The Old Town Hall on Bonn's market square was built in 1737-38 in the style of the Rococo by the elector court architect Michael Leveilly ; However, it was not completely completed until around 1780. The three-storey building has seven window axes and a mansard roof with dormers. It stands as a monument under monument protection .
In addition to its central location in Bonn city center and the former function as the seat of the city administration, the town hall has also become known through the gilded staircase on the market square. In the course of history, this was repeatedly the scene of important events; famous personalities appeared there before the people of Bonn.
On October 18, 1944 , the city hall burned down to the surrounding walls in the Allied bombing raids during the Second World War , and part of the vaults in the basement were breached. The subsequent reconstruction took place waiving the existing stucco decorations and a more highly trained roof until 1950.
The building on the marketplace lost its function in 1978 as the seat of the city administration, since the capacity was no longer sufficient after the 1969 completed incorporations and in Nordstadt a new townhouse was built. However, it is still used by the city of Bonn as a representation object. Significant resolutions and meetings outside the committees and councils continue to be held there. In addition, significant speeches and celebrations are held in the Old Town Hall for the city. In addition to the mayor, the board of directors also has fundamental affairs and the executive committeeInternational affairs and representation based in the Old Town Hall. The city of Bonn offers the option on selected dates in the wedding room of City Hall registry office to marry.
The building was in bad condition for some years, the necessary renovation was postponed several times for financial reasons. The renovation of the façade, doors, windows and roof, as well as the renewal of the technology (heating, air conditioning and sanitary facilities) and the improvement of the fire protection costs 5.45 million euros and lasted from February 2010 to June 2011. The refurbishment was financed funded by the so-called stimulus package .

Passau, Germany: Things To Do In The City Of Three Rivers [Travel Guide]
This time, we stopped in the small city, colourful city of Passau, Germany. The city lies very close to the Austrian border and is also the point where THREE major rivers - the Ilz, Danube, and Inn - meet!
From a stunning cathedral to the charming old town, we had a really relaxing time exploring the city when we visited at the start of September! We even got the chance to hike up to the Veste Oberhaus - a fortress that is over 800 years old - and enjoyed a drink with amazing views! Passau is also a popular stop for Danube river cruises so if you're visiting Passau (for whatever reason), this video should give you a snapshot of what to expect!
Of course, we are also going to publish a blog post with lots of tips for Passau. Unfortunately, we have quite a backlog when it comes to our written articles, but we'll get to it - promise!
You can visit our website - Penguin and Pia - for destination tips, wanderlust-inducing goodies, and all things travel. As always, Happy Waddlin'!

WHAT TO DO IN BAVARIA in 60 seconds
Mighty mountains and castles, hearty food and leather trousers – a trip through Bavaria is like wandering through a stereotypical dream of Germany. Here are our highlights in 60 seconds!

It went all too fast? You want the details? No problem.
Here are our recommendations in order of appearance:
00:08 Schwaigsee, Upper Bavaria
Just one example of the beautiful views over lakes and mountains of the Upper Bavaria and Allgäu regions.
00:10 Bratwursthäusle, Nuremberg
Nuremberg is famous for its small grilled sausages. They are usually served with mustard and sauerkraut. And delicious.
00:12 Klosterschenke Weltenburg, Kelheim
Of course: No trip through Bavaria without a stop at a beer garden. The one at the monastery in Weltenburg is especially pretty. Prost to the monks!
00:13 Altenauer Dorfwirt, Altenau
Bavarians love and live their traditions. If you are really lucky like us you end up sitting in the middle of leather trousers and accordions for a Bavarian concert.
00:15 Alte Utting, Munich
“Let’s take that old ship of the Ammersee and put it on a railway bridge!” These young Germans had balls – and are now owning the most unique bar complex in Bavarian’s capital.
00:19 Weißwurstäquator, Zwiesel
The “equator of the Weißwurst” (a typical Bavarian sausage) is a playful description for a (pseudo-)cultural border that separates parts of Bavaria from the rest of Germany.
00:23 Würzburger Residenz
The UNESCO world heritage site is said to be one of the world’s most impressive baroque castles and well, it is simply beautiful!
00:26 Schloss Neuschwanstein, Schwangau
This is it. THE fairy tale castle of all fairy tale castles. The blueprint of the Walt Disney Castle.
00:31 Fuggerei, Augsburg
The Fuggerei is the world’s oldest social housing complex. Woodbine makes it an especially pretty site in autumn.
00:32 Marienplatz, Munich
The main square of Munich, right in front of the very impressive city hall. Its glockenspiel is very famous. We find it totally overrated.
00:34 Malerwinkel, Königssee
Among all the German lakes-by-the-mountains, this is the most stunning one! You'll get the best view over Königssee from a lookout called painter's corner.
00:36 Pottenstein, Franconian Switzerland
We love the area around Pottenstein for its wicked towering rock formations. THE Instagram shot would be the half-timbered museum on top of a rock at Tüchersfeld.
00:38 Walhalla, Donaustauf
The impressive hall of fame honors distinguished people in German history with busts and memorial tablets. Later additions include Martin Luther and Sophie Scholl.
00:41 Zugspitze, Wetterstein Mountains
Germany’s highest mountain – and best views. Undoubtedly.
00:43 Markgräfliches Opernhaus, Bayreuth
This must be the most beautiful opera house we have ever visited! The baroque court theatre is also a UNESCO world heritage site.
00:45 Augsburger Puppenkiste, Augsburg
This quirky little museum is dedicated to the German version of The Muppet Show. Its modern fairy tales are famous nationwide.
00:47 Romantische Straße
The “romantic street” connects some of the most famous tourist destinations: Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Würzburg, Augsburg and Neuschwanstein Castle.
00:48 Gaststätte Röhrl, Eilsbrunn
They serve a delicious Pretzel-Schnitzel. They had lots of time to practice. The Guiness Book of Records confirmed it: this is the world’s oldest tavern!
00:50 Vineyards, Iphofen
We loved small and cosy Iphofen with its various vineyards. Who knew Bavarians were as passionate about wine as they are about beer? We recommend
00:52 Danube River Cruise, Passau
The scenic “City of Three Rivers” is best enjoyed from the deck of a ship.
00:54 Danube Gorge, Weltenburg
The impressive rock formations in the Kelheim area are a great backdrop for canoeing trips. We went with:
00:56 Olympiastadion, Munich
Climbing the roof and ziplining across an iconic stadium is so much better than just going around it, trust us!
01:00 Rachelsee, Bavarian Forest
The massive Bavarian Forest with its lush vegetation and peaceful lakes is a paradise for nature lovers.
01:01 Eibsee, Grainau
Remember the thumb rule of 00:08? This is the perfect example for it!
01:03 Altes Rathaus, Bamberg
The old town hall of Bamberg looks like someone glued a half-timbered house to another. It’s the highlight of its historic centre.
Glockenspiel am Rathaus in Magdeburg | Chime of bells at town hall in Magdeburg
Storytime at the Ratskeller
Our Guericke cousins from Germany taught us an old table saying at meal time as we enjoyed the food in the Ratskeller Restaurant in Munich, Germany.
Peep, peep, peep, We love each other and we eat as much as we can but not our neighbor. So peep, peep, peep, Enjoy your meal!
Places to see in ( Regensburg - Germany )
Places to see in ( Regensburg - Germany )
Regensburg, a Bavarian city on the Danube River in southeast Germany, is known for its well-preserved medieval core. The 12th-century Stone Bridge, a 310m-long icon with 16 arches, crosses the river to the old town. The 13th-century Regensburg Cathedral, a twin-spired Gothic landmark, is home to the Regensburger Domspatzen choir. Walhalla, a Parthenon replica just east of the city, honors illustrious Germans.
The capital of the Oberpfalz region of Bavaria, Regensburg dates back to Roman times and was the first capital of Bavaria. Two thousand years of history bequeathed the city some of the region’s finest architectural heritage, a fact recognised by Unesco in 2006. Though big on the historical wow factor, today’s Regensburg is a laid-back, studenty and unpretentious sort of place and it's tangle of old streets a joy to wander.
Regensburg is one of Germany's oldest towns, founded by the Romans in 179 AD. It's in the German federal state of Bavaria, at the northernmost point of the river Danube. As capital of the district of Upper Palatinate and also its biggest settlement, Regensburg today is a thriving city of about 137,000 inhabitants. It has two universities and many landmarks and little chapels, most dating back to the Middle Ages (e.g. the Cathedral of St. Peter, the Old City Hall and Imperial Diet, and the Stone Bridge). According to legend there are so many chapels here, that there would always be at least one church bell ringing. Since 2006 the historic city center of Regensburg and Stadtamhof has been a UNESCO World Heritage site. Because of its narrow alleys Regensburg is often called the northernmost city of Italy.
Regensburg grew to strength and prosperity during the Middle Ages. In the 9th century Regensburg was one of the most important cities in the Kingdom of the East Franks. Through the long-distance trade to Paris, Kiev and Venice Regensburg experienced an economic boom in the 12th and 13th century and was one of the most populous and prosperous cities. A sign of the prosperity of the time is the construction of the Stone Bridge (c. 1135-1146). In 1245, Emperor Frederick II raised Regensburg to the Free Imperial City, and remained so until 1803.
Regensburg economically regained some strength because of its role as a river port for crude oil imports from Eastern Europe. Although Regensburg was target to 20 allied bombings during World War II, because it was home to one of Messerschmitt's main aircraft factories as well as an oil refinery, the historic city center took only little damage. There were two sub-camps of the Flossenbürg concentration camp located in the vicinity of the town for a brief period of time in early 1945. In 1960 the university was founded and several large companies like Siemens, BMW, Infineon, and Toshiba built factories in the city. In 2006 Regensburg's historic city center was appointed a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Regensburg was also home to the German Pope - Joseph Ratzinger. He spent a long time in Regensburg and from 1969 on he taught theology at Regensburg University.

Our trip through Regensburg to see David Copperfield the beginning of October '06. Thought I would share some of the sites under 7 minutes. Hope You Enjoy!
I didn't include St. Peter's Cathedral, that has a special video to itself. However here you will see Inside Old Town Hall that holds a torture room for confessions, a dungeon, a cell and as well all the old original pieces they used during that time. In addition, there is the Porta Praetoria, the north gate of the Roman Fort that was completed in 179 AD. Which measures 450 m by 540 m and was constructed from huge stone blocks. The back side of The Palace of the Princess of Thurn. Statue of Don Juan d'Austria, hero of the naval battle of Lepanto. The Steinerne Brucke, a large bridge built 1135 - 1146.
