In August, 1985 Carol and Alan planned and walked tough trail through the mountains of the Bernese Oberland from Interlaken to Brig over 2 weeks. Fantastic scenery all the way, views of the Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau, Monte Rosa, Weisshorn, Matterhorn, Aletschgletscher.....

Eiger Trail Hiking Grindelwald Switzerland July 2016 Alps Alpine
Away from Ulster this time, I got to walk the Eiger Trail, along the base of the Eiger Nordwand (North Face.) Being a bit of an armchair mountaineer, this was special for me. Since reading The White Spider by Heinrich Harrer I have been fascinated and in awe of this, the greatest of all the alpine north faces.

Short compilation of our trip to the stunning Swiss Alps mountain ranges around Grindelwald, including Jungfrau, Eiger, Männlichen. We stayed in Grindelwald and did day trips on the trains and cable cars, visiting all the surrounding mountains and villages. Highly rerecorded during summer or winter.
The Jungfrau is known as the top of Europe, is over 4000m high and accessible only via the Jungfrau Railway which runs 9 kilometres from Kleine Scheidegg to the highest railway station in Europe at Jungfraujoch, between the Bernese Highlands and the Valais in Switzerland.
The mountains provide stunning cable car journeys and walks that are an unforgettable experience!

Grindelwald-First makes the hearts of many adventurers beat faster. First Flyer, Mountain Cart and Trottibike scooter provide the adrenaline rush and the need for speed. If that's not enough, then there's the First Cliff Walk by Tissot. The summit trail consists of an approximately 40-metre long one-rope suspension bridge, climbing stairs and a 45-metre long observation platform.
Grindelwald-First is also the starting point for many hiking trails. On a tour to Bachalpsee , for example, you can enjoy the idyllic Swiss Alps. The snow-covered peaks of the Alps are reflected in the crystal clear blue water.

Grindelwald-First fait battre plus fort le cœur des aventuriers. Le First Flyer,, le Mountain Cart et le scooter Trottibike offrent un véritable rush d'adrénaline et satisfont les mordus de vitesse. Grindelwald is a village and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Berne in Switzerland. In addition to the village of Grindelwald, the municipality also includes the settlements of Alpiglen, Burglauenen, Grund, Itramen, Mühlebach, Schwendi, Tschingelberg and Wargistal.
Grindelwald village is located at 1,034 m (3,392 ft) above sea level in the Bernese Alps.

Live to Travel, Travel to Live
The Eiger Trail
While on holiday in Switzerland we hiked along the Eiger Trail from Eigergletscher to Alpiglen. We took the train from Lauterbrunnen to Kleine Scheidegg and walk from there to Eigergletcher. Then the train home from Alpiglen via Grindelwald after a well deserved pint.

Grindelwald | Eiger Trail 2019 - Hiking to see The Eiger in Switzerland
Hiking the Eiger Trail in Grindelwald, Switzerland. This took us about 5 hours, including some stopping to gawp at the incredible views, hydrating and some snacks including tinned maceral, a Snickers and some nuts I believe? It got us as close to The Eiger as possible without death but still feeling a little bit like Clint Eastwood. Well worth it!
