Fly Around Almscliffe Crag nr Harrogate Yorkshire England
Almscliffe Crag is a Millstone Grit outcrop at the top of a small hill near the village of North Rigton, between Leeds / Otley and Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England. The crag was formed due to the softer adjacent strata of shale and mudstone eroding at a faster rate than the hard wearing millstone
The crag is one of the best climbing locations in the area. The crag was featured in the first rock climbing guide to the Peak District, 'Some Gritstone Climbs', published in 1913 and written by John Laycock. Some classic climbs include Parsons' Chimney (HS 4b), Black Wall Eliminate (E2 5c), and Wall of Horrors (E3 5c). Almscliffe Crag has proved popular as a filming location for Yorkshire Television. From 1998 to 2005 it appeared in the opening titles of the ITV soap Emmerdale. Each series of the Beiderbecke Trilogy ends at Almscliffe Crag. Harrogate is a town in North Yorkshire, England, east of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Its heritage as a fashionable spa resort continues in the Montpellier Quarter with the Royal Pump Room Museum, documenting the importance of local mineral springs. Nearby is the restored, Moorish-style Turkish Baths & Health Spa. To the west, leafy Valley Gardens features the art deco Sun Pavilion.
Harrogate spa water contains iron, sulphur and common salt. The town became known as 'The English Spa' in the Georgian era, after its waters were discovered in the 16th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries its 'chalybeate' waters (containing iron) were a popular health treatment, and the influx of wealthy but sickly visitors contributed significantly to the wealth of the town.
Harrogate railway station and Harrogate bus station in the town centre provide transport connections. Leeds Bradford International Airport is 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Harrogate. The main roads through the town are the A61, connecting Harrogate to Leeds and Ripon, and the A59, connecting the town to York and Skipton. Harrogate is also connected to Wetherby and the A1, by the A661.
The town is served by four railway stations; Harrogate (for town centre), Hornbeam Park, Pannal (towards Leeds) and Starbeck on the Harrogate Line to Knaresborough and York. Harrogate bus station is in the town centre. It is managed by Harrogate Bus Company, the main operator.

Short video from Almscliffe Crag March 2015.
Although it was a beautiful clear day, the wind was gusting around 15mph making flying a little 'interesting'. Since we were unable to achieve the level of control we wanted, we ditched filming after a few minutes and header for a less windy location.... we will return here :)
The quad copter we used in this filming was a DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus, version 3. Always remember to run the latest firmware in your DJI before takeoff!.
The footage was processed in Premier Pro C 2014 for editing and slight colour grading.
The DJI Phantom here is operated in Naza mode and we switch in and out of modes as required during flights.

Just a short video, not a lot going on. I decided to play with the colour of the video to add 'something' to the finished result :)
