Leisure and Recriation VDNKh Park in Moscow // Russia Travel Guide on #DifferentRussia
We go to Leisure and Recriation VDNKh Park in Moscow. VDNKh is located in Ostankinsky District of Moscow, less than a kilometer from Ostankino Tower. It is served by VDNKh subway station, as well as by Moscow Monorail. Cosmonauts Alley and the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman statue are situated just outside the main entrance to VDNKh. It also borders Moscow Botanical Garden and a smaller Ostankino Park, and in recent years the three parks served as a united park complex.

STORYLINE:
The Japanese city of Osaka will host the World Expo in 2025, after beating out cities in Russia and Azerbaijan in the race to host an event expected to draw millions of visitors and showcase the local economy and culture.
Shouts of joy in Japanese rose up in the Paris auditorium where the 170 member states of the Bureau International des Expositions voted Friday in favour of Osaka's bid.
Japan's economy and trade minister, Hiroshige Seko, was in the room and led his compatriots in welcoming the victory.
Past world's fairs introduced such wonders as the Eiffel Tower, the Ferris Wheel and Seattle's Space Needle.
Today's version is aimed at finding solutions to challenges facing humanity.
Osaka proposed an expo on a man-made island on the theme of Society 5.0 and how to leverage robotics and artificial intelligence for the public good.
World Expos, which are held every five years, can last up to six months and cost millions of dollars to host, but can help put a city on the global map by bringing in international visitors and attention.
Milan hosted the last one in 2015, and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is set to host the next one in 2020.
No US city has hosted a world's fair since the 1980s.
The Russian city of Yekaterinburg was runnerup - the second loss this week for Russia at an international organization, after the Russian candidate to be president of global police agency Interpol lost out to a South Korean rival.
The capital of the oil-rich former Soviet country of Azerbaijan, Baku, came in third.
Osaka pitched itself as the safe, reliable choice - notably because it already held the 1970 Expo, while the other cities are lesser known and would have been first-time hosts.

Cosplayers, comic and animation fans gather for U:CON festival
(24 Sep 2018) LEAD-IN:
Cosplayers, video game and comic book enthusiasts have been gathering in Russia's third largest city to celebrate their love of fandom culture.
STORYLINE:
Transformers, super heroes, elves, monsters and lolitas have all gathered in this hall in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.
They've travelled from across the country to show off their self-made costumes, perform and take a look at the latest trends in cosplay, comics, science fiction and video games at the two-day U:CON convention.
The event is the first of its kind in the Ural region, straddling the border between Europe and Asia.
For the first time we organised here, at cinema platform U:Kino, the educational project Laser Head. We brought here over 45 comics authors from around the country and produced our compilation (of comics), set up a video games zone, we had a cosplay show, master classes, video bloggers, things that probably do interact with each other in normal life, but rarely meet all together at the same time, says one of the convention organisers Dyukha Tverdov.
On the festival's main stage, more than 200 cosplayers from around the country are taking part in a cosplay competition.
One of the key tasks is to covey the nature of their character as close as possible to the original.
A jury panel carefully considers all aspects of their presentation and marks them on their performance and the quality of their costumes.
One of the judges, Marina Sevelova, says the most successful cosplayers are the ones who make you want to find more about their character's origins.
Our task is to understand how much the person was involved into the creation of the costume. We also look at how he or she acted it, because it is necessary to show the character from the stage so that people see what character this is. The best outcome is when you see it, you think that you want to play this (game), you want to see this (movie).
Apart from acting on the stage, participants have to demonstrate their crafts skills, explaining in detail how they made their costumes.
The ones who create their own costumes from scratch get extra points.
Materials used vary from textiles and artificial hair to polymer materials, plastic, wood and jewellery resin.
Cosplayers spend anything between one month to a year making the outfits.
Anna Kotova explains that her personal passion is the process of making the costume itself.
I like to make them (the costumes), very much, I just like sitting and working on every single detail very meticulously. To perform on the stage is also nice to a certain extent, but I like making it.
During the convention the guests have a chance to learn about new products in related fields.
Thanks to such events, people who come to play computer games, or cosplay, get engaged into comics, those who come to read comics, get engaged into cosplay, or computer games, so it's all interconnected, the geek culture, says comic book author Yevgeny Yakovlev.
More than 45 novice authors and experienced artists presented their works at the authors' alley this year - including comics, graphic novels, text books and illustrations.
Director of publishing house 'Komilfo', Mikhail Bogdanov, thinks it's now harder than ever to break into the comic book market.
Alongside world-famous comic book series like Spiderman and Deadpool, the work of local artists is also on display at U:CON.
In the gaming area, computer game developers present their products and receive immediate feedback on their games.

Celebrating New Year 2018 In Russia
Entertainment is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience, or gives pleasure and delight. It can be an idea or a task, but is more likely to be one of the activities or events that have developed over thousands of years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience's attention.[1] Although people's attention is held by different things, because individuals have different preferences in entertainment, most forms are recognisable and familiar. Storytelling, music, drama, dance, and different kinds of performance exist in all cultures, were supported in royal courts, developed into sophisticated forms and over time became available to all citizens. The process has been accelerated in modern times by an entertainment industry that records and sells entertainment products. Entertainment evolves and can be adapted to suit any scale, ranging from an individual who chooses a private entertainment from a now enormous array of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted for two; to any size or type of party, with appropriate music and dance; to performances intended for thousands; and even for a global audience.
The experience of being entertained has come to be strongly associated with amusement, so that one common understanding of the idea is fun and laughter, although many entertainments have a serious purpose. This may be the case in the various forms of ceremony, celebration, religious festival, or satire for example. Hence, there is the possibility that what appears as entertainment may also be a means of achieving insight or intellectual growth.

Robot-artist | Робот-художник by Hello Computer
Robot-artist is Rosbank's interactive urban art project, which premiered in Moscow on 18th of June in 2017.
Hello Computer's team has faced a challenging task of showing the innovative character of the brand while engaging the audience into the conversation. We started with a common insight that banks are intelligent, yet soulless financial machines. Since Rosbank supports the Impressionists' collection in the Pushkin's Museum, we chose art as our starting ground and decided to prove that even machines can perceive and inspire.
We taught the industrial robot to draw like a real impressionist and scan the colors from the citizens’ clothes. Thousands of Muscovites gladly helped the robot to add bright colors to its paintings and became his co-authors. Later on, businessmen from all over the world lined up for the robot-artist's stand at the industrial exhibition Innoprom in Yekaterinburg. All these people have indicated their e-mail addresses to find the pictures on the website and share them on the social networks.
We came up with a new kind of art, where robots and people create works of art together. Thus, an effective way to break the estrangement barrier was found, showing Rosbank's innovative approach and proving that a bank can be inspiring.
The results of the project are as follows:
2 weeks in Sokolniki park, 2 pictures, 55 930 brush strokes
2 000 000 visitors
4508 participants, who contributed their pictures and left their e-mails.
Most visitors made videos and took picture of the branded space
We also had thousands of visitors and over 1000 participants from 20 different countries at the international trade fair Innoprom.
Media coverage:
The First Channel (2 airplays, TV program “Good morning”), Russia 1 (“News”, 20:00), air plays on channels Russia 24, OTR, RBK TV
Over 100 publications in municipal, business and foreign mass media resources.
The total reach is estimated at around 10 million people.
The interactive art project Robot-Artist brought together innovations, art and the city itself. There were three countries that took part in its development: Rosbank (financial group Societe Generale, France), FANUC (industrial robots, Japan) and Hello Computer (innovation company, Russia).

BAHRAIN JUFFAIR AFRICASIAEURO VIDEO
- Living in Bahrain
The Kingdom of Bahrain basks in the warm, clear and calm waters of the Persian Gulf and is an incredibly prosperous and multi cultural country becoming increasingly popular with professional expatriates seeking well paying employment in a low taxation country where the standard of living in Juffair Bahrain is incredibly high and the local people are liberal and tolerant towards other cultures.
Bahrain manages to maintain a relatively neutral foreign policy and because of its general liberalism it's a great place for Western expatriates to experience a totally new life abroad. These facts mean that the number of international citizens living in Bahrain has increased substantially in recent years and directly contributed to the fact that Bahrain now has the fastest growing economy in the Arab world.
For anyone considering living in Bahrain this article is an introduction to the country, the entry requirements and to living and working in Bahrain.
Citizens of all nations other than Gulf Cooperation Council countries require a visa to enter Bahrain with the majority of those moving to live in the Kingdom being sponsored for their visa by their employer. The range of visas available is vast with much depending on whether the applicant has a job offer, is a spouse or dependent of an employed person in Bahrain, the country the individual heralds from etc., and therefore those considering travelling to Bahrain should initially contact their nearest Bahraini embassy or visit the Kingdom of Bahrain's Ministry of Interior website to find out which visa they should apply for and how to go about the application process.
The capital city of the Kingdom of Bahrain is Manama and most expatriates live in and around the capital and work in one of the Kingdom's main industries which are petroleum production and processing, IT, telecommunications, hospitality, medicine or banking. As a result of the popularity of the location, property for sale and rent in Manama is offered at a premium and those moving to work in Bahrain on a firm job offer should try and negotiate some money towards their housing as part of their overall remuneration package.
Unlike in some other Arab nations foreigners are permitted to own property in Bahrain and because the economy of the nation is so strong many see investment into property in Bahrain as a solid move to make. However for those keen on living in Bahrain the first step to take is to secure a job offer and then to rent housing while settling into the Kingdom and ensuring it is right for them before committing to the purchase of immovable property assets that can be slow to liquidate should the individual in question decide to leave the Kingdom.
Finally it's worth noting that the standard of living enjoyed by westerners living in Bahrain is incredibly high. As stated Bahrain is a prosperous country and one offering residents and visitors alike a cosmopolitan destination with exciting nightlife and incredible shopping! Hence it is of no surprise whatsoever that the number of international expatriates moving to the Kingdom ever year is on the increase.
