Learning to ring the bells, checking out the clock, the belfry, and getting a private tour up to the top exterior of this bell tower. Who Hoo...this isn’t on my Life List, what an honor. Facing fears of heights...feeling so blessed to do this!

Evesham Part 1 .mov
The historic town of Evesham, on the banks of Shakespeare's River Avon, is the capital of the Vale of Evesham, lying between the Malverns and Bredon Hill on one side and the Cotswolds on the other, in the Heart of England.
The Vale is roughly contiguous with the estates surrounding Evesham's medieval abbey, founded in AD 701 by the future Saint Ecgwin. The Vale has a long and full - at times almost hectic - history ranging from Neolithic farming, through settlement by the Celts, Romans and english, remodelling by the Normans, a stormy and turbulent middle ages with battle and massacre, and the ebb and flow of trade, as the town and its surrounding communities grew and matured in their fertile Vale. The dissolution of its monastery seemed likely to ruin the town but it grew more, took over its own government and went on growing those crops and orchard fruits that it became famous for.
Civil war wracked the Vale, technical development and new farming methods changed its face again and the Vale matured further. The coming of the railway, the arrival and departure of the French Royal Family (succeeded at their country house by the British Broadcasting Corporation), World War and the changing face of the Vale since that war, all add to the fascinating story of Evesham and the Golden Vale.

Chagford church bells
Filmed by one of our youngest ringers... First rise on the bells of St Michael the Archangel, Chagford (Tenor 18-0-22 in E), following full refurbishment and rehanging in new cast iron & steel frame, with cast iron headstocks, by John Taylor & Co. of Loughborough. Recast by Taylor's in 1914 when WW1 broke out, they were initially hung by local bell hangers, William Aggett & Sons, in a new (mostly) oak frame on elm headstocks. Ringers: Treble, Nicola Bennie; 2 Julia Endacott (Tower Captain); 3 Karen Squire; 4 Mervin Langdon; 5 Mike Webber; 6 Ben Squire; 7 Jon Bint; Tenor, Stuart Bennie.
Evesham Belltower
This is some Plain Hunt on the back ten at Evesham Belltower, which is part of the old Abbey here in Evesham. These bells were all cast in 1951. The person in charge of recasting the old bells was determined to get a quality job, so he dictated to Taylors that they should base the scale of these bells on the 11th at Worcester Cathedral... and what a fine job they did! The tenor weighs 35-2-20 and is in C#
I had to buy a new camera and unfortunately it does not pick up the bass well at all. To enjoy this video fully you may need to turn up your bass speaker a bit.

A new campaign's been launched after figures reveal, around four churches are targeted by lead thieves every month in Norfolk. St Remigius Church in Hethersett is one of them, after it was raided two years ago.
