Sailing Thailand - Provisioning in Phuket, Anchoring at Ko Rang Yai, Snorkeling Racha Yai, Ep. 9
After 3 weeks of rock climbing in Tonsai and Railay we still had about 10 days left on our Thai visa. We made our way to Phuket and rented a 37 foot Bavaria Cruiser and sailed from Phuket all around the Andaman Sea for a week making stops in Ko Rang Yai and Racha Yai.
The anchorages were well spaced out and we ended up having a perfect amount of provisions after trying to be resourceful at a glorified 7/11 store. The biggest problem was the lack of wind in the middle of the day and determining the right depth to anchor in.
We prep to make a long sail to the Phi Phi Islands next.

Phuket Island (pronounced puu gèt) (ภูเก็ต) , is Thailand's largest at 48km in length and 21km at its widest. It's in Southern Thailand, on the west-facing Andaman Sea coastline, suspended from the southern tip of Phang Nga Province by a pair of short but substantial road bridges.
The most important of the 29 buddhist temples of Phuket is Wat Chalong (Thai: วัดฉลอง) or formally Wat Chaiyathararam (Thai: วัดไชยธาราราม), located in the Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. It is dedicated to two highly venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem (หลวงพ่อแช่ม) and Luang Pho Chuang (หลวงพ่อช่วง), who led the citizens of Chalong Subdistrict fighting against the Chinese rebellion in 1876 and with their knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured.
The large market at Wat Chalong extends into the grounds of the temple and features amplified pop music and Thai-fighting advertisements.
The temple sells trinkets to visitors and the monks assist by storing boxes of items in their main prayer hall.
Patong (Thai: ป่าตอง; rtgs: Pa Tong) refers to the beach and town on Phuket's west coast. It is the main tourist resort on the island of Phuket, and is the center of Phuket's nightlife and shopping. The beach became popular with Western tourists, especially Europeans, in the late 1980s. Numerous hotels are located there and the area has expanded into a tourist Mecca.
Budha statue formal name is : Puttamingmongkol Akenakkiri' (พระมิ่งมงคลเอกนาคคีรี) It is a budha is yet to be built in Phuket island of Thailand. Once complete, it will be 45 metres tall with a base diametre of 25 metres. It looks towards Phang Nga Bay in the east and backs towards Andaman Sea in the west. It is believed to cost no less than 30 million Thai baht.
Ko Phi Phi (หมู่เกาะพีพี) is a small archipelago of six islands in Krabi Province, Southern Thailand. It is touted to be one of the most beautiful yet easily accessible island groups in the world. While the latter is certainly true, the former is quickly becoming less so. The entire region is technically part of a marine National Park, but the hordes of visitors have taken a toll on the beaches and reefs over the years.
