View of two mountain range named 'Nar' and 'Narayan' and the town of Badrinath.
Badrinath(3,415 metres) is located in the Garhwal hills, on the banks of Alaknanda River. It is a holy town for Hindus in chamoli district of Uttarakhand. It is the most important religious sites among the Chardham. Dwarka, Jagannath Puri, and Rameshwaram are the other three religious sites among the Chardham. The town got its name from the holy temple of Badrinath. Badrinath is situated 301km north of Rishikesh. It is situated in the background of Nilkantha Peak (6560 metres) and between the Nar and Narayana mountain range.
According to a legend, Adi Shankara found a image of Lord Badrinarayan made of black stone (Saligram) in Alaknanda river. He initially kept it in a cave near Tapt kund or hot spring which was later shifted by king of Garhwal to the present temple in 16th century. The hot spring still exists near this temple and taking bath in it keeps a very important religious significance. It is a place sacred to Vishnu, particularly in Vishnu's dual form of Nara-Narayana. Its reference is also given in Hindu Scriptures. This place is full of Bael fruit i.e, Badri or 'Ber' in hindi. According to a another legend Vishnu meditated here for couple of hundered years. Godess Lakshmi gave shelter to him for all those years while he was doing meditation. She later turned into a Badri herself and her Lord was thus known as Badrinath. Another legend is when Godess Ganga was about to descend on earth for the welfare of humanity, it was split into two parts, with Alaknanda one of them so that the mother earth could withstand her force.

Alaknanda River in Badrinath

The Alaknanda is considered to rise at the confluence and foot of the Satopanth and Bhagirath Kharak glaciers in Uttarakhand, though the Saraswati River tributary flowing from Mana Pass is longer; the two meet at Mana, India, 21 km from Tibet. Three km below Mana the Alaknanda flows past the Hindu pilgrimage centre of Badrinath. It meets the Bhagirathi River at Devprayag after flowing for approximately 190 km (118.1 mi) through the Alaknanda valley. Its main tributaries are the Mandakini, Nandakini, and Pindar rivers. The Alaknanda system drains parts of Chamoli, Tehri, and Pauri districts.
Following the merging at Devprayag, the river is known as the Ganges. The Alaknanda contributes a significantly larger portion to the flow of the Ganges than the Bhagirathi. The Alaknanda is also known for adventure sports such as rafting.
According to Scriptures, the Goddess Ganga descended to earth at Gangotri, the original source of the Bhagirathi before the Gangotri Glacier receded to its current location at Gomukh. The Alaknanda is believed to have split off from the celestial Ganges when it descended from heaven.
The origin of Alaknanda River is of special interest to the tourists who visit the important pilgrimages in Uttarakhand. The Ganges rises in the southern Himalayas on the Indian side of the Tibet border. The five headstreams of the Ganges including the Bhagirathi, Mandakini, Alaknanda, Dhauliganga and Pindar, all rising in the northern mountainous regions of Uttarakhand.
On the Satopanth Glacier six km up from Alaknanda's origin at its snout, the triangular Lake Satopanth is found at a height of 4350 m. It and the glacier are named after the Hindu trinity Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva.
Nanda Devi is the highest point in the Alaknanda basin.

Lyrics:
In vaadiyon mein
Takra chuke hain
Humse musafir
Yun toh kayi
Dil na lagaya
Humne kisi se
Qisse sune hain
Yun toh kayi
Aise tum mile ho
Aise tum mile ho
Jaise mil rahi ho
Itr se havaa.. ..
Qaafirana sa hai
Ishq hai ya kya hai
Aise tum mile ho
Aise tum mile ho
Jaise mil rahi ho
Itr se havaa.. ..
Qaafirana sa hai
Ishq hai ya kya hai
Godi mein pahadiyon ki
Ujli dopheri guzaarna
Tere saath mein..
Accha lage..
Dhalti huyi sham ne
Bataya hai ke door manzil pe
Raat Hai..
Mujhko tasalli hai yeh
Ke hone talak raat
Hum dono saath hai ..
Sang chal rahe hai
Sang chal rahe hai
Dhoop ke kinare
Chaaon ki tarah
Qaafirana sa hai
Ishq hai ya kya hai
Aise tum mile ho
Aise tum mile ho
Jaise mil rahi ho
Itr se havaa.. ..
Qaafirana sa hai
Ishq hai ya kya hai

It is in the Garhwal hills, on the banks of the Alaknanda River. The town lies between the Nar and Narayana mountain ranges and in the shadow of Nilkantha peak,The Badrinath temple is the main attraction in the town. According to legend Shankara discovered a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone in the Alaknanda River. The Badrinath area is referred to as Badari or Badarikaashram (बदरिकाश्रम) in Hindu scriptures. It is a place sacred to Vishnu, particularly in Vishnu's dual form of Nara-Narayana. Thus, in the Mahabharata, Krishna, addressing Arjuna, says, Thou wast Nara in a former body, and, with Narayana for thy companion, didst perform dreadful austerity at Badari for many myriads of yearsLocated only a few kilometers from the Indo-China (Tibet) border
