Our favorite meal in Glasgow, Scotland at the Crafty Pig restaurant and pub

While visiting Glasgow, Scotland for a few days we ended up finding a cool restaurant called the Crafty Pig just a stone throw away from where we were staying. From Monday to Friday they have these amazing lunch specials where you can main, side and a drink for only £4.95. Some of the options for the mains included pulled pork sandwiches, burgers, brisket and chicken wings with sides featuring soups, salads or fries with drink options including a soft drink, tea and/or coffee. I ended up going with the Porky Pig Bun (pulled pork sandwich with barbecue sauce) and Audrey got the Open Brisket sandwich. We each got fries and we upgraded to milkshakes. The behemoth shakes came in the stainless steel milkshake cups used to blend them and probably had a day's worth of calories in each jar. We ended up leaving the place feeling very satisfied. In terms of the atmosphere it definitely has a hipster vibe and looks like a great place to socialize with friends and shoot some pool. Here is the address below:

So Glasgow is a city for foodies. There is so much great food and today we're bringing you to one of our favorite restaurants The Crafty Pig. Basically everything on the menu is amazing and we've only been here a few days but we just keep coming back.

So it is time for a bit of a confession. There are times when we travel when we find a place that we really like and we just keep coming back.

So they have incredible lunch specials. Yeah, for four pounds 95 you get a feast. It is a feast of a meal. So you basically get your main, you get your choice of sides. We chose fries. They didn't have soup available today but you can also get a soup or a salad and then you get a drink so we both went with tea. And we already showed you that already so let's take a look at this main. Dudes, this is the pulled pork sandwich bun. Oh my gosh. This is amazing. Like take a look at that. Can you see that pulled pork. Yes, I've tried it before and it is mouth watering. You know what just so I can show you guys what the pulled pork looks like.

That is magic in the mouth. What really makes this delicious as well obviously it is tender but then you have this kind of amazing tangy yet sweet sauce that I believe is homemade.

So for mine I went with the brisket open sandwich. Check this out. I'm not even going to try using my hands because it is just going to be so messy. Gosh that looks so good. Look at that beef with a nice glaze.

Barbecue sauce. This is so good. But you've got barbecue sauce on your face. All over my face I bet I do. The meat is like smothered in barbecue sauce it is so good.

Alright, so we got a little greedy and ordered milkshakes, so tell me which one are you having?

These are behemoths. So I'm getting the peanut butter one and before we go on I've just got to tell you what is in this. Like this is amazing stuff. Okay, chocolate and salted caramel ice cream, peanut butter cup pieces, so that is like the Reese's peanut butter cups, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, peanut butter M and M's and whipped cream.

I went for cookies and cream. And if you take a look here I've got a chocolate Oreo and a chocolate chip cookie. Yeah, and that has also been blended into the milkshake. Oh, man. Lots of whipped cream and chocolate sauce all over. That looks divine.

I don't think I'm going to be able to help you out much with that. We definitely could have shared we just got really greedy. Yeah, we're being pigs at a piggy restaurant basically.

And now it is time for price point. So for the set meal part that we had that was four ninety five and that was the tea, that was our basically our sandwich and our fries. Yep. And then the upgraded to the shake and that cost what I think three seventy five each. So, yeah, overall a really satisfying meal and not too expensive. If you had just come for lunch then it would be quite cheap I think.

this was our first visit to Benihana Glasgow. The restaurant is located on West Nile street. Inside they had amazing wall decor of Glasgow. All the walls in the restaurant told the story of Benihaha's and how it came to be.

We had some amazing starters, Edamame chilli,Chicken Gyoza, Spring rolls & Benihana onion soup (with mushrooms).

we opted for the A La Carte menu. We got a voucher from 'Itison'. We had the hibachi Steak 7 chicken combo. This came with a side salad, hibachi rice and vegetables.

It was pretty amazing. We have been to other similar places in the USA but this is the first time we have went to one in the UK and it was really good. The service was really good. They made sure we got everything we needed. They took the time to explain the history of Benihana and what their future plans where in the UK.

Our recommendation is go try it, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Glasgow food scene is quite vibrant. From classic Scottish cuisine to international flavours, you can easily find food that suits your taste buds. In this video, I explore Glasgow food and show you some Glasgow special dishes that you should try when you visit the city.

Must Eat in Glasgow

1. Full Scottish Breakfast - Like every breakfast, Scottish breakfast comes with baked beans, eggs and toasts. But, what makes it different as Scottish specialities like black pudding and tattie scone. You can easily find Scottish breakfast all day in most cafes across Glasgow.

2. Deep Fried Haggis - Haggis is the national dish of Scotland and is usually served as a savoury pudding. But in Glasgow, you can easily find a deep fried Haggis that makes this meaty dish tastier. While it might lack in appearance, but it makes up for it in taste. It is easy to find deep fried Haggis in any chip shop in Glasgow.

3. Chicken cooked in Buckfast Sauce - Buckfast is a popular tonic wine in Glasgow. When in the city, you must try a dish that is cooked using this wine. There are only a few places where you can find Buckfast sauce based dishes. My favourite is AGA Mezze Palace on Dundas St. The chef is very sweet and can prepare any dish using Buckfast sauce. In fact, you can also try Grouse sauce and Tennants Sauce.

4. Macaroni Pie - The thought of pasta in pastry is odd, but if you are in Scotland then even that combination can be yummy. In Glasgow, you must try a cheesy Macaroni Pie. You can easily find a Macaroni Pie at any chip shop or cafe in Glasgow.

Our tour starts at the Riverside Museum-a finest example of the 21-century architecture designed by the Dame Zaha Hadid- the most influential female architect of our time.

Then we continue to walk towards the University of Glasgow which is 600 years old, one of the oldest Universities in the county and also believed to inspire the creation of ’Hogwarts’ in Harry Potter.

The plant collections are dispersed across the 19.4-hectare site which includes two glasshouse complexes- Kibble Palace and the Main Range. The Tearooms can be found in the former Curator’s house near to the Kibble Palace.

Continue the journey along the Great Western Road, where you can get a great coffee roaster, bakery and an ice cream shop for a hot sunny day (yes, that occasionally happens in Glasgow!)

1:04 Kelvinbridge
Now you've approached the Kelvin- bridge also called Great Western Bridge as it carries Great Western Road across the River Kelvin. It is a classic Victorian cast-iron arch structure 18.3m wide, with two main spans over the Kelvin and a smaller span on each side for a pedestrian footpath. The bridge connects the neighbouring town Hillhead, which was incorporated into the city in the 19th century. Follow the steps down to the River Kelvin.

Inn Deep is a bar directly under the Kelvinbridge that serves craft beers and offers great seating outside next to the River Kelvin on a sunny day a perfect spot for a pint of craft beer!

Kelvingrove park is a classic example of the Victorian park. Today the park has many facilities to offer, such as children playgrounds, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the event space, cafes, tennis courts and skateboard park, riverside walks.

The Willow Tea Rooms are the Glasgow’s unique gem. Designed by the world-renowned Charles Mackintosh- a Glaswegian architect that invented modernism in the 20th century. The interiors and the furniture is a piece of art you will never find anywhere else in the world!

The Lighthouse is Scotland’s Centre for Design & Architecture. It has two viewing platforms at the top of the building, however, one is hidden. Get to the 3rd level and then take steps on the spiral staircase to the very top for the most outstanding views over the Glasgow!

City Snapshot: Glasgow in Summer

A true culture capital, city breaks in Glasgow are always glorious; but summertime is an especially sublime time to visit.

Glasgow attractions are second to none, with spellbinding architecture and history around every corner. Learn about the Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and admire his designs on a Glasgow School of Art walking tour, or take in the panoramic views of the city at the Lighthouse, one of his most famous works.
