This 6 minute video was taken during our dives at Isla Del Coco using just a go-pro 2. The extreme wide angle makes the animals look much further away than they were. I stole (with permission) some footage from Matt, another diver, notably the whale shark and the night scene as he got a better image of both than I did. Please excuse the music - all I had that would not trigger the Facebook copyright thingy... Most of these shots are at 100 feet below the surface. Not much light so the quality is not great.

Papagayo Fishing Costa Rica - Papagayo Fishing Charters & Day Trips
PAPAGAYO FISHING CHARTERS AND FISHING ADVENTURES
Fishing in the Gulf of Papagayo is not exactly new in Costa Rica. In tourist destinations such as Ocotal Beach, in the north, via Playa del Coco, Playa Hermosa and Playa Panama, Costa Rican local captains have been offering fishing charters to Papagayo for at least a quarter of a century.
One of the first and best-known sport fishing operators in Costa Rica in the Gulf of Papagayo is American Captain Don King, whose Coco Beach Predator has become one of the most popular charter boats in saltwater fishing in the northern area of Guanacaste and the Gulf of Mexico.
The new marina adds to the fishing in the Gulf of Papagayo
Sport Fishing Boats Available in Papgayo, Costa Rica Over the last twelve years, several upscale hotels have sprung up on the beautiful Papagayo coast, including Papagayo's Andaz Papagayo, Papagayo's Secrets, Mangroove Papagayo and the most popular Occidental Papagayo and Riú Papagayo.
The inauguration half a dozen years ago of the charming Four Seasons Papagayo coincided with the construction of the luxurious and modern marina of Papagayo, 180 feet, 10 minutes north.
The Papagayo Marina has attracted several sport fishing boats from Costa Rica to the area and the marina itself, although most of the boats moored there are private luxury yachts.
Costa Rica's fishing charters move to the coast and to the coast.
Adventures and sport fishing trips in Papagayo Fishing in Papagayo is known for its large marine fish, mainly sailfish and blue, black and striped marlin. Dorado (mahi-mahi) and yellowfin tuna are also abundant.
Fishermen who book their Costa Rica sport fishing charter on boats leaving the marina of Papagayo, for example, and want to target billfish, will go to the coast a little south of the Catalina Islands, which is also a diving destination, and snorkeling, or north of Bat Island and even closer to the Nicaraguan border.
A 20-minute drive from Culebra Bay on the Papagayo Peninsula, there are many coastal fishing spots where Costa Rican anglers can go to Roosterfish, Snapper, Almaco Jack, Grouper, Sierra Mackerel and others, species. In the panorama of fishing in Papagayo, Roosterfish is a great sport for those looking for a real fight.
Papagayo fishing takes place all year round in Guanacaste. The year is basically divided into two fishing seasons: windy and green and the fish does not fail each season. The fishermen who fish Papagayo are between April and December.
While the wind season gives way to the green season in April, the Papagayo winds calm and intermittent rain warms the surrounding ocean.
Between this date and December, fishing in Papagayo is less dictated by the climate than by the location of the bite.
As in other areas of the North Pacific, sport anglers in Costa Rica will see the peak of the oil spill season at the end of July, and in August, yellowfin tuna will bite a little later and El Dorado will bite closer to the rivers and reeds and trunks thrown into the sea.
Consider Tamarindo from January to April.
For all those who book at hotels in the Papagayo area between mid-December and mid-April and are interested in fishing in Costa Rica, we recommend that you hire your sport fishing captain in Costa Rica from Tamarindo to the south.
Even if the trip to Tamarindo can take up to 90 minutes by car, it will be worthwhile, as its chances of cancellation and fishing will be considerably reduced.
