Central Mosque Almaty
Religion in Kazakhstan is about 70% Muslim by head of population, with other religions making up the remaining 30%.
As you would expect from these statistics, the Central Mosque is a magnificent building, constructed in the Timurid style of architecture.
The Mosque looks ancient, with its Turkish calligraphy, domes and minarets, but was only completed in 1999.

Green Bazar Almaty Meat Spice and Dried Fruits and Nuts
A trip to Almaty wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Green Bazaar.
With all its special local products (horse meat, local dairy ) to me it was one of the strongest impressions of our trip.
You will see from my several other videos I have posted on line the flavours and tastes of Green Bazaar.
The people are friendly and even the once who were not so friendly started to lough and smile as I was walking through the market.
Just an amazing place to spend half a day if not the entire day watching farmers and market life.
The entire world should revert back to farming foods and stop following the giant super markets.
Fresh tasty and good with natural and real organic produce.

Sights of Almaty City, Kazakhstan
Almaty is Kazakhstan's largest city and was its capital until 1997 when the capital was moved to Astana.
Almaty (known during Soviet times as Alma-Ata) derives its name from father of apples, as the wild fruit is believed to have originated here.
Today, Almaty is a leading financial hub in Central Asia and an educational hub, with many universities, attracting students from all over Kazakhstan and the region.

We fly into Almaty on a sunny and warm day in June. After checking into the World Hotel Saltanat, we head out to see the sights. Along the way, I sample some Kumis, fermented mare's milk, buy some cheap Kazakh champagne and walk for miles.

Almaty Zhybek Zholy (Pedestrian)Street-Bazaar:
Up until 1917 Zhibek Zholy was called Trade street, business street, or a shopping street. There were a lot of merchant houses, and there were a lot of fairs and exhibitions. And even today, after almost 100 years the street has a spirit of that time. On the weekends artisans gather on this street and present their handmade products. By the way, it is the first street with a stone road.
This part of the street Zhibek Zholy is called Arbat. Just as in Moscow, Arbat is the main shopping street of the city. Here you can find whatever you want. There is a high fashion shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants. At the west end of Arbat, on the right side is the Central Department Store. This was the first shopping mall of such a level that has remained since the Soviet period. The building was built in 1961 and was reconstructed in 2014.
