Walking around Osaka - Japan
Kushikatsu & the JUICIEST Chicken in Osaka?!!
► Check out my Osaka Food Guide for details on restaurants in these videos:
On Day 11, we were back in Osaka after a quick trip to Kyoto, and we woke up to do some sightseeing, and to eat some more delicious Japanese food in Osaka.
00:23 Shitennoji Temple - To start our day in Osaka, we first headed over to the Shitennoji Temple, one of the oldest and most well known temples in Osaka. We walked around for a few minutes, but unfortunately the lookout point that I wanted to see was under construction, so couldn’t go inside, but it was still nice to visit.
2:19 Kushikatsu Daruma (串カツだるま) - The area of Shinsekai in Osaka is known throughout the city for a Japanese food called kushikatsu, a homegrown Osaka creation. One of the most famous restaurants is Kushikatsu Daruma (串カツだるま), and since there was no line, we decided to give it a try. I didn’t think I was going to like kushikatsu all that much, but I have to admit that it was pretty good - all sorts of deep fried items on stick, with a delicious dipping sauce.
7:08 Sumiyoshi Taisha (住吉大社) - After kushikatsu and walking around the Shinsekai area for a while, we caught the tram to Sumiyoshi Taisha (住吉大社) temple. One of the most famous things there is the bridge, which was beautiful. I would highly recommend visiting Sumiyoshi Taisha (住吉大社) when you visit Osaka, Japan.
9:32 Conveyor belt sushi - For lunch we headed back to Osaka and to Namba Station, and we had a quick meal at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Plates were 129 JPY, and overall it was good. I think most people go for the quick sushi, and it’s pretty fun.
12:18 Dotonbori (道頓堀) - After doing some work back at our apartment for a few hours, we headed back out into Osaka, and did some walking around and sightseeing at Dotonbori (道頓堀), one of the most famous area of Osaka.
12:56 Osaka Ohsho - King of Gyoza - Before having dinner, we had a plate of gyoza at Osaka Ohsho - King of Gyoza, right in Dotonbori, which was pretty good.
14:05 Ikkaku (一鶴 心斎橋店) - For dinner we headed to a restaurant called Ikkaku (一鶴 心斎橋店), right in the Shinsaibashi area. They specialize in chicken, and they have both old and young chicken which you can choose from. We got both types of chicken, and I think the young chicken might have been the juiciest chicken in Osaka. It was amazing, a bit salty, but incredibly flavorful.

Visit Modern and Lively Osaka, Japan
I had a difficult time deciding whether or not to tack on extra days in Osaka. From everything I read, it was just another big city and yes it was. However, Osaka had street after street with covered pedestrian malls just made for pleasure.
After extensive cultural touring, how nice to end somewhere with nothing to do but walk streets and along the river filled with activity. Leave time for Osaka.
JAPAN VLOG | Osaka Pt. 1 (Nara, Isuien Gardens, Osaka Aquarium)
Brought to you by my trusty IPhone 8+ & shitty filming ability; I hope you can enjoy this video at least a bit. I edited this video in an app called Splice and the music is also from the app.

Please feel free to leave comments with feed back. I’m new to editing and vloging; naturally I have plenty of room for improvement and would be grateful for any and all pointers.
Here is some info about the trip:
We flew out of Cairns Australia. It’s a direct flight which only takes about 7Hrs. We flew with Jet Star and got ourselves an awesome deal which I purchased in February of 2019.
The weather was great in October - Mid November. Most of the days were between 18-23 degrees; cooling down to 6-10 degrees at night. We found ourselves wearing long pants and light sweaters or shirts for most of the trip. Only throwing a jacket on for evenings. It was really starting to come into Autumn as we were leaving. If you’re planning to be in the Kanto/Chobu/Kansai regions (and you’re hoping to see the orange leaves) then I’d suggest going more early November into late December. Mind you it becomes quite a bit colder towards the end of the year.
Our first Airbnb was located in Nipponbashi (Osaka) and was amazing! The location was super good. There is an exit at the start of the street which makes getting to and from super easy. Numba Station is also a 7-10 minute walk away which was handy coming in from the airport. Dotonbori, Osaka’s Electric district, Shopping streets and museums are all within walking distance or short train rides away. There are multiple convince stores between the train exit and the apartment area; and we always felt safe while staying here.
Our first few days were spent enjoying the Japan atmosphere and figuring out the rail system (which is super easy btw.) Much of this video is spent in Nara. We visited Isuien Gardens; located between Nara Park and Tōdai-ji (temple with the giant Buddha statue.) Nara was one of my favourite locations and a place I am looking forward to visiting again. If you have the opportunity to spent multiple days there then I’d highly recommend it.
If one day is all you can fit in then its not to worry. You can get many of the main attractions done easily as they’re all within walking distance of each other. On this trip we started our day early and began at Nara Park where you can feed the deer. Thereafter we took about a ten minute walk to Isuien Garden were we spent about 30-40 minutes walking around the garden. There is a tea house and a museum so if you wish to enjoy those aspects as well, you’d want to spent maybe an hour/an hour and a half here. The museum houses traditional Japanese Ceramics, old scriptures and some of the first Japanese Dictionaries as well as paintings and such.
You can walk another 10 minutes to Tōdai-ji temple which houses the 15 metre high Buddha statue. The temple itself was the highlight for me as it is so grand. A fact I found out afterwards is that it’s actually about 30% smaller than the original building, which is mind boggling considering how big it currently is.
After visiting the temple we had a late lunch and did some shopping near the station. There is plenty more to see and do in Nara. In this video we visit Korea Town, though I didn’t take many videos while we were there. Osaka has the largest Korea Town in Japan. From where we were located it was about 30 minutes by train and was a 15 minute walk from the closest stop (since we had to catch a bus to get closer and we didn’t want to.) The selection of Korean food is really amazing and is sort of all there is. Other than mountains of K-pop merch. It’s still worth visiting if you’re into Korean Culture. If you’re planning to visit I would definitely make a day out of it, since it’s a trip to get there and there is lots to see in the area other than just the main strip.
The rest of the footage is all from the Aquarium (Kaiyukan) and these sorts of things usually give me mixed feelings, as with zoos. But the Osaka Aquarium seriously is something else. While the Whale sharks might be a bit sad, the rest of the marine life had ample space, incredible replications and looked healthy/well sized. The experience is one I’d recommend to anyone. It’s something you won’t be able to see easily, as it’s one of the worlds largest aquariums and in my opinion nicest.
That’s it for my first vlog. I’ll see you in the next one! I can’t believe you read all of that lmao

Osaka, Japan Travel | Dotonbori + Universal Studios (Osaka)
We venture to Osaka, Japan and discovered its hidden gem - Dotonbori. Turns out - it's a bit different to the fast pace nature of Tokyo. Travelling to Dotonbori offers very suburban, homely vibes coupled with a city appeal - the balance is perfect and the food is amazing. Dotonbori at night is truly special experience as the city comes alive with its big digital displays and an endless array of food. Should you travel to Dotonbori? YES - we would definitely recommend travels to Dotonbori.
Universal Studios in Osaka is also a must visit - the rides were eventful. Long queues will be there for most of the attractions, we suggest grabbing an express pass if you are planning to visit Universal Studios!

Sushi, Pizza, and Sukiyaki. Eating all day in Osaka Station [Vlog 27]
Started the day with Japanese yogurt. The liquid drink and the more solid form. Both are excellent, but if I had a choice of one, it would be the liquid form as it is smoother and more tart.
Walked from Intercontinental Osaka through Grand Front Osaka and directly to Osaka Station
Sushi lunch, but it was mediocre as the cuts were not so fresh. And then the prices were high considering the poor quality.
Immediately followed by pizza at my favorite Echi Ponte Vecchio - my go-to place for pizza in Osaka located on the restaurant floor of Lucua department store in Osaka Station. Lunch comes as a set with a salad, pizza or pasta, and espresso with a truffle.
Walking around Daimaru’s food hall in the basement floors (B1 and B2). Admiring the seasonal and high-priced fruits
Watching takoyaki being made in Daimaru, also at the Osaka Station
Kansai-style sukiyaki at Moritaya back at Lucua. Kansai style caramelizes the meat with less sauce for an intense flavor. Followed by a most amazing muskmelon. Always the best dinner of the trip. 7,300 yen per person for the top cut of beef.
Walking through Osaka Station and stopping to enjoy the nightlife with live music and sakura trees

Pluses:
Good location, only three minute walk from metro. Luxurious hotel. Comfortable rooms with beautiful view on Osaka castle.
Excellent staff, highly qualified and they will go out of their way to help with anything you need. All staff speak English which made everything even easier.
Views from the south facing rooms are quite impressive.
Osaka Castle is right next door, as is the Osaka-jo Hall if you are attending any concerts etc.
Osaka Loop line access is just across the road (either Kyobashi or Osakajo-koen stations) - this makes for easy access to the Kansai International Airport (just on 1 hour via the loop line and a swap to the rapid service at Tennoji station).
Absolutely loved this hotel, the staff and location, would thoroughly recommend.
Minuses:
Bathroom is small in comparison with rest of room and could do for an update. Amenities/extras are expensive: 30 euro's for the fitness/pool, 40 euro's for breakfast.
Lack of complimentary tea and coffee. There were no snacks available in such a high end hotel.

Walking from Osaka to Fukushima Sta. - Highway piercing through the building (高速道路が貫通するビル) [4K] POV
About TKP Gate Tower Building -
In 1983, redevelopment of the area was approved, but building permits were refused because the highway was already being planned. The property rights' holders refused to give up, and negotiated with the Hanshin Expressway corporation for approximately five years to reach the current solution.[1][4]
Although normally highway corporations purchase the land they build a highway on or over, it is not guaranteed to succeed and therefore issues like this can arise.

We visited the beautiful Osaka Castle & grounds, then we went for a wonder around the shops & finished at the Pokemon Center. We've been in Japan for just over a week now & feel like we are starting to settle in! We also realise that our vlogging skills are pretty bad, but i'm sure we'll get more comfortable the more we film!
