Exploring KAUAI, HAWAII in 4 DAYS! A NEW Travel Itinerary Challenge Series
In the second video as part of our Travel Itinerary Challenge series, we explore Kauai, Hawaii in 4 days and try our best to eat, see, and do as many things as possible based on a prepared itinerary list!
~~~~~~
If this is your first time viewing our videos, welcome and thank you! For some background about this series:
For our first ever visit to the State of Hawaii, we embarked on a 4-island hopping adventure! After visiting Oahu, we spent 4 days exploring Kauai, also known as the Garden Island.
( In cased you missed the Oahu Itinerary Challenge video, check it out here )
With this trip to Hawaii, we wanted to chronicle our adventures visiting 4 different islands in a new Travel Itinerary Challenge Series to share our experience doing, eating, and seeing a number of attractions in a set amount of time.
In our years traveling together, we found our travel style involves cramming as many things into an itinerary as our body can handle. We plan a rough itinerary or list of things we want to do, see, and eat at our destination.
Below is the original itinerary we set out to complete. In our Itinerary Challenge Series, we will see how close we get to checking off each item on our list.
*We were informed by a viewer, Dionys Murphy, that the name locals give to Kalepa Ridge Trail is Pig Trail through the Gate.
***An eagle eyed viewer informed us that we have misspelled the name of Maui at 21:20. We incorrectly wrote Mauai instead of Maui. Apologies for the spelling error. ***
Beautiful Kauai 2BR Vacation Towhome with ocean views at the beachfront Kiahuna Resort in Poipu
This beautiful end unit condo has been remodeled upstairs with new bamboo flooring, tile, and with an open kitchen design with granite, It is one of the few 2 bedroom units where you can experience the beach from your very own private lanai. We take pride in our unit and you will notice the nice finishing touches we have added to make you feel you are part of Real Kauai. Kiahuna Plantation is a beautiful resort located on Kauai's world famous Poipu Beach, which is located on the sunniest side of the Island. This beach is perfect for snorkeling, learning how to surf, swimming and catching waves. Kiahuna is also known for their beautiful gardens, koi ponds, and tropical flowers, fruits, and many types of birds that you will see as you walk the grounds.
Even though you will get the plantation feel from staying at our unit that does not mean that you will miss out on any of the things you have left from home. The beds are all new and the unit also comes with newly improved digital cable on a 45 inch screen with CD and DVD players. The Kitchen is also updated with modern cookware, microwave, and toaster oven. We have also added a wet bar where you can have fun preparing your own Mai Tai's, set up a buffet for you or your guests, or just display all your farmers market fruits. Don't forget to utilize the newly updated barbecue area right next to us at the lagoon to cook up some fantastic local fish and veggies.
The Newly opened Poipu Beach Athletic Club is just across Poipu Road from Kiahuna Plantation. Our membership grants all of our guest full access to the pool with sand beach, workout room, jacuzzi and tennis courts. There are also Yoga Classes offered for a marginal fee.
There is also the Kiahuna Golf Club and Shopping center which is walking distance to numerous restaurants, stores, and Hawaiian shows presented. Feel free to go to the outrigger front desk to ask any questions while you are staying at the property. There is also 24 hour security maintenance to help you if needed. There is also a concierge service that can book outside excursions and help guide you to which ones that fit your interests.
Picture yourself at this beautiful island paradise. Aloha!
Mike & Mark depart Anini beach headed to Hanalei ~ 01/21/11
TIP EP0110-Kauai Beauty
In my newest episode of Trapped in Paradise let's take a look at some of the sights around the island of Kauai starting in Waimea Town and going all the way to the end of the road at the base of the Napali cliffs on the north shore of the island where the road dead ends at Ke'e beach park.
First is a tour of the beach cottage where I stayed in Waimea Town. Check out Inn Waimea at innwaimea.com. The cottage was three houses from the beach and you could hear the surf in the living room at night.
The Captain Cook monument is also located in Waimea.
Between Waimea and Poipu are the salt ponds which stand as a testament to the old ways of deriving salt from the sea.
In Poipu along the crags of the volcanic shore the sea enters following a tube up to the surface. The water pushes the air forcefully expelling it with a whistle and a whoosh!
The Kilauea Point Wildlife Refuge houses a lighthouse used to guide the ships at sea and is home to a number of birds including the red-footed boobie, Laysan Albatross and wedge-tailed shears. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1976 to be replaced by automated beacons.
Lastly we travel as far as we can on State Highway 560 stopping at the wet and dry caves before arriving at Ke'e Beach.
Hope you enjoy!
