Visit Myrtleford
The major hub of the rich Ovens Valley agricultural region, this lovely town with its welcoming avenues of mature poplars and Pin oaks is set against a beautiful mountain backdrop and surrounded by green, fertile farmland.
Originally known as Myrtle Creek, the town was shaped by pioneer graziers, gold seekers and timber getters. The arrival of large numbers of Italian migrants in the 1920s and the immediate aftermath of the Second World War saw Myrtleford established as a major tobacco growing centre. Until the closure of the nindustry in 2006, tobacco was the major crop grown here and today, many of the distinctive corrugated iron tobacco drying kilns can still be seen around the town. These days the tobacco farms have been replaced by wine grapes, hops, walnuts and chestnuts, blueberries and raspberries, cherries, apples, kiwifruit, olives, vegetables, beef and dairy cattle. Locally grown fresh produce is readily available around Myrtleford at farm gates and at the weekly Produce Market in the grounds of St Pauls Church from the first Saturday in December to the last Saturday in May.
Bright Freeburgh Caravan Park presented by Bright Freeburgh Caravan Park
Bright Freeburgh Caravan Park
Unique, natural, tranquil, serene and relaxing are just some of the words used by our visitors who just keep coming back. The atmosphere is unique, kids on their bikes, having a ball in the large solar heated pool, playing in the rock pools in the river, table tennis, pool or watching t/v in the games room or organized games on the oval.
When evening arrives light your own personal camp fire and toast marshmallows under the stars (so close you can almost touch them) and tell your kids stories of what it was like when you were a kid out bush.
Bright and district.
Stay in the park and experience tranquility 10 kms from Bright or explore some of the many activities in and around Bright, Victoria's tourist Mecca. There is heaps to do for all ages and your time here is assured of being memorable.
The park is owned and operated by John and Nicole (and we can't get by without our staff who keep the gardens neat and the cabins spotless).
Adventure Travel Film Festival at Bright, Victoria

Tour of The Bendigo Centre
At Bendigo and Adelaide Bank we have embraced the task of building a sustainable community by investing in one of regional Australias first Five Star Green Star designed buildings.
The six-storey office building accommodates almost 1000 staff and is a landmark redevelopment in Bendigos city centre.
The Bendigo Centre uses half the energy of a typical office building, is complete with a Water Recycling Treatment Plant that saves 20,000 litres of waste water a day. An under-floor displacement air conditioning system which uses considerably less energy than a traditional unit.

Turning of the Fagus - Hiking Cradle Mountain in Autumn
This Autumn I hiked throughout the iconic Cradle Mountain National Park, which forms part of the World Heritage Wilderness area of Tasmania, Australia.
Autumn is a fantastic time to visit Cradle Mountain, with the special tree known as Nothofagus gunnii (called ‘fagus’ for short) putting on a spectacular show. The crinkle cut leaves turn from green to rich gold during autumn, before quickly dropping off for winter. Fagus is found within the highland regions of Tasmania and is endemic to the area, meaning it exists nowhere else in the world other than Tasmania!
This hike started at sunrise at Dove Lake car park. From there you can follow the Dove lake circuit track towards Marions lookout link track. Once at Marions Lookout, follow the famous Overland track a short distance until you reach Kitchen hut. From here you will see the junction for the track to summit Cradle Mountain.
I would recommend leaving your pack at the junction to summit Cradle Mountain, as the climb involves minor rock scrambling – be warned as some clever birds have learnt how to undo zips and are notorious for stealing hiker’s food from packs left behind.
This trek is very achievable for a day trip. The National Park can get busy during this time of year, so best to head out early in the morning.
Also be aware that the road between Cradle Mountain Information Centre and Dove Lake car park closes to the public during the day, in-order to run the shuttle bus service. Check the ‘Parks Tas’ website for more info, as you don’t want to miss the last shuttle bus and be stranded.
Thanks for watching
