Places to see in ( Erfurt - Germany ) Allerheiligenkirche
The All Saints Church is a small Roman Catholic church from the 12./14. Century. The gothic hall church stands at the fork of the Allerheiligen and Marktstraße in the center of Erfurt . It has an irregular floor plan and the highest with 53 meters steeple of the Erfurt old town . Since 2007 she is the first Roman Catholic church in Central Germany to have a columbarium .
In 1117 the Church of All Saints was founded by the presbyter Erkenbert and the archiepiscopal Vitztum Adalbert as an Augustinian choir monastery with monastery and hospital . In 1125, the archbishop of Mainz , Adalbert I. von Saarbrücken, first confirmed the foundation in writing by means of a deed . In the same year probably the church was inaugurated. In 1222, a fire raged in the old town, the church and the monastery fell largely victim. The associated hospital was mentioned for the last time in 1234 and probably soon after relocated to the governing church or canceled. The place of the hospital later became theHouse of Castel Sant'Angelo , which became the property of university professors from the 15th century. The church building, which was destroyed during the fire, probably had only one nave in a rectangular shape and one south-facing west tower.
During the reconstruction of the Church of All Saints in gothic style, which lasted until the 14th century , the layout of the street was adapted. Thus, the walls of the nave do not run parallel until today, but start narrow at the west tower and widen to the east. In addition, the nave was divided into two parts and received a roof structure with two wooden Spitztonnen. This construction is preserved to this day, but is hidden by a flat ceiling retracted in the 19th century . The square west tower with its pointed helmet was often damaged by lightning strikes. So the tower had to be renewed with its tip 1487, 1628 and 1870. During the Reformationone set the church service in 1525, but led him again a year later in 1526. In 1724 Johann Georg Schröter built the first organ in the church , which was later replaced by a model made in 1806.
Between 1896 and 1898 extensive reconstruction work was carried out on the Church of All Saints, building a polygonal choir with a sacristy to the east of the north nave and removing a sacristy installation in the south nave. Furthermore, the western gallery was renewed with the organ and the former three-part baroque altar was moved to the east wall of the south nave. Lastly, they fortified the north portal and opened the south portal. In 1915 and 1919, the interior of the church was redone under the direction of Prof. Hanftmann.
The All Saints Church is a small Roman Catholic hall church in the Gothic style . It has a total of three arched gantries, but of which the north portal was walled up at the end of the 19th century. The south portal has in the area of the tympanum a sandstone relief from 1370/80, which represents the crucifixion group . The crossbeams of the cross resemble bent branches bearing rich fruit and are believed to symbolize the tree of life . In a ground-level niche on the south side of the tower is a stone Vesper picture (Piéta) from 1380/90 and shows Mary with the childishly small formed corpse of Christ.

Places to see in ( Erfurt - Germany ) Evangelisches Augustinerkloster
Places to see in ( Erfurt - Germany ) Evangelisches Augustinerkloster
The Augustinerkloster in Erfurt is a built from 1277, former monastery of the Augustinian Hermits , in which Martin Luther lived between 1505 and 1511 as a monk. In the lion and parrot window of the choir window of the Augustinian church of the monastery is the model of the Lutherrose . After the Reformation in 1525, the monastery became the property of the Evangelical Church ; In 1559 it was secularized by the city of Erfurt, In 1945, parts of the monastery were destroyed in an air raid. Since 1994 the Augustinerkloster is the official residence of the provost Erfurt-Nordhausen. The building is used primarily as a meeting and meeting center. The monastery is a recognized cultural monument according to the Thuringian Monument Protection Law .
Since 1266 there was a branch of the Augustinian Hermits in Erfurt . These were from 1273, after disputes with the city, temporarily expelled, but returned in 1276 final. Its seat was built around 1131 Church St. Philippi and Jacobi at the Comthurgasse. 1277 began the construction of the monastery. The funds for the extensive construction were raised in the following centuries through alms and the sale of waste . Until 1518, the construction of the library , St. Catherine's Chapel , the Chapter Hall , the church tower, a cloister , the nave, the Waidhäuser and the New Prioryfinanced between library and Waidhäusern. Particularly noteworthy in the surviving buildings are the stained glass windows of the church made between 1310 and 1340, as well as the outer pulpit , which testifies that at that time sermons were also held outdoors for large crowds.
Johannes Lang , a good friend of Luther, became prior to the monastery in 1522 and prepared the Reformation in Erfurt and the surrounding area. That same year, Lang left the order with many of the monks. In 1525 the church was handed over to the Johannesgemeinde. In 1556 the last monk died. The monastery was finally secularized in 1559.
Reconstruction Between 1936 and 1938, the church was reconstructed in the style of the 14th century and part of the monastery under the direction of architect Theo Kellner . In essence, after repairing the severe war damage, the church can still be seen in this condition today. The ground floor of the library building has also been redesigned to be used for museum purposes. The realization of further planning prevented the war.
From 2000 to 2003, the monastery buildings were restored and modernized. Since then, large parts of the buildings serve as a conference center. At the end of 2003, the Augustinerkloster zu Erfurt Foundation was founded under the trust agreement of the German Foundation for Monument Protection . Its foundation purpose is in particular the renovation, restoration, preservation, care and reconstruction (library and Waidhäuser) of the cultural monument Augustinerkloster zu Erfurt and its annexes, which is recognized according to the law of conservation of the state of Thuringia. In 2004, the Augustinian monastery was also recognized as a cultural monument of special national importance. In the same year the extensive restoration of the cloister took place.

SUSE and Erfurt University - A SUSE Story
The University of Erfurt is a public university located in Erfurt, the capital city of the German state of Thuringia. It was founded in 1379, and closed in 1816. It was re-established in 1994, three years after German reunification. Therefore it claims to be both the oldest and youngest university in Germany. The institution identifies itself as a reform university, due to its most famous alumnus Martin Luther, the instigator of the Reformation, who studied there from 1501 to 1505. Today, the main foci centre on multidisciplinarity, internationality, and mentoring. The university is home to the Max Weber Center for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies, the Gotha Research Center for Cultural and Social Scientific Studies, and the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy.
The Gotha Research Library, which has one of Germany's largest collections of early modern manuscripts, is part of the university. The University Library is also the keeper of the Bibliotheca Amploniana, a collection of nearly 1000 medieval manuscripts collected by the scholar Amplonius Rating de Berka (c.1363-1435), who was a former Rector of the university.[4]
