Allsopp MTB Trail in Little Rock, AR
I was going through Little Rock, AR and had time to hit this gem of a trail in downtown Little Rock. It's a pretty big park divided by a subdivision. There are plenty of fun areas, flow and technical parts. If your ever in the area it would be a great trail to hit and it's not crazy long either.

Allsopp Park South Loop
Overview: The trail is not really long if you follow the outer loops, however, there are various little trails that jot off of the main loop. The loop is divided into two sections a North Loop and a South Loop. In order to get from one loop to the other, you have to ride through a nice little neighborhood. We started at some tennis courts and made our way around the trail. There are no long hard climbs on this trail and most of it is pretty tame. There are a few short steep climbs and a couple of fun little downhill's. The trail shows its kin to the Ouachita’s due to the number of rocks and roots in the path. If you are looking for a quick ride after work or just to get out and cruise, then this would be a good trail to pick. There are a few little sections that are rocky and or have some big roots that one must negotiate but other than that it is a fairly tame trail. This is a multi-use trail and lots of folks take walks on it so be prepared for hikers.
Recommended Route: The trailhead is located just behind the Tennis Courts just off the paved trail. I generally ride the South Loop in a CCW direction and the North in a CW direction.
Rating: This trail would be good for just about anyone. The day I went we had a new beginner with us, it was on this trail that she fell in love with mountain biking. Experts will like the trail for a quick workout, the beginner will appreciate it for developing needed skills.

Burns Park Trail Review 2017 - North Little Rock, AR Excellent
We started this ride from the BSA parking lot located on the north side of the Arlene Laman Drive, this is a gravel parking area with plenty of parking but don't plan on any restrooms facilities.
From this trailhead, you have the option of heading south and picking up the Red or Green Loops, or if you so choose you can head across Arlene Laman Drive and have access to the Blue, White and Yellow trails. We started out on the Red loop which is only a little less than 2 miles long. Red is all single track that is loaded with a plethora of rock gardens. This loop will test those rock avoidance skills you must master if you plan on doing much riding in Arkansas. There is a small elevation change when you are on the south side of the loop going in a CCW direction, it's not steep but the rocks give it a small challenge.
Once we finished the Red Loop and going in a CW direction we started out onto the Green loop, which in my opinion is one of the more fun loops out there as well as the longest coming in at 5 miles long. The loop will through a little bit of everything at you, rock gardens, short punchy climbs, and short mild climbs, there is one climb out there just after you cross Arlene Laymen on the south side that is a little bit of a sustained climb, a little steep with some roots and rocks along the way but the view from the top is good and the descent back down even better. You will also experience some nice flowy sections on this loop as well as some fast little descents.
Once we finished up the Green we headed across Arlene Layman Drive near the parking lot and got on what I call the Blue trail, this little area can get a little confusing as there is a small loop out there and the trail splits. Most of the Blue trail is pretty rocky with undulated terrain. This segment is short less than half a mile if you don't do the little loop out there.
Once we got to the White loop we turned right and followed it for a very short distance until it brought us to the Yellow Loop. When the Yellow split into two trails we veered off the right and did the loop in a CCW direction. The Yellow Loop is by far the most beginner friendly trail out there, it is mostly flat and wide with nothing really technical on it. The loop is about 2 miles long. This is also the loop where you might see equestrians on the trail but you will be riding in a pretty open forest, no blind turns. This is a fun little loop to hammer on.
Once you come to the covered bridge you will have a choice to make. You can head across Arlene Layman Drive and pick up the little connector trail and this will take you back to the parking lot or you can continue straight onto the Yellow Trail, not Loop this is a whole different trail from what you just rode.
The Yellow Trail continues on into the trees for a short distance at which time it will dump you off onto Tournament Drive where you will hang a right and go down a hill and pick up a short paved trail just past the tree line on your right. The paved trail section is also very short as it darts around the north side of some soccer fields. You will come to a gate which allows bikers and pedestrians through and once past the gate you will pick up some single track/ old dirt road out through a field. This little section is a bit on the boring side but it does keep you away from all the traffic on the ball fields. You will eventually come to another paved trail where you will take a left for a short distance and then take a right onto the Pfeifer Loop.
The Pfeifer Loop would be another good loop for a beginner mountain biker, there is little elevation change and nothing really technical, it can be a bit busy with walkers I guess because it is so close to the Arkansas River Trail. The loop is not very long a little less than 2 miles but still kind of fun to ride.
If you are still needing more miles and don't mind some paved riding, once you are finished with the Pfeifer Loop then jump on the Arkansas River Trail which is paved and ride it over the Big Dam Bridge to the Little Rock side where you will take a right and do a short loop on the paved Two Rivers Park Trail.
Burns Park is right off I-40 with easy access. There are trails out there for every level of riding, you will find rock gardens, short climbs, that are both mild and punchy, fast flow sections and tight technical sections.

Burns Park Green Loop
Overview: Most of this trail is single track that weaves in and out of the woods. As with most trails in this area, there are various rocks and roots to contend with. The trail is well laid out in the park with plenty of bailout points. There are a few technical areas that require some good handling skills. For the most part, this trail is fast, tight and twisty. The trail is always a treat to ride. The yellow loop which is located to the Northwest is a shared-use trail with equestrians. This loop is a lot flatter and gentler of a ride, just watch out for horses. The entire trail is shared with hikers so be nice and don't run over anyone out there. Part of the trail was built by the local Boy Scout Club. The trail is pretty well marked but can still be a bit confusing at times.
Recommended Route: We normally ride the Green loop in a clockwise direction and then do the red loop in a counter-clockwise direction. Head over to the blue loop do it in a CCW direction and then do the white in a CCW direction as well as the yellow.
Rating: This trail is nice for almost all riders. The advanced and intermediate riders should enjoy this trail for its steep little climbs and the flow of the trail, great to get a good little workout in.

Jackfork Trail Review 2017 - Little Rock, AR Rock Garden Roll
We parked at the Pinnacle Mountain State Park Visitor Center parking area, nice paved parking and restrooms can be found at the Visitor Center.
The trail starts off pretty mild but don't get comfortable you will soon hit a short but somewhat of a punchy climb, you are now starting the north side of the loop. You use to be able to ride this loop in any direction and I guess you still can but the signs will direct you in a clockwise direction. The north side of this loop always seems a little tougher to me then south side maybe fewer rocks, not really sure.
On the north side of this loop, you are going to find numerous rock gardens and many of those do not have a ride around on them so be prepared for a bumpy ride. The trail on the north side also seems to have more climbing as it traverses up and down a hillside. The climbs are short but some can be a bit on the punchy side, not to mention the fact that odds are you will be having to deal with melon-sized rocks and roots. The descents are short but fun and we can't forget about those rocks.
The south side which is close to Pinnacle Valley Road seems to be a bit milder and as I stated above I think it is because the rock gardens are not as numerous as the north side, still, there will be some rocks and roots to deal with. The short climbs do not seem to be as numerous but some can be a bit punchy.
The trail overall is a great place to come to and work on those bike handling skills. Corridors are wide and the tread is loose rock, seems like it would do well after a rain. This is not a flow trail by any means, it's what I call an Old School Adventure Trail. Signage on the trail is good so you shouldn't need to consult MTBProject or Trailforks much for this one. This would not be a good trail for someone just breaking into mountain biking. I would say an advanced beginner and up should do alright out there. If you are uncomfortable with riding rock gardens then you might want to go somewhere else. This is a bit of a Technical ride and comparing it to other trails in the Little Rock area I would say this one ranks up toward the top. There is a smaller more novice-friendly trail located across Pinnacle Mountain State Park Drive called Rabbit Ridge.
