Allaire State Park NJ
One weekend I decided to take a stroll with my camera through the village, at Allaire State Park.
Allaire Village is a living history museum located within New Jersey's Allaire State Park in Wall Township, New Jersey. The village was originally established as a bog iron furnace known as the Howell Works, which the company's owner, philanthropist James P. Allaire, endeavoured to turn into a self-contained community. Allaire Village and its existing buildings are now operated by a non-profit organization - Allaire Village, Inc. The buildings which remain today include a general store, blacksmith shop, carpenters shop, managers house, foremans house and a church. One of the workers' row house buildings is now the Visitor Center and Museum. Historic interpreters work using period tools and equipment in the blacksmith, tinsmith, and carpentry shops, while the old bakery sells cookies, and general store serves as a museum store. The church building is frequently used for weddings.
The Pine Creek Railroad is adjacent to the village. It was established in 1953, and is an example of rail travel at the height of the steam era in the United States. The live-steam and diesel, narrow-gauge trains are operated by the NJ Museum of Transportation.

Some of our shots from Allaire Village, a 19th century iron making town. This was not one of our investigations, just a day trip, although several areas are reputed to be haunted!

Allaire State Park, NJ
Allaire State Park is a park located in Howell and in Wall Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States, near the borough of Farmingdale, operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry and is part of the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route. The park is known for its restored 19th century ironworks, Allaire Village, on the park premises. It is named after James P. Allaire, founder of the Howell Works at the same site.[2] The park also hosts the Pine Creek Railroad, a tourist railroad.
The park, which is located in the coastal plain geographic region of New Jersey, is an example of podzolic soils. These soils are high in iron particle content and are fairly acidic.
Picnic facilities including charcoal grills, tables, playgrounds and sanitary facilities are available within the developed area of the park. The Manasquan River flows eastward through the park, seasonal canoe rentals are offered offsite by private vendors. The Manasquan River is classified as fresh water within the park and requires a fishing license. The park charges an entrance fee on weekends in the summer.

All trail classifications and distances are made by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, which oversees the State Parks. Note: Bicycles are not permitted on trails within the developed part of the park. Allaire's mountain biking trails may be accessed by riding the Edgar Felix Bikeway to Hospital road on the eastern edge of the park.

New Jersey closes all State Parks & Forests! Stoops to new low!
The one place worse than New York. New Jersey! And to think I was considering moving there. Never. A budget impasse between Governor Christie and Assembly Speaker Prieto has meant a NJ Government shutdown. While essential services (such as NJ Transit) are not affected, all state parks, forests, and beaches are closed. And New Jersey is going the extra mile to keep people out, having Park Police guarding entrances to keep people out and issuing tickets to anyone caught inside a park. But that doesn't stop Christie who is enjoying himself at Island Beach State Park! Corzine, Christie, and probably Murphy, NJ sure knows how to pick 'em! Honestly Christie belongs in JAIL for this & other stuff (like Bridgegate). He's done even more bad things than Cuomo. Not even our Governor would be so foolish to shut down State Parks on this holiday weekend! Maine had a similar impasse but their parks remain open. Christie is a Big Baby and Prieto is no better! Anyway their loss it our gain, many are choosing to head to Long Island instead of the Jersey Shore.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
