildings and hotels, topped with rooftop bars. Almost each rooftop bar will have a terrific pool and usually a swim up bar. These are my Top 3 Rooftop bar selections for a terrific place to soak in the sun, soak in the water, and meet cool people.

In Playa del Carmen, you can only build buildings to a certain height, and with the gorgeous weather, a lot of the tops of the hotels in the area have a rooftop pool. Why not add a bar?! Mexico is a popular vacation spot, but beyond that it's also known as a great spot for digital nomads, expats, freelancers and remote workers. But is Mexico cheap? Is Playa Del Carmen as expensive in comparison? That's why we make these cost of living videos, to share our honest experience.
We've spent a month in Playa Del Carmen and we absolutely loved it. While it's true that Mexico is full of value, or cheap if you prefer that term, most of the tourist spots like Playa Del Carmen are most definitely not... at least in comparison. This monthly cost of living was the highest we've had anywhere in the world.
If you're a digital nomad, freelancer or remote worker we still highly recommend it. Don't be put off by our costs because we didn't skimp at all, we paid for expensive accom with security guards and rooftop swimming pools, we wanted the luxuries of a traveler with the access of a local and thats what we got. In that sense Mexico is about as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it, the contrast is there for you to scale it to your own needs.
