Landstraßer Hauptsraße is one of the main streets in Vienna. It starts at the Stadtpark and traverses the district of Landstraße. It is mainly a shopping street with not many high street brands. It has also some sights of interest like the Rochuskirche (Rochus church) from the 18th century in baroque style and the Krankenhaus St. Elisabetth, a hospital and church also built in the 18th century. At Rochusgasse thereis a small outdoor market. This is an area not visited by many tourist so it shows a more local side of Vienna.

The Capital of Austria is home to nearly one third of the county’s inhabitants and is its primary city. The city has a very centralized layout radiating from the historic first district, or Inner-City with the Stephansdom and Stephansplatz at the centre of a bullseye. It is encircled by the Ringstraße (Ring Road), a grand boulevard constructed along the old city walls, which were torn down at the end of the 19th century. Along the Ringstraße are many famous and grand buildings, including the Rathaus [City Hall], the Austrian Parliament, the Hofburg Palace, the Natural History Museum, the Museum of Art History (Kunsthistorisches Museum), and the State Opera House.
Districts 2-9 are considered the core districts and are gathered within the Gürtel (Belt Road), which encircles the core districts as an outer ring concentric to the Ring around the first district, with the noteable exception of Leopoldstart (District 2).
The outer 14 districts are largely less urban but are equally as diverse streching from Floridsdorf (21st District) which radiates from its own town center in the northeast on the eastern bank of the Danube and Donaustadt (22nd District) which includes a mix of farms, suburbia, soviet-style housing blocks, villages, the United Nations Headquarters and the Donauturm (Danube Tower) and includes the largest development project in Central Europe at Aspern, through tarditional worker-oriented districts like Simmering (11th District) and Favoriten (10th District) in the south to more mixed urban areas with much immigrant culture like Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus (15th District) and Ottakring (16th District) in the West and Brigittenau (20th District) in the northeast and Döbling (19th District) on the adjacent side of the Danube famous for its vineyards

EPISODE 041: The one where I travel to Vienna, Austria and go from amazing Gothic Cathedrals to the banks of the Danube to search out miles of graffiti art and murals. I almost didn't even travel to Vienna since I'm kind of, umm, thrifty, but after seeing the amazing history and hitting the reset at an amazing hostel, I'm so glad I did! Im 9. Bezirk werden diese von der Agendagruppe Ruhige Orte am Alsergrund gesammelt. Eine dieser Orte ist der Bertha-Löwi-Weg, der abseits vom Verkehr Raum zum Erholen bietet. Die Agendagruppe Grüner Durchgang bemüht sich, um eine schönere Gestaltung dieses Weges und hat mit der Errichtung von Hochbeeten bereits erste Schritte gesetzt.

This evening I went for a little walk in my neighbourhood Alsergrund, the 9th 'Bezirk'. It's not yet discovered by the average tourist, but because of the students who live here, there are enough bars, restaurants and shops. Since I'm working on a deadline, I haven't seen much from the district since my arrival last Tuesday. But from what I have seen, it seems quite balanced. The street I live in, is nice and quiet with aristocatic houses and hardly any traffic. But just around the corner there is this lovely square with a beautiful and typical Austrian church, the 'Servitenkirche', and a few nice bars and restaurants. Today I sat down at one of them, called Luxor, and had my first 'Viennese' cappuccino.
