Aliyar Dam is located in Aliyar Village near Pollachi town in Coimbatore. It is located in the foothills of Valparai, in the Anaimalai Hills of the Western Ghats. It is about 65 kilometres from Coimbatore. The dam offers some ideal getaways including a park, garden, play area. The scenery is beautiful, with mountains surrounding three quarters of the reservoir. Boating is also available.
Park is not well maintained compared to previous years. But worth spending 2-3 hours for scenic beauty.

We randomly bumped into Aliyar dam, drove the SUV on the path above the dam only to be later shooed away politely by the guard there.
Zero tourists in such places, untouched and non-commercialised. Life is good!

To catch Aliyar Dam boating, you will have to walk more than 75 steps upwards. However, if you are VIP you may may have chance to get there through your vehicle.
You won't get boating during rainy season but that is the best time to visit Pollachi. Probably, you should visit this place immediately once the rainy season stops. You'll be missing the breezing climate of Pollachi if you go during summer season. You have to pay the boating fee which would be less than Rs. 100 per person.
