Cusco, How to Walk to Almudena Cemetery from Plaza de Armas
Walking from Cusco's (Peru) Plaza de Armas, the path is direct to the Almudena Cemetery, a 30 to 45 minute stroll dependent on your speed and the bodies adjustment to Cusco's altitude. Though the route is simple, it can be confusing because the street you should follow suffers from an identity crisis: its name changes every few blocks along the way. On November 1st and 2nd every year the dia de los vivos (day of the living) and dia de los muertos (day of the dead) are celebrated at the cemetery.

Peru - Day of the Dead marked with music, dance | Editor's Pick | 01 Nov 16
Peruvians celebrated the Day of the Dead on Tuesday at local cemeteries with live music, traditional indigenous dances and smiles.
Thousands of people gathered at the cemeteries, where they made offerings to their dead relatives.
At the Nueva Esperanza cemetery in Lima, one of the largest in the world, dancers performed traditional indigenous dances at the gravesites.
The Day of the Dead combines the Roman Catholic observance of All Saints Day with the pre-Hispanic custom of offering food, or even cigars and tequila, to the deceased.
People believe that the souls of their departed loved ones return for the day.
The feast day is also a chance to tend to graves, water plants and tidy up the plots.

Chauchilla Cemetery - Nazca
For many years Chauchilla cemetery was looted by treasure hunters, who destroyed the place completely, taking away all the treasures the mummies kept in their tombs for centuries. Grave robbers just left behind the corpses, which can be seen today all over the ground. In addition to skulls and bones, visitors also can see several tombs centuries old, as well as long human hairs, ceramic fragments and others remains scattered on the dessert surface. It is the only archaeological site in Peru, in which ancient mummies are seen in their original graves, along with ancient artifacts, dating back to 1000 AD.
